Online is a frustrating experience

It would be nice to have PD sponsored races throughout the day that you qualify for to keep people in the same expience bracket. Can this be patched in?

As far as lobby's. I have found some good ones. My problem is I am not good enough to run most tracks without the line so if they have that disabled I can't do it very well, except the high speed ring. So those of you setting up lobbies if you could keep the lines on I would love it!! Don't need other aids and I am competitive with the lines so you dont have to worry about me crashing into you, not a total noob just haven't learned all the tracks and sometimes need a little guidenence of when the corner is approaching and an approx speed I should be at. I have daytona and Indy down so no needs for lines there.. LOL

I personally don't see a problem with a lobby with no restrictions. They have real life races like that. It's just you are competing with people in the same range as you. I had a fun race where there was everything from Minoltas to vetted to skylines. The added fun for the minolta type cars is when it's neck and neck and you come across slower traffic you have to get past them without wrecking.

I think it would be awesome if they had the GT Life events in an online mode just like they have now in A-Spec and B-Spec add an O-Spec for online and have strong restrictions on legal cars and tires in each race along with the penalty system and damage. Could be rather interesting especially if it could be done privately with friends. Would be a lot harder to take gold but more fun in the process.

Which makes me think that having a setting for age restriction might be a good idea. This would be feasible since the PSN account has your birth date registered. Now, how to make such a suggestion to PD....

How many folks really use their real DOB. Most just use a date from the year they want to get a bithday car... (Including me there aren't to many good cars from year 1941. :) )

^ I thought people use their real DOB, at least on their "main" account... Maybe I'm just gullible :dopey:

But 1941, man - wow, that's cool! I suddenly feel like a youngster, despite coming here thinking I was kind of in the old boys league. I might not pass the age restriction for your racing lounge, so maybe I should be more careful with such suggestions

Anyway, I also support the idea of adding a setting for license restriction.

I think it would be great if they had a system that would track the number of wrecks you have and allow you to restrict races based on the avg number of wrecks per lap.

I don't know. At first I was a bit disappointed in the lack of a real incentive to play online races but really I've been having a lot of fun just driving around on the tracks with people! I used to get really mad when I'd get punted but I just come to expect it in the public areas now and just laugh and have fun with it.

One of the big things I was really looking forward to in GT5 was the sense of a "track day" where you could just drive with people so I'm having a lot of fun just doing that. I do hope for a patch in the future that will add some serious things to the online for some real competition (leaderboards and matchmaking... it's on the box! Please put it in the game!!!) but for now, I'll just continue to enjoy the few times I get some fun little races in between bouts of getting punted off the track  That's about all I can do with it.

Online is rubish in GT besides private rooms wich if you have the right friends can be awesome.
I think PD intentionaly made online like crap in the start so people would rather play to reach 100%. Hopefully in the next few updates they will fix problems like bigger online garage and generaly more options for everything and as I heard we'll also have offical GT events.
So better times might be coming.

Edit: Also I'm convinced they will put money rewards for online races becouse there are to many cars to get and they are way overpriced and I hope PD is not expecting us to ride around tracks racing with slow AI's to get all the money we need.

Damn I'm having the best of times racing online, I always find at least 2 or 3 in the bunch that are great racers..myself I spend most of my time in the career mode just to buy and tune cars for online races.

I cant find any racers online that are fast at all. Need some improvements there so i can find them!

I do but either

A) No one joins
B) No one wants to actually race or
C) People who do join leave instantly because I've set the power to 700hp, tyres to sport softs and disabled all the driver aids.

Where are all the good drivers who appreciate close racing?

<---------------one of them

PSN = Rhythmnsmoke

Send me a request, I don't do "bandaids" and race straight up. It's the kiddies that jump on that are annoying, but you can't blame PD for that.

I find online is complete waste of time tbh. All I use it for is to drive around the ring with other people in whatever car I'm in.

Trying to get a proper, even race is just utter hassle. There needed to be some sort of matchmaking. Alas, there isn't.

Race with 15 other people last night in a 350 hp class on the ring. It was amazing some cars had racing tires I had my sports rubber on. I took 3rd because I did not crash. Started in the back because my S2000 has 298HP. I had a great time climbing up the grid!

I won a race with Focus WRCs on Eiger North just because i was the only one braking on time for the first corner!

Overall I really like the online gameplay. Only a few exceptions have been deliberately trying to sabotage other drivers. And yeh there's a touch here and there... but I'm not a perfect driver either.

👍👍👍
Kaz should be tied to a chair, and MADE to race random online races for say 12 hours!

Bet you the online part of the game would get patched PRONTO..!
👍👍👍

PS: while you're at it fix the single player menus - we need a link to home, garage and tune shop on each and every panel

👍 This. Some times I feel that they never seriously play-tested this multi-million $ game that has so much riding on it for Sony.:boggled:

How about that "Don't turn off the PS3 dialog that you have to actually click to go away. I was annoyed at the first 5 min. To fix that is a 15 min. coding job (I've been developing software for 25 years). No. Make that 1 min. Just comment out that code all together. No testing involved.

Me and a buddy built cockpits for our G27's and race against each other online using private rooms on a weekly basis. That has been a lot of fun. Our connection is solid and we both take it seriously. The result has been some quality races.

If I didn't have a friends who I know in real life or good GTP community members to play with I wouldn't play online at all at this point. I hope they address some of the issues that have been brought up in this thread sooner rather than later (or never).
