This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Opel and Vauxhall Return to Gran Turismo With Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo

Hot on the heels of the Chevrolet Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo, GT7 fans have news of another car in the Vision GT project coming our way — and it brings back a duet of brands that haven’t been with us in a while: Vauxhall and Opel...

Didn't realize they were going to Opel & Vauxhall. Pretty maybe will see the Opel Tigra Ice Car again or the Speedster come back eventually. I guess this is the last hurrah for GT7 since GT8 is figuratively around the corner 😁

That's so cool, I'm already digging this VGT. Not looking like a generic hypercar is already a very good first impression for me.

As for the brand (brands in this case), of course I'm glad they're back. I just hope it doesn't get the Skoda treatment: "a VGT and we're done". Opel/Vauxhall are too important for the series only to feature a VGT.

Perfect time to licence them with the rate of everyday passenger cars being added this year. Hopefully they'll cover some flagship cars by them too.

With this game's restrained event structure, I think most will be buying the Opel branded cars to gain access to the Schwarzwald League races.

Just noticed something curious. Aside from the obvious badges, there’s one extra tiny difference between the Opel and Vauxhall versions which could imply a key difference.

The Opel variant features the Gran Turismo logo on the front fender, while the Vauxhall one does not.

Considering this and the fact we’ve only got in-game images from the Opel variant, could this mean only Opel is actually returning and the Vauxhall version is only intended for marketing purposes in the UK?

Why does it have to be electric with a heap of power? Why can't it be a 300HP pocket rocket with a combustion engine? I want an engine in my car! Anyway this is yet another car I didn't see coming to a supposedly "dead" game. GT7's staying power is something to behold in this modern era of gaming.

On the one hand I‘m looking forward to it but on the other hand I remain a bit skeptical considering the situation with Skoda and GT7.

But I guess we‘ll see how it turns out, maybe PD are planning to support GT7 with updates for longer than we would have initially thought.

Yep, that's certainly a mouse. Not a gaming mouse like most VGTs though, maybe a disabled mouse for people with arthritis.

I'm guessing it will be just another pointless electric car?

The VGT program is hilarious because, despite being revealed less than a week apart, you would never realize both of these trailers were for promotional tie-ins of the same game.

It's starting to feel like the VGT program has flipped, and it's now the car industry driving it by asking PD to put the VGT name onto a concept and put it into the game for marketing. The Genesis, Chevrolet and now this all have that "we were making this anyway" feel to them.

Good work for PD, it's clearly putting them in touch with brands they otherwise wouldn't be.

Crikey. As a Vauxhall stan, the prospect of some pretty iconic cars that would look superb given the PD treatment means I have to stop before I get carried away, as they're so slept on and outside of the Lotus Carlton, will likely never get added to the game.

Since it has a Type number, the Lotus Carlton (Type 104) likely falls foul of the licensing issue with that brand, anyway. But, in a dream move, we'd see a road-going Calibra, Astra GTE 'Red Top' and Cavalier BTCC car added. These cars matter to many old farts like me, and are long overdue some representation.

I am not sure if this can be classified as a "add body kit to an existing car" type of VGT like the BMW VGT or Corvette CX.R.

If Vauxhall is coming back, give me this australian-blood bad boy again.🙏
Since Opel/Vauxhall is now under PSA, Opel/Vauxhall products that are rebadged GM cars that do not have lineage to the PSA twin like that (and least likely, Opel Blazer - a rebadged Chevrolet S-10 Blazer as sold in Indonesia) seems to be complicated licensing-wise.
Well, this gives me hope in seeing the Calibra DTM again.
...and then cue the discourse of "what race cars belongs in the groups".

Can't say I'm that excited. For one thing, it looks absolutely hideous IMO. But also, how many brands do we have that are "one and done?" When Skoda was revealed many players were pleased with the partnership and hoped for some real world cars. Alas, nada so far. At least with Xiaomi we're also getting the SU7 Ultra.

It seems like each model has it (the GT logo) on a different side of the car.
