mrtaital
well we couldn't replicate your testing last night, I couldn't better my time. Infact no one could and they all tried driving the suby and were slower doing 14s

Might just be the track.. Not sure..
I test drove all the other cars last night. The suby may be the slowest, but it is also the most stable in the corners. The only way we'll loose the rear in the cusco is if we touch the grass. It won't get taily out of a corner. The mr-s, the garaiyayaya, the sillycar and the Mazda will all step out if not careful.
There is no way, however, that the cusco will outrun any other car in a straight line.. (bit like the RB7 last year! Which destroyed its competition btw).
Having said that, one should be able to benefit from a slipstream, no matter what car you're in. So, we need to test, with oni, with OUR cars, tuned as they are, to see if we can get a tow down the straight or not.
IMO, the mr-s and the garaiyayaya are way to fast in their current specs to be available to tier 1 drivers. But it's only MY opinion. I didn't spend hours and hours testing the cars as oni did. I think it would be good to make an assessment after the first race, and see. If its all mr-s and garaiyayaya in the top positions, then sillycars and cuscos, and by a hefty margin, then perhaps ORS regs may need to be adjusted to suit... To perhaps reduce the PP for the mr-s and the garaiyayaya, specially for this in the hands of tier 1 drivers.
I'm not running this series, I just show up. In the end, the race director has the final say. I'm only inputting ideas here. As far as I'm concerned, I'm looking forward to this series a lot. It's got me back into GT5, and testing every single night. I haven't felt like doing that for a long time as you all probably know.
Let's get through race 1 and see how we go from there.

The problem is as Rusty said your only testing on 1 track (deep forest) you need to broaden your test to other tracks. The twisty and bumpy circuit of deep forest suits some cars while others get the raw end of the deal and so on with other tracks. Not only that your forgetting tyre wear is vastly different in each car.

The regs as they are now were tested by the WSGTC team and found to be equal. I have adjusted them slightly to be inline with the Tier system ran here.

IMO, the mr-s and the garaiyayaya are way to fast in their current specs to be available to tier 1 drivers. But it's only MY opinion.

Hence why the MR-S has now had its turbo removed and the Garaiya power limited.

Shat, everytime i have been in the slipstream with a gary, the car in front whatever one it was, would still pull away. Now add the tyre wear, and i'm in for a tough series.

But anyway, i trust your judgement.
I've now raced in a couple of series here on GTP, and i find the "ORES" series to be the best organised, closest and most fun to race in.

My apologies to the Oni-master-chan.
I did not see the changes made to the cars this mornin...

I hope everyone enjoyed the testing last night and put any worries people had on parity to rest.

Tomorrow is race night so if you cannot make it please let me know ASAP. Also before anybody jumps on track for qualifying you will need to state your qualifying tyre. Once you have decided on your qualifying tyre you cannot make a change. So make sure you make the right choice.

If you have any questions regarding this ask away now. I will be explaining it again before qualifying on Monday night.

Great week for the Aussies Casey you legend and will power makes it three in a row well done

Looking forward to a great season opener, now what did I do with that set up. I have no idea what order to use the tyres in...if anyone wants to impart some wisdom please let me know. Just a word of warning to check mirrors and maps on that pit exit also..

Mate, this one isnt going to be straight forward..
Im thinking of Quali on the hards, start from the back.. get rid of that compound on lap 6 and go the softs and mediums for the rest of the race.
Dunno if its going to work out or not, cos those first 5 or 6 laps in traffic on cold, hard tyres.. well, contact with taital or with walls jumping out in front of us could be an issue.. An early pit stop could hurt later in the race too..:nervous:

Absolutely. Whether you're coming into turn 1 full noise , or leaving pits ...... Be prepared for traffic. A collision there will be devastating for both drivers. It's a long way back to the pits with damage.

IMMORTALPILOT: The race series is for Australian on New Zealand drivers only.

Yeah I think it will be a good race tonight!:dopey:

Regarding starting tyre choice; just as Tiatal said, this is going to be a tough one...hards will be a bit dangerous to start on, but if you can keep your cool and not get damage; then it has its merits. Also on the other hand, if you feel you have good pace, then perhaps running Softs, qualifying at the top and then trying to sprint away at the start might work?
I think we will all have to test our confidence tonight...then run what we feel most comfortable with.;)

I was mucking around trying to sort this out.. and came up with this little graph in CAD (which im sure Cac could do SOOOO much better).
Its rough, but ive sorted out my pit / tyre strategy for the race using it....
Just ONE thing.. it doesnt take into account DAMAGE!!!:scared:

Nice graph there Willco.. Reminds me of that guy in the V8s and his race graph lol.

Remember all the rules regarding the Pit Window. Here they are again incase you glanced over them.

PitWindow.png

Pit lane opens at the end of lap 5 for any tyre grade change and closes with 5 laps to go for your final tyre grade change. You cannot change to any other tyre grade until the end of lap 5.

Note: If you receive damage on lap 1-4 that needs to be repaired via pits you CANNOT change to any other tyre grade until end of lap 5. You must stay on your chosen qualifying tyre.

Example; You receive damage on lap 3 and need to pit. You must stay on your chosen qualifying tyre.

All drivers start the race on their chosen qualifying tyre.

....and closes with 5 laps to go for your final tyre grade change. ....

Oni, I take your statement to imply pitting after lap 47 is allowed provided tyre compound (soft, medium, hard) is not changed from what is already on the car?

Just clarifying the situation for our secret tyre plan. ;)

Thats right mate. Take this race 1 as an example.

Your first tyre grade change happens after lap 5 and your final tyre grade change must be before lap 47 you can still pit after lap 47 just any tyre grade change after lap 47 will NOT count to the "have used all tyres during a race weekend regulation".

Hey good work mate, about damage; lets hope we can all keep it sweet this race.
My recommendation to all drivers is to watch for crashed cars at the rise of the road on the right hander, specifically where the wall cuts closer to the track!
Have a great and FUN opener guys.;)👍

Unfortunately MONSTAR-1 had to withdraw from the series for the time being due to work changing shifts on him. So he has been moved to a wildcard driver. Rusty has stepped up to take over his drive in the IS350 making the Wedsport sponsors very happy that they are not left 1 driver down for the series.

Lets hope Rusty can drive it like the Garaiya considering he hasnt driven one before. Good luck team Wedsport. ;)

Have a good race tonight guys, I've got to work but good to see rusty in the IS350.

I'm sure the way Rustys been driving lately , he'll do the Lexus team proud. Interested to see what victory message he comes up with !

I'm home from work so will see you all at quali :) yay

I knew it, i had a feeling after being disconnected in the lobby, that i would get disconnected during the race. FFS.
Other than that, i think everyone handled themselves very professionally tonight.

A pain in the rear for you PAWEL. Sorry it keeps happening.:grumpy:

Words cannot discribe how f....n mad I was after getting D.Cd after 3 laps.
I must have done about 1000 km of testing trying to get the most from this car. Had my pit strategy worked out ( start slow, finish fast )

Hey on the flip side, I got to see some two awesome acts on the Voice.
(kill me now):grumpy:

I need to see my ISP and go up the next plan, hopefully might fix lag issues.
Usually if I see someone with lag I back off and give some space, then I'm tip-toeing around the track. That's not fun.

Hopefully next week is better, this could be a demolition derby. Hope not

Evan

The feeling is mutual evan, i was more then half way through the race.

The sad thing is, this has happened recently in my other series, i got disconnected half way, and now this.
I blame the PSN for signing me out. My internet was just fine, and it's wired, dmz mode, and wireless off so no one interferes. It can't possibly be my fault.

But, no point stressing over it, the last few races in the previous series have run smoothly for me, so i expect to finish next race.

I finally had a run with leaders Unfortunately I was down a couple of laps.I had fun tonight even though I was my own worse enemy. No worries for the tap online and once again sorry cat I had some damage and was trying to get onto the grass, my car had a mind of it's own great win willco

Great first round everyone. While there were a few incidents the stewards will look into i believe it went off without much drama and was good to see a field of 15 drivers at the start until the dreaded DC demons came out and took 2 drivers away to rage land.

The pace was fantastic from everyone. There were battles happening all around the field and with so many different pit strategies going on made for an exciting race. I'm pleased with my result. Qualified 8th and finished on the podium in 3rd.

Once again good race all and thanks for participating. I am looking forward to round 2.

The pace in last nights race was unbelievable.. Taital and I opted to go softs in the first stint, as everyone seemed to opt for the hards.. and from lap 1 it felt like we were qualifying for 50 laps! The car was great on the softs, and the mediums, but it was horrible on the hards! I found them to be some 4 - 5 seconds a lap slower than the softs! For that reason, I was only on the hards for 9 or 10 laps, as I felt I was loosing too much time, and therefore the advantage I gained from going all out at the start of the race would be gone.
By using the graph i posted yesterday, I knew where the pit windows were, and I knew how far I needed to go on each set, and it worked out beautifully.
Four planned pit stops seemed a bit much at the start of the race, but it worked, and im wrapped to have taken the win. It was un-expected.
I saw good pace from all drivers, and was even able to benefit from slipstreaming some of the guys that were a lap down. Great race, cheers.

There was a number of memorable moments
from this race but here is just some in pictures:

Starting Grid!

That was a great place for the AWD Subaru's to get a good launch!

DeepForestRaceway_2.jpg

First turn: Everyone got through without a hassle! Good driving everyone!:dopey:👍
DeepForestRaceway_3.jpg

Oni, Cactass and Jasr! Oni has a good look up the inside of Catass while Jasr waits for an oportunity.
DeepForestRaceway_4.jpg

Rota MASTA!! Racing in clean air.
DeepForestRaceway_6.jpg

Lap 20 and Neg makes a move on Cactass and passes in the following turn. The differences in tyre compound made for many passes...great racing!
DeepForestRaceway_7.jpg

Catass and Catman have a little moment om lap 21, it results in damage for both...but they raced on!:trouble:
DeepForestRaceway_8.jpg

I (OnlineGT) gets a wheel off and goes slidewayz, I pulled it off and battled on with the Cactass and Taital!:D
DeepForestRaceway_10.jpg

Lap 47 2nd and 3rd is decided; I (OnlineGT) am given good room for a pass by Mike who was running hards for his last stint. Mike also had some good scraps with Taital in this race. Good driving Mike.:)
DeepForestRaceway_9.jpg

Neg and I (OnlineGT); into the tunnel...working as a team! Good clean driving Neg!
DeepForestRaceway_11.jpg

Last lap and a frantic chase was on!:trouble: At this point Spin, Cactass, Catman and Neg where all still racing for position and Wilco on cool down was caught up in the battle!
Spin was charging at this point!:scared: He had that Silly Car fired up and was giving chase to Cac...who's nerves where rattled by Spinner's unrelenting chase!:nervous: Spin in his rage ROARS past Wilco sitting on the horn!
In an effort to escape the grasp of Spin; Cac floors the MR-S and tears out of there!

Over the line they go!

Cac just holding in there as Spin was closing fast! What a finish boys!

Champion driving and alot of fun.;)👍

^^ nice photos Rusty.. specially the sideways wedsport..
BTW pplz, im gonna plug in my pvr tonight and start on a video..
Could you all please let me know of any incidents or passing manoeuvres which happened during the race, and what lap it was? Will help me make the video that much better!
Cheers!

The race went better than expected for me, as I hadn't driven the car, and it wasn't run in so I was about 10pp down at the start.
I might have snapped up 3rd place but ended up having 2 big spins throughout the race and lost about 20 seconds.

I don't think my tyre strategy was up to scratch either, I went with soft, medium, hard, hard.
But like Wilco said, the pace just wasn't there on the hards, and they only lasted me 15 laps when the softs lasted me 10. So it would've only been one more pit stop for a lot more pace if I went soft, medium, hard, soft, soft.

A new setup is definitely in order for the next race, through 3 of the corners on the track I was just having to counter-steer a little as I entered the corner, before it started sliding, or it would spin every time. It was like driving on egg shells.

Great racing by all, congrats Wilco. :)

I had a smiliar problem mike, especially in the first corner and the the sharp lef hander after the last tunnel, i had to take it really careful so i wouldn't lose it.
