great photos and story line Rusty...looks liek you guys had an awesome race!

Could you all please let me know of any incidents or passing manoeuvres which happened during the race, and what lap it was? Will help me make the video that much better!
Cheers!

Myself and Cactass , last lap. I'd been tailing him for about 10 laps , we pitted together for the last time then the stalk was on ! Plan was to sit back , hope he trashed his tyres then pounce at the last corner.
Highlights of the last lap were both of us passing 4 cars , me honking at Taital shortly before cutting a corner then the drag race to the line.

i should have pitted once i got the other damage coz i lost about a minute over the 4 laps - takes 30 seconds to pit and i would have been on softs

Great race gents and some excellent shots there Rust!

The full review of the race from the stewards perspective is underway. Our initial findings are that the entire grid was compliant with the tyre regulations - so a big thanks to all for keeping in the spirit of this new ORS requirement. 👍

Also, if anyone has a specific incident that they would like reviewed, please send Oni, Taits or myself a PM and this will be reviewed for an impartial judgement.

Looking forward to the Vid Willco and congratulations again on the win. :)

Hey guys, an idea just hit me. . . 💡 <- like this it was.

Sort of silly for me to suggest as I'm not in the series at the mo' - however:

What if there's a mini competition in the series that's a weekly 'best photo' comp???

It's always great to see photos from the races and we get some good ones here, plus it might encourage guys to post pictures when they normally wouldn't. The more pictures the better I reckon.

Maybe the points could count in the series championship, you can get points for qualifying on pole, best lap and now for best photo . . . or maybe not. :dunce:

But the winner could get some gold plated car or something.

But anyway it could be a good side competition, some photo might win as it captures an action moment another might win as it's a great shot of car on track with filters and effects applied that generates a feeling of pure speed. Thought I'd throw it out there.

Love the idea but not for points, for a paint chip, suit or helmet weekly sounds more likely.

At the end we could decide a series winner and issue a GT300 car of there choice?

Awesome vid Wilco ! Been missing them mate :)

I watched the replay today and grabbed a few shots

This drag down the main straight was a highlight , inches apart !

Mick , you know 'd be up for a photo comp mate ! If we get enough shots from everyone , then a weekly round would be justified , otherwise maybe we could all submit one shot at the end of the series and vote on them ?

Nice work with the video Wilco. :)

Mic's Photo Comp idea

Great idea mate. I myself can't organise it but if somebody wants to step up and make a Official ORS Race Photo competition then i am all for it.

A few rules i would suggest to keep it even.

- No using external sources for editing (photoshop, lightroom, apeture etc)
- All effect etc must be done in game
- Limit on how many photos can be submitted

Regarding incentives. I would have to deny any series points up for grabs. I'd prefer the organiser either give out a Car, Paint chip, Racing suits/helmets.

Onto a issue brought up recently after race 1 regarding parity. After some further testing and race 1 data it appears some cars have a slight advantage in tyre wear compared to others and a lack of power problem in the MR-S. During free run test the MR-S had its turbo removed for parity but after Race 1 and some testing around Monaco it appears during a race with fuel weight the MR-S struggles. For now no turbo will be re added to the car however it's being investigated to see if it can maintain parity with a turbo and not pull away on straights as per pre-season testings showed.

In regards to the tyre wear of certain cars it appears some cars could get 10+ laps on softs while others barely managed 8 laps. A weight handicap may be applied to those cars but until further testing is complete they will continue to run as is for now.

Unfortunately all of this could not be picked up during pre-season testing. The parity of HP and laps times was great however tyre wear advantages and race distance fuel weight handicaps some cars. Hopefully i will have this resolved by round 3. Until then keep racing and testing as usual.

If you have any questions/complaints let me know.

Gents,

For those amung you who like staring at "Cac Graphs(TM)" after a hard nights racing, I've been dabling with a couple of new ones.

They're only test beds for trialing ideas and have some undesirable quirks, and are not "official", but I thought some of the nerds amungst you may find them interesting.

Cactass. :)

Race 1 Test Graphs (Not official)

Cac mate, that would take me weeks to do.
Dunno how u do it mate, but hats off to you!

Hey thanks for all the complements on the photo's I posted guys!:dopey:👍 It was fun to go back over and look at the high's and low's of the race.:)

Amazing skill with the graphs you got there Cac! But not sure they are all necessary...the current official graphs are already the work of a champion...do we really need more?

Excellent shot Spin!...Wouldn't it be nice to be able to freeze frame a moment in time...walk around as the only animate object...happily snapping whatever you feel like...one things for sure...we would get better angles!:D

I'm all for the Photo competition! I agree with Oni though; there couldn't be a series point reward for the best photo...that would undermine the base reason for winning a championship...GOOD DRIVING!;)

I think it would be best to use the competition as look back'summary on all the photo's taken during the season, then a poll made for the best shots...what do you guys think?
The winner could be awarded the 'ORS Series Photographic Champion' Award...which would consist of...perhaps the target of a gift box mass spam from anyone who wants to join in? Also they could be considered a graphics and photo's supplier for future series?
All aformentioned concepts and thougths
are the originals mental workings of your truly,

The Position Motion Graph is by far the most useful and would love to have it for every round if it doesn't cost you to much time. If you don't want to go ahead with it thats cool as well.

The thing i love about it is you can select which drivers you want to compare and see how they went during the whole race, when they pitted (the red dots) and when they overtook another driver. You just tick which drivers you want to compare and hit play in the bottom left. Awesome work mate. Your a wizard with google spreadsheets.

....Amazing skill with the graphs you got there Cac! But not sure they are all necessary...the current official graphs are already the work of a champion...do we really need more?.....

More? HELL! NO!

I signed up to race cars, not drive a spreadsheet. lol.
I'm already loosing vast amounts of my life doing the current graphs.

{lays down on the couch}
It all started when.....
.....the CEO made an offhand remark(txt msg) recently asking "...your graphs couldn't show ........ feature could they?.....". After several back and forth txts containing words like "don't", "no", "maybe" & "doubt" {or was that the mrs' who said that?, anyway} and followed by missing out on my kids growing up, the semi-successful attempts were presented to the Omnipotent One, in the hope of some food scraps in reward.
{Bell rings! Times up i'm afraid Mr Cac, please remember to pay the receptionist on your way out, and i'll see you again for our next appointment at 11am Tuesday, Goodbye.}

So no, I was only looking at replacing the existing graphs with more detailed ones, still using the same data, and not MORE graphs. Because the new ones introduce some oddities due to option limitations, I don't know if they will become the "Official" graphs in the future. That's why I put them up on the forum for everyone to play with and decide whether people like the new graphs with extra info and quirks, or the old graphs with less info and no quirks. :)

Agreed, that position motion graph is sex on legs!

Me three.
That is the easiest to get a quick picture of the race , and by far the coolest one you've done yet. I'd happily give up all the other graphs just to have this one ! Totally up to you though mate. Told you once already....you've created a monster ! Love your work :D If Mark Larkham saw it he'd chub up.

Forgot to add......agreed on all points there Rusty. Series points are too valuable to be giving away as a prize.

A mass dump of comfort hards , sports flywheels and possibly crappy cars to the winner would be much more appropriate (and fun for all involved). Good thinking 👍

Hope everyone is ready and setups are going along well. Here are the details for Round 2 on the 14th May.

I haven't said it before oni but mate, your new format for map presentation has a habbit of making me slightly happy in the pantaloons..

Looks bloody *sexy growl*!

Capt'n One I,
Can I have your defining "Policy Statement" regarding turns 9 & 10 (bus stop after tunnel), and any other motivating pearls of wisdom for the oarsmen? :D

Common rule is 2 wheels/half the car must be on the track side of the kerb

"Should be a good race Monday night. Cote d azur is a very non forgiving track. Last time we raced here Oni was very specific about the chicane on the back section of the track. You had to keep the right hand wheels on or left of the ripple strip. This is a hard line to adjust to if you are use to braking late and you let the ripple strip pass under the cat"

Quote from Evan that oni confirmed

Taital is spot on. It's the regular rules ORS have used for Monaco. Taital if you have a time to take a few photos to illustrate that point that be sweet (i remember you doing this before for Monza). Otherwise ill try do it myself when i get some time between testing for Monaco and testing for parity.

Hey lads...thumbs up for a photo competition, Spin's masterpiece and Cac's data amazement's. 👍

Here's a trial video on did on the first couple of laps from Round One as a supplemental to Will's full race wrap up. 👍

Hey guys I'm fully willing to run a weekly photo comp.

It'd be a good way to stay in touch with the series.

I just sent a longish PM to Oni, with a few of my ideas and suggestions as to how to best run it.

So hopefully it'll be up and running for the next round. I'll get the details better worked out as we go.

Thats great jas, well done mate. Was good to sit down and watch that, now you know why I leave my lights on... to know which ARTA is mine!

Also, what times are people getting around Monaco? Been away all week so haven't done any testing.
