Hello! This is a thread dedicated to my bad photography (I've been told its amazing, but I think otherwise) and I have pictures from wherever I go! Whether it be races, concerts, car shows, or something to do with cars I'm there! Also, I mostly post real life pictures in here, but occasionally I'll post some GT5/Forza pictures.
One last thing: Sometimes I lightly edit (mainly lighting and colors because I'm pretty bad at editing) and I'll let you know if they're edited or not.

First, I'll post some pictures from Petit Le Mans 2011!

This space is only going to be taken up by one picture. A Pair of Tucker Torpedo's. I don't have to say much except I need to retake that picture next year when I come back California because I just now noticed that its partially out of focus...Also, this picture has not been edited.

I'll stick to the static photography as there are people more skilled than I at the motorsport stuff.

If you're snapping for the sake of snapping then it's all fine (apart from the Viper interior, which is out of focus) but when I go to those sort of events I try and make every shot worthwhile, and spend a little more time composing the shot. It does take a bit more time and you may have to wait a bit longer, but it's worth doing stuff like waiting until other people move out of the frame, or re-positioning yourself so that they're not as noticeable.

The Impala shot is a case in point - I quite like the colors and exposure, but the people in the frame let it down. I'd also have been tempted to get a more interesting angle - maybe including more of the side of the vehicle, or kneeling down and shooting from headlight-level, or even putting your camera on the floor and getting a low shot. It's an aggressive design and deserves more than just a snap from a standing viewpoint.

Composition is again the problem with the DeLorean and Fusion shots - you've taken both with an info stand in the way.

I appreciate with the Viper it's a bit more difficult as there are loads of people about, but with that I'd have been tempted to capture details instead - the double-bubble roof, the head- and tail-lights, the badge, a wheel, and a more in-focus interior shot.

@homeforsummer
I try to make each shot worthwhile, but because Barrett-Jackson was packed with people, like you said, it was very hard to get a good shot of the Viper. The interior was more of a point and shoot because of all the people. I was there a good twenty minutes and only five or seven pictures actually turned out moderate. Also, I did get pictures of the head-tail lights, badge, but no wheel. To many people. Plus all the SRT people stood in front of it so it was hard enough as it was.

For the Impala and DMC shots, Those were just kind of pictures I didn't really care for, but I included them because both are very cool cars.

I am going to be posting pictures soon of a private museum so there was nobody there so the shots turned out good. I'll post both full and close up pictures of the vehicles.

Thanks for the critiquing

PS: I'm an amateur photographer and I have not gone to any photography classes.

Like the F40 spoiler Pic.

Yeah not always easy on those events, sometimes I am already happy to get a shot without people on it or before the car.

@*ibo* S3 Racer
Thank you! That was a tough one. So many people around the F40 so I only had a one second window to get that shot. I really like that shot. Tomorrow i'm going to upload an amazing shot of two Tucker Torpedo's.

I absolutely agree. I am just happy to get a picture of a car I won't see again, or won't see until whenever it goes on sale.

Alright, here are some pictures of things at like, 5 or 6 AM yesterday morning.
I couldn't sleep. Sorry for the noise, it was the lighting.

i think they did a sorta "touch-up" to the new impala, because it looked WEAK. and i mean WEAK. hopefully now itll at least look powerful. compared to the old impalas that is. they did a COMPLETELY different model of the new viper!

@locoman88
The new Impala looks much better then before. I mean, MUCH better. So hopefully the new one will be great to drive! My Cousin really wants to get one so I might have a chance to drive it shortly after it comes out

With the Viper, It doesn't even look like the old design. I think the only thing in common is the double bubble roof and the side profile. Thats it. In my opinion anyway.

Yea does the new impala come with a v8 at least? And as for the viper, the back as far as the little lip spoiler is brought back from like the old viper gts '99

I'm not sure on the Impala with a V8. The info stand didn't say anything about a V8. Sorry.
Man, I've been waiting for Dodge...SRT to bring back that lip spoiler. Its great they brought it back with the new face lifted one.

Oh I hope they put v8. Yea, I liked the wing on viper acr, but I prefer the lip spoiler. I like the new back lights, as far as the front lights, not my favorite. However I like the rest of the front, just not a big fan of headlights

Overal, I love the new car. Only complaint is that it has to lug a lot of weight around and doesn't have that good of a 0-62 MPH time. in my opinion.

Yea. At least this one comes with traction control right? And its not the best car to pull around the track. I don't like traction control, but it'll help when racing.

I hate traction control. I always drive without it on. If the car has an option to turn it off that is. Until they release an ACR version, I don't think it'll be good for track days. Unless you brought spare tires.

Traction control has its uses in a 700bhp muscle car...

Yea I don't like traction control either, but when your using a 700 hp viper that has A LOT of weight in the front, it has its uses, like the poster above me said

I'm gonna post some pictures later. Right now, I'm really busy so I don't have the time to upload them. Sorry!

Stay away from the selective color option - it virtually never looks tasteful.

You've some good ideas but you need to work on composition and a bit of the technical aspects a touch more. HFS has some good input. But do keep practicing it and things will come to together.

I have played around with selective color and I'll post two pictures which turned out amazing with that feature. Thats it. Everything else will either be Monochrome, Black and white (same thing), or Full color.

Well if you are shooting RAW, it doesn't matter what mode you are in really.

Selective coloring, to me, is generally a gimmick people use when they can't properly isolate the subject with technique and composition. I feel it can become a crutch when shooting as well.

I am shooting RAW, but still learning my new camera. Some of the pictures I post will probably be experimentation with settings. If people like it, I'll take more of those pictures. If not, I'll keep playing around.

Selective coloring, to me, is something I've been trying to do for a while now, and this new camera has the feature built in, which is nice. But I think a super cool picture (to me) is to take a picture of someone shooting hoops and have the basketball in color, everything else black and white, and the person in mid air, while the ball is halfway through the air almost at the net. I think thats a good picture.

In my mind that picture would not need spot coloring to be dramatic, though perhaps black and white with some burning and dodging to add feel. Now that I think about it, spot coloring just the basketball would take away attention from the shooter, when it is a shot of his moment and anxiety, which isolates him from everything else for that moment.

I haven't seen anyone that does it enough to call it a crutch. :odd: It's a cool effect, imo.

I see it quite often at the amateur levels, especially with people that claim to be "professionals" but have little clue what they are doing. Often it is used to make a rather dull shot more "interesting" and to stand out.
