An exception is underway in Bradfield, on Sydney's North Shore. Nicolette Boele (IND) leads by 1,830 votes with 77.6% of votes counted. The ABC projects her to win 50.5 tp 49.5 after preferences.Sadly seems minor and third parties are also getting caught in this annihilation.
Absolutely whopper news, thanks chief. After all has been said and done, it looks like not only have the LNP lost ground, opposition leader Peter Dutton has even lost his seat.
Certainly, Trump is 3/3 in his 'endorsements' getting the other party elected. All three major English-speaking democracies now have (mildly) "left-of-centre" parties i government.
Pretty sure we get our Rangers from Thailand, so they'll be safe. If not, South Africa is another option. You’re damn skippy! Dodging a bullet for sure.
I guess Mustangs and Rangers will cost a pretty penny moving forward, but at least things remain the same for a chance to rethink.
No, he's damn Skippy 👇🏾:You’re damn skippy!
What's so bad about a Hung Parliment? It’s hardly surprising that the Libs shot themselves in both feet several times, at least it’s not a hung parliament which is a good thing.
I think the lower vote for The Greens was mostly due to discontent sown by Advance Australia and others.
- The Greens saw their own repudiation, with voters rejecting what they regarded as extremism, obstructionism and support for bad causes such as the CFMEU.
Not to mention, from what I've seen the greens actually did relatively well in the primary vote, with the preferential votes swinging the seats more in favour of labour this time around. Liberal votes will always preference labour over the greens if they fail to win the seat. Fewer seats doesn't necessarily mean fewer votes. Certainly not a win but not as much of a loss as certain people would like us to believe, I feel.I think the lower vote for The Greens was mostly due to discontent sown by Advance Australia and others.
If the LibNats scared people away with the Trump parallels, and people were pushed away from The Greens and Independents by lobbyists, then Labor was the "safe" option for most people to vote in.
I don’t know the implications of this election result yet, but Labor holds the majority. What's so bad about a Hung Parliment?
It makes the two major parties actually have to listen to the representatives of the Greens, Minor Parties and Independants and prevent a Two Party System. A two party system mind you that both parties are owned by corrupt fossil fuel corporations (moreso Liberal)
New Zealand has had a Minority Government for the longest time and have a bettet Government than us (even when NZ Labor won the majority they decided to share power with the cross bench anyway, it was that benefitial).
Our last minority government (pre-Tony Abbott) was better than any majority government we had since then.
Huh? I just asked you why a Hung Parliment (and by extend Minority governments) is a bad thing, not what is going to happen. Its clear Labor won the majoroty hereI don’t know the implications of this election result yet, but Labor holds the majority.
I’m under the impression that a hung parliament is bad because there could be issues with legislation being passed making it take longer or something. My sources of information aren’t giving me the full story either.Huh? I just asked you why a Hung Parliment (and by extend Minority governments) is a bad thing, not what is going to happen. You Aussies have such a sophisticated voting system compared to Canada's first-past-the-post system. However, unlike in the UK, the Canadian system actually produces pretty reasonable results This is a consequence of various historical & regional factors ... like having a pretty significant number of seats filled by MPs who don't actually want to be part of Canada at all. 🤔Not to mention, from what I've seen the greens actually did relatively well in the primary vote, with the preferential votes swinging the seats more in favour of labour this time around. Quite the opposite.I’m under the impression that a hung parliament is bad because there could be issues with legislation being passed making it take longer or something. My sources of information aren’t giving me the full story either.
That previous Labor government had its issues, but was it for the better? How did it lead to the Liberal hell you described?Quite the opposite.
Julia Gillards minority government was the government that passed the most legislation in Australian history: https://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2013/jun/28/australia-productive-prime-minister
This due to the fact that she had to make deals with the Greens and other minor parties to hold Government and because of that she also had their full support in the Senate making it done faster.
If only the whole Carbon Tax scare campaign didnt catch on which led to us stuck with a decade of Liberal hell.
No AUKUS, far more backbone against Fossil Fuel industries, far less controversies of politicians looking down us (like Tony Abbot and ScoMo seemed to have done every day of the week.).That previous Labor government had its issues, but was it for the better? How did it lead to the Liberal hell you described?
Doesn't take much thought to realise that the party closest associated with Trump would look really bad by association. (Well I guess Trumpets are closer)The Liberal Party's election loss needs to be studied. How can they LOSE seats? How can Peter Dutton LOSE his seat? How much worse can it get? This is a party in tatters and I have totally lost faith in them. What a shame. Nobody knows what they stand for so they choose Labor instead because they know damn well who they are. Albo's spot as PM is unlikely to be squandered at this rate.
