Pagani's answer to the FXX and MC12 Corsa for the really rich costumers. Only for track use and 750hp.

As far as I know pic and those in the links are not official and the only thing that's come out of Pagani officialy is that they have a surprise for this year's Geneva show.

It's fast but very ugly compared to the F. I hope it doesn't look like that.

Okay, who's gonna be the first to paint (oh, wait, not paint) one like the Zonda LM Race Car?

Wow. A lot of panels seem to be different. It probably is a completely different car and is just based on the actual Zonda. Gotta be very fast, though. Pagani should build a super-powerful, racy version of the Zonda for the street, even faster than what they already have.

On the upside, maybe wou could see Zonda R / FXX / Corsa battles in the near future. That would be cool.

I like everything about it except the wing.

Its still automotive porn in my opinion.

according to that picture it appears they've lengthened the car quite a bit. obviously the front lip and rear diffuser account for most of it but that pic says that the wheelbase has been streached.

wait... if these arent official pics then i wonder if any of those measurements are based on leaked details or mearly someones imagination. i find it odd that someone would go to such extremes as to appoint measurements to the cars length and wheelbase if they were totaly made up. let alone without any information suggestive that there will be any alterations to the cars structure at all. :odd:

...I'd still have the MC12, but that may just be me...

So which division is Pagani going racing in?

Just what everyone wanted - a Zonda with even fussier detailing 👍

Only for track use? - Ferrari and Maserati can get away with producing cars like that off the back of their rich racing heritage. Pagani have zero racing heritage, who's going to want to buy a hellishly expensive track car from a company with no racing experience?

Yes, but it's not a 'factory' race car is it? - its hardly in the same league as ferrari or maserati.

From time to time small independent companies attempt to introduce a newly designed supercar, with the intention of competing with the best Ferrari and Lamborghini have to offer. Many, like Vector for example, unfortunately fail and are forgotten within a few years after the launch. Pagani stormed onto the supercar scene at the end of the 1990s with their controversially styled and mechanically advanced Zonda C12. This Argentinian-Italian company based near Modena proved to be a rare exception to the 'supercar curse'.

The heart of the Zonda is a carbon-fibre composite monocoque chassis. Although this chassis was one of the car's biggest, it prevented it from racing in its first years of production and racing is where car's of the Zonda stature can really prove their worth. The international racing's governing bodies finally stepped up and allowed carbon fibre chassis in GT-racing at the start of the 2003 season. Although Pagani themselves have not yet started racing program, one of the customers readied a Zonda for the 2003 24 Hours of LeMans race.

Long time GT-racing team Carsport America was the customer, who formed Carsport Modena to develop and built the race car. Most of the Zonda's features were retained, with the drivetrain being the exception. The AMG derived engine was decreased in size to displace six litres. The gearbox was a Porsche 911 derived unit mounted reversed and upside down. Further modifications include minimal changes to the bodywork to have it comply with the regulations.

In its debut season the Zonda GR, as it was dubbed, was dogged with many problems. Although the car appeared ready for the race, the Zonda GR's outing at LeMans turned out to be a disaster. Minutes into the race gearbox problems forced the Zonda to visit the pit to retire. Clearly not used to be mounted upside down, the gearbox proved to be the car's achilles heal for the remainder of the season.

Over the 2003/2004 winter, the Zonda was completely revised; the 2004 car only shared the front subframe with the debut variant. Most importantly the gearbox was replaced by the commonly used and well proven X-Trac unit. The engine was increased in size and displaced just under 7 litres. To prevent the 2003 debacle from happening again, the drivetrain was tested for well over 24 hours on a test-bench prior to the LeMans test days in April 2004.

All I´m saying, is that there may well be interest in a factory "R" version.

I was going to make a thread about what users think the next evltution of XXXXX car will be, and |I was goig to say i thought the next zonda would be the zonda R!

I wish I did it now :(

The zonda being my 2nd favorite car, I cant wait for geneva!

👍

I think that there are plenty of rich race enthusiasts who will do everything to get away from that Ferrari heritage. Maybe not a lot, but certainly enough to sell a few Rs.

If you are rich enough to get away with buying effectivly a toy of this magnitude, I would say you are rich enough to buy all three monsters (well, you have to be chosen by Ferrari to get a Fxx). And maybe the 800Ps Gumpert too!

Does anyone have any idea if this car gets the same track support the other Italian racers get? You get a full racing support team you have the option to tour with when you sign up for the FXX race program. It's quite amazing to see them work on your car while you sit at the buffet table in the refreshments tent.

Since supercars (Enzo, et. al.) have become both incredibly numerous and popular over the past few years, I had envisioned a sort of racing league where owners could race against each other in a semi-competitive manner, sort of like extreme trackdays. Now that there's the MC12 Corsa/FXX, A10, and Zonda R, it makes even more sense. I actually would really like to see this. I'm sure there's at least one owner of each car that would want to compete. The variety of cars on the track would be huge, the crowd should be easy to assemble, and I'm sure even televising the events wouldn't be a stretch. Get 20 or so owners to sign up, find a sponsor or ten, set 10-15 track dates spread out across the world, and have a supercar Grand Prix...of sorts.

Sure would shut up a lot of bench racers.

The FIA just created that exact segment. There is a restriction of how much racing experience you can have, so it keeps the experienced pros at home and the youinger or less experienced drivers a go at it.

That's not what I was talking about. Those are actual race cars, or road cars converted to race regulations. I'm talking about driving your $300,000+ car to the track, race around a few dozen times (competitively), then drive home. Same thing people do on track days, but organized, much higher cost of entry, and travelling to other countries. Sort of like "Supercar Showroom Stock".

There's got to be enough foolish millionaires who'd want to do this.

Must be a new car. It isn't in GT4. Is it in GT5? Hmm... I don't know... 💡 My guess is yes. GT5 should have it. Depends how new it is. :)

Please tell me you even bothered reading the first post...

Nevertheless, this thing is no-doubt going to look un-be-leave-able...

It didn't tell me if it was in any games in the first post. It also didn't tell me how new it was. So stop complaining about that.

How could you NOT ascertain that it's a new car? If it wasn't obvious from the first post, it certainly was obvious from the provided link.

If the car has yet to come out, how in the world do you expect anybody to know if it's in (it's not) or going to be in any video games?
