The ability to make a mandatory pit stop. For example even though a 5 lap race (shorter track obviously) wont wear your tires down making a mandatory pit stop would add more strategy to the race and if you don't pit your disqualified. The pits seem to be lonely. :)
 
How about the ability to do a race in both A and B-spec like Gran Turismo 4, and to be able to speed up a race like in GT4.

And most important (to me atleast), to move the barriers further away from the Top Gear Test Track, I hate it when you slide off the track and hit a barrier rather than slide for 50 meters. It takes the fun out of the track. And get rid of all the cones, because they're not there on the show.

Rain on more tracks (like on city courses, TGTT, and wet rally)

Dont understand why in game race saves are requested. Nur and Lemans 24hr is supposed to be the hardest races on the planet, in game race saves just spoils the whole purpose of them.
 
What GT5 really, really needs is a way to gauge how 'clean' a racer is in online play...

Every time an online racer runs into a wall, he loses 3 points out of 100 points per lap. If you make contact with another car, you lose 5 points. You go off the track, you lose 3 points. You quit in the middle of a race, you lose 10 points, etc...

Your given a rating out of 100 and hosts can set it so those under say 90 points/lap can't join your room. My attempts to play online are more times than not ruined by a bunch of racers who either intentionally try to place my car off the track or just have no control over their vehicle.
 
G25/27 support. I'm very surprised this was not in the game upon release. Considering the G25 must be one of the most popular choices amongst serious sim racers, this seems to be a major oversight... yet more evidence GT5 was not ready for release.

Also needs a way to access purchase of cars from the race selection screen. Having to go back through the menu system is a drag.
 
I want the option to buy new brakes, like racing brakes or sports brakes or carbon fiber brakes, and paint shop or store, so you can buy that paint you want, so don't need to buy a new car or waiting every day tills you get the paint.
 
Would it be unrealistic to wish for improved engine sounds for some of the more iconic cars?

Same goes for the Enzo, Viper (which had an epic sound even in GTPSP).
 
How about a patch that stops people wishing for stuff that PD is never going to put into the game as they have had your money and don't give a whitches kiff what we want.

No one at PD cares so lets stop wasting our time asking for the impossible.

Because its a video game and not everyone can sit in front of a tv for 24hrs.
 
I think it's amazing how with all the turmoil over in japan that the day they release a patch to stop the "glitchers" AKA cheaters you guys are on here demanding more. Now that said I'm big on drifting and NASCAR the only thing I'd like to see is a few more NASCAR tracks and the ability to change only left or right side tires but no rush PD take your time
 
Ability to Buy tires on the online lobby/room. Or Being able to choose the highest tire type allowed.
So I could find more rooms with sports tires...
 
I just want in Game Saves, or Race saves or whatever, I am getting close to doing the 9 hour and the 24 hour ones and I really dont want to spend random hours on it just to do it.
 
Anybody notice the glitchy paddle shifting animations in some cars? Sometimes the drivers hands clip through the steering wheel..
 
Add the race system from PSP version of GT. Nice way to earn credits.
And it's a lot of fun if you have just a little bit off time to race.

Last: a season/championship creator. Where you're allowed to choose the tracks.
e.g. tarmac and dirt tracks in one championship.

For me no Taco stand, i rather have a drive trough! :D
 
I've been an avid GT player since GT (1). I loved the original game. I loved GT2. I loved them all, and I ... well ... like GT5 a lot! But it does have a few shortcomings, that have now led me to shelve the game. I'm moving on.

In game saves of some sort, is a must for most players. Very few (normal) people can do 9-24 hour stints in front of a TV set, and leaving the game paused overnight for weeks seems rather irresponsible. So no endurance games for me, which takes a dimension out of the game - a dimension that was working just fine in the previous versions! That's a step backwards.

Tracks are great, premium cars are great, everything is great! I want the full Monty, so I only race Premiums, and only in cockpit view, but hey - more Premiums cars would be an obvious DLC, so I'm not worried. Just a bit puzzled the DLC hasn't popped up yet? Will it arrive too late? (For me: Yes.)

But the number of A-spec events is simply not good enough! After GT3 and GT5 I'd expect around the same number of events, and ... well, that is just a major disappointment. I started a new profile, to race all events again, but still, this is just not sufficient for me. Seasonals is a very good idea, but it is NOT a substitute for A-spec events for someone like me.

For me, I'm afraid, it's a very premature and very unexpected bye-bye to GT5.

How about a patch that stops people from entering a thread complaining about other people wishing for stuff?
 
What I do miss (and what was in GT5P):
The option to delete seperate times in my time trials boards.
On some tracks, the top 5 times are done with the same car...
I want to delete the slowest 4.

And what JuiceMcGoose says :)
