Would you be willing to pay for down loadable content? Say car packs, track packs, customizable options like custom paint schemes, body kits, tuning packages, private rooms, working voice chat, custom physics setups for private rooms etc. etc. Or would you rather have it as it is now, you get what they give you for free?

I'd pay for cars and tracks. Thats about it. I hope they never charge for tuning packages, that would be the end of my Gran Turismo days.

No would not pay for cars & tracks
- Because i cant since no PSN cards
- Even if i had those cards, if its like FC 1 euro per content, i will not becuase its to expensive ripoff
- And because its actually paying for GT5 because they need to make it anyway for GT5.. so would be ripoff little bit.

It depends on what it is, if I feel they should have had it in the game the begin with I won't bother but if something new and exciting then I will think about it and probably get it. It is very irritating when game companies think it's ok to not bother putting something in the game only to charge you for it later on. I mean games still are $60.

However, I see this is for GT5:P, which I won't buy content for since it's a demo. All things for Prologue should be offered to us for free since we are basically a big testing bed for PD and it's game.

I agree with you Joey D. It really is a 50 bones demo. You get to pay for the exclusive right to play test a kick butt game.

I'm also suprised people dont make a problem of what Ferrari Challenge has done, undress a game and putting it for sale after buying it for 65 euro.

They are getting the Nordsleife, but I think that everyone is trying to go the iRacing route. Still expensive. But depending on the DLC I might pay for it.
One thing they might miss is the online racing part I E "oh don't have that track can't race here" comment and that will split the user base.

i wont mind paying for additional cars and tracks AFTER GT5's full release..i would gladly pay for more content

Well, there will be about two years or so berfore GT5 :indiff: , so I think there will be d.c. with prize tag. And yes, I would buy.. ..the updated Nordschleife. (Although I hope it will be a free download latest at christmas.)

GT5 will define what is both downloadable, and chargeable!

Sony will keep making losses on the PS3, until they release GT5. Then they'll recoup it back with wave after endless wave of DLC! Trust me, I can see it coming in the rear view mirror, its tucked in tightly behind that other wallet sapper - PS3 Home.

I'd pay. I get the demo angle but honestly if it is a reasonable cost I'd buy upgrades here and there. Not fixes to existing problems but expansions. New tracks, cars, etc.

No game content for Prologue should cost money. Unless, when GT5 comes out, they release a $20 add-on that turns Prologue into GT5 Full. But that'd take up too much hard drive space. And why would Polyphony do that anyway when they know that we're all willing to pay $60 for GT5?

I think if they ever get GT5 released that will be it for this console generation. From there on there will be no GT6 etc, but substantial content packs coming out each year or so to keep the GT5 platform fresh, perhaps with a different direction. One year a Classic Car Pack, the next a Racing Car pack etc and each time throwing in a few new courses as well. I remember this direction was hinted at some time ago, although I haven't seen it repeated or confirmed recently.

Will I be buying additional packs ? Well I paid $NZ60 for a souped up demo and I'm definately not feeling ripped off, so the obvious answer is yes. Once we FINALLY get GT5 of course. :indiff:

Didn't we already cover this topic in detail?

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=109023

If you read a couple pages in, you can see we already had a very heated discussion on paying for content in GT5:P.

It did get a bit heated lol. Saying that though, i'd still be prepared to shell out for some JGTC cars, just to hear what the real sound difference is in GT5p.

EDIT: I still love the XR8 Falcon, looks cool, and sounded cool - even back in the days of GT3.

Man that was a heated debate lol. I started this thread after drooling over some of the Forza 2 game options. Some of the custom paint jobs people make in that game blow me away. And to think they would look TWICE as good in GT5! As m00ndancer points out, much like I read in the Forza 2 forums, if you do not have that car downloaded, you see a giant square block lol. I thought that PS3 HOME was going to be free? I am excited to see how they connect GT5 to HOME.

It was a little heated but I think we were still friends when the dust settled. As for paying for DLC, the only thing I'll pay for in prologue is the Ring, other than that I can wait for GT5 full.

I enjoyed the original NFS online, custom paint, rims, body kits, wings, the whole deal. I think that GT5 should envolve some of those elements. make everyones car unique.

Yeah man Uniqueness is so sick. Having a car that is your own, and not just another one of that you bought from the factory. Having a car that you put ALOT of time into painting and customizing and tuning to be you special baby. Not something you go to the auto mart and buy in the same exact common red pattern as everyone else. UNIQUE so when you blow by them and yank a first place they say DAMN I will watch out for the green tick tack M3! Sorry this probably doesn't belong in my post it is pretty off topic to what I started lol, but I have been spending a lot of time on the Forza 2 boards looking at peoples custom paint schemes. I do not even own an XBOX 360 lol.

In NFS I had a dark red RX7, with the GREEDY custom tuner logo right down the side of it in purple. People always used to recognise it.

This only means that GT5 and PD is steering away from the sim and want to please the people who want looks and TV shows more than what the game was supposed to be.

So my answer would be a fat NO. They're already making money but they should be thinking about pleasing hardcore GT fans instead of trying to sway them with "TV shows and other stuff that has nothing to do with actually racing". And I really hope not if you guys making it sound like with the track packs and all, having to pay for online and pay for everything, not only just the $60 price tag(may be more)

No I don't think they are going to charge for online at all Mine's_GTR. I was just asking about the track packs and cars after reading about how some other games do it and wondering how PS3 owners would feel about it. So far nothing has been said about any kind of extra cost for anything besides the television shows you can rent. I think people like looks. I mean if every car was the same color and looked exactly the same but had serious hard core ultra realistic game physics, it still would only be half as fun IMO. SOME people might not care what the cars look like at ALL and focus 100% on the driving aspect. I think there is room for both types of people in this game.

I would only pay if they made it a good price...othervise I'd expect it all to be free. They'll make cash out of Gran Turismo 5 anyway.

PD have always used the same basic senario, since day one. They need to change their style completely, or they will get stomped by the microsoft competition.

I already pay for downloadable content for a racing simulation, im a member of www.iracing.com

They laser scan tracks and cars, so the accuracy is there, and each car and track costs between $15 and $25, depending on what it is. Thats on top of the annual subscription that is needed to race. They have a fully developed Sporting Code as well, that excludes wreckers and bad drivers. You are assessed penalty points for every contact, every off track excursion, every loss of control. You need to be able to run clean laps in order to race the higher spec cars. Its a good system that works well imo.

I can see most, if not all games going pay per content. It allows developers to keep games alive for longer with a constant revenue stream.

What is wrong with you people, I expect to get at least the same amount of tracks and cars that were in GT4. If they want to charge for some extra skylines and 19th century cars that is fine by me, but please let me get a complete GT5 game for my money.

Then wait and buy the complete GT5. You are playing Prologue.
