I said when it comes to amount of content vs $.
And F1 games aren't pay per month.

True, F1 games aren't pay per month. But few of them also have the same depth of simulation. On a side note, I just downloaded the awesome Targa Florio track mod for grand prix legends. A team of people spent over four years making it. At 71.98 km, it has to be the most impressive mod for any game. Another person worth a mention is the Australian who traveled to the Isle of man and spent some time researching, talking with the locals/experts, videoing and taking pictures of the snaefell mountain track. He single handedly crafted a great "short" version of the track. Not sure you can call 15 miles "short". He is currently working on the full length 37.5 mile track since the game has been patched to run longer tracks.

It almost makes me feel guilty that I legally got these great mods for free. A paypal donation is in order to both.

Because the new tyre model is vastly different to the old one. Have been playing with the Skippy on the NTM and everything I learned on the old tyres I needed to relearn and adjust my driving style on the new.

we just got 2 new cars :)
And considering that the new tire model will arrive on all cars you could say we are getting ALOT of new cars.

You are talking about physics right? Because when you say "new cars" usually the rest of the world mean "new driveable 3d models". But in case they are really going to add "new cars" that's good to know.
PS Targa Florio available for rFactor1 too.

Good lord are you taking this personally. Maybe try the bloody game first eh? Get over the fact rfactor, GTL, GTP, evo, gtr2,..... ARE NOT and NEVER WILL be as REALISTIC as Iracing. That does not mean they aren't good games but Iracing is simply the best for realism and physics.

Yea, physics. Physics that change the cars personality so drastically you could assume it was a new car.

You and the "rest of the world" (whatever that means) is driving homemade physics models with homemade 3d models where the creator "assumes" a car that he designs should feel like.

BIG difference. It´s all about quality really. Quality costs money, crap does not.

P.S. Cars in iRacing with the original tire model is vastly superior to 99.9% of all mods out there. Just imagine the new tire model...

Well id love iracing with tons of cars and tracks. Then I wouldn't mind subscription. But now, I wouldn't play to be good enough to win prizes. I'd never be that good bummer.

Tons of cars and tracks and you'd be broke haha.

Fanboys: everything else which doesn't belong to their favourite brand is crap.
From this statement you are basically saying every freeware mod is crap because it's freeware. :dunce: LOL

what a pointless discussion........

Dude, why can´t you realise that i´ve been playing Rfactor, Simbin games etc etc for YEARS before i tried iRacing.

I think i´m atleast more qualified then YOU to determine whats best, iracing or some mods made in a basement somewhere with sound taken from youtube videos.
You are the fanboy. I´m the open minded guy and if a game comes out that trumps iRacing in physics i would jump ship instantly.
But the reality is that iRacing is really lightyears ahead of anything called Rfactor, Simbin etc.

Lol. Oh yeah I forgot, they charge for each. Well, you know what I mean.

Is there demo or trial for iracing?

Try iracing.com

Good god just listen man! Like you said yourself with those two massive mod tracks- they were done with photos and video cameras. Does that sound like laser scanned tracks with detection of change up to 1mm? And again do any of those mods have access to the real cars to model then to exact specifications? No! That's what your paying for and yes that is quality stuff.

Boy, this argument is crazy:lol:

Nobody is saying the modders for rFactor, GTR1, yada, yada are dumb or stupid. They do a good job on mods with their limited resources.

iRacing has laser scanned tracks and test sessions with the cars at the track. The tracks are ridiculously modeled to near perfection from trackside objects to every bump on the circuit. Real world teams are partnered with iRacing giving real data and feedback in their sim.

Really the argument seems to be over having to pay for services. Our hard earned money that we shell out for iRacing goes back into iRacing to evolve and improve the simulation.

@HKS Have you tried iRacing? If not, then all of this is a waste. No need to argue over something you've never played.

Racing drivers disagree with you.

I mean heck, its iRacing, they arent gonna step backwards in physics. This is pointless discussion.

PC Race Games- Arcade/Sim list:
(These are all up-to-date, multiplatform titles with stunning graphics)
F1 2010 - DX9 -> Directx 11
Dirt 3 / Dirt 2 -- DX9 -> DirectX 11
Shift 2 - DirectX 9

PC Sims:
(All PC Sims are older tech catering to directx 9 and lower)
rFactor ++++ (I love this game)
GTR Evolution (Nürburgring!) --- very high quality +++++ It comes with the Race '07 platform so you can enjoy Simbin's new content such as GT Power expansion, etc in addition to the Formula car material
GTR 2 (not related to GTR Evo), already in the OP. Looks nice especially with ENB Series (HDR) and the right palette textures (can also be used with all gMotor2 titles like rFactor, etc). It has many great mods available for it you are very lucky to already own it. WSGT is one of my favorites for it.

iRacing, great online but can get pricey hella fast. Limited selection of cars all costing $12 but done to high standards. Laser scanned tracks, etc. The innovative SR system will enforce clean racing

All these games are great but rFactor + mods is my #1 pretty much (mostly offline tho). I love Dirt 3 for some fun, lighthearted racing. The online modes are amazing. I hate being wrecked with a passion. In dirt 3, being Rally racing and other fun modes, you dont have to worry about wreckers period (unless you Rally Cross). So I am insanely in love with Dirt 3++++

rFactor mods I recommend:
ENB Series for HDR
Enduracers for LMP cars
Formula One 2010 Season
V8Factor
Real Feel
DRM & DTM
+ many other wonderful mods! You will never ever, ever run out of content & cars!

Any maps by Com8, Virtua_LM, Eastern creek, etc

Out-of-the-box, for a console / mainstream style racer I recommend GTR Evolution because it has amazing FFB out of the box along with licensed cars. I got GTR Evo for $7 bucks awhile ago at half price books. I got rFactor for $20 at FRY'S. For just a little bit of money I am having tons of fun 👍

That's so awesome f1 fan. Does gpl have demo? I'll check it out.

Then you would be making a huge mistake to bypass rFactor. It has tons of quality F1 mods (like CDTP, etc). Here is a linky to see for yourself (just scroll through all the rFactor news blurbs and relish in all the rich F1 material). There is always a new F1 car popping up. One of the newest mods is LMT F1 2010. It's gotten a little flak from some folks about the physics which might be true but its great fun although I still might prefer FSONE 2010.

I must have missed that. There is a demo available of gpl, but you'll probably have but you'll have to download Gemp2 and Nigels new rasterizers. If you're playing with a keyboard, you'll need either GPLKM or GPLkeys.

All of the above are very easy to find and worth it to play the awesome GPL.

Oh right iRacing also has an F1 car which is very fun to drive that is one of the cars I purchased. Problem is until you reach Class A you won't get credit for driving it but you can still practice in it and engage in private hosted sessions with it

And no, don't think its easy to find a free trial. No one is answering you directly because there might be a promotion someplace. I paid just $12 for a 3 month trial and it can be a good deal. Community is nice to slow drivers I would say but their iRating system isn't very forgiving from what I noticed. You earn SR being slow and careful but iRating might take a dive. But not sure how important that is being just a mere Class D driver myself. But concern yourself not with that since you will be just a Rookie. You will only see yer SR, not your iRating

I am going to try all I can. Not just gpl.
Gtr2 won't work on windows 7. I installed a gtr demo and it said error it only works win98 - 2003. Didn't say vista or later. Ran as windows xp but still won't work. So I deleted it.

Gpl is bad graphics in the demo, of course it's old. I got it to drive but no backwards. It was using my keyboard since I haven't connected my DFGT.

I installed rfactor demo too. Opened it and it said I have 60 minutes left. I didn't go past the first screen cus I didn't connect my DFGT.

I bought race Pro used for my xbox 360. It seems OK for $10. Sucks I can't drive all cars on all tracks. Seems as it only has 11 or 12 tracks and 49 cars or less but many being the same.

The most sense anybody has made in a while. HKS you just don't get it and I'm very done with this. You've now got 3 people telling you the same thing in different ways but your closed mindedness and inability to see what others are saying is beyond rediculous.

Like plate88 says have you even tried it? I'm thinking not.

I have and it's not for me. I have the 3 months deal right now and when that runs out I'm likely done simply because I could use the money for other things with the amount of time I'm actually able to play it. I still stand by the fact that it's the best pure sim out there but the money is definately the big drawback not that that's any shock to anybody. Now would a fanboy stop playing the game he is accused being a fanboy of? I think not.

@LMSCorvetteGT2, my avatar is actually from Shift 2 PC (DLC 3, exclusive PC content). It's the Zonda Cinque Roadster fully works modified :sly:
