buggs1a
My wheel is brand new like week and a half or so and is fine on the ps3.

Hmm about gtr. Sure would like to try it.

I don't have a logitech wheel but I'd try going to their website and see if they have drivers there and try and reinstall those.

Thanks. I downloaded the software and the date on it is like August 2010 or close I think. Since I got the wheel couple weeks ago I would think cd is the same. But I'll try yer suggestions. The thing is though it does the auto calibration right when it gets power. So turn on the pc and it auto calibrated. The wheel stop where the face is like on the left. Like if you turn left that's how it stops. When you move it you have lots of resistance. Then it just goes back.

Edit......
OK sweet. I tried again and it worked. Didn't need to re install.

Ran rfactor for a bit. Bought the bmw f1 car. Tried it a bit on the track. Game thinks the break is pressed and I dunno why. But it was nice cus id need it to help me slow for the corners.

Nice car. Nice force feedback. Nice graphics. I like how the tires look. Sounded nice too.

So I could get into this. Except I don't have a comfortable chair and I have a hurt tailbone.

I'll possibly buy rfactor.

I'm going to try iracing probably. I'll try GTR Evolution. I'd like to try GTR2 but it won't work.

You need to unplug and plug your DFGT in every time you turn your PC on... Or at least that's what I have to do. Not sure if they applies to other sims but for iRacing I have to sometimes re-calibrate my wheel in-game if it's the first time I've launched it since turning my PC on.

Im done, just showing my figures were not fabricated.

You keep insulting and you say you are done LOL. And seriously you talk like the typical noob that stick to rFactor central and doesn't have a clue on what's goin on in other sites. High poly models convertions with proper shading, templates and interiors? Seriously you don't know what you are talking about, Rfactorcentral is the old stuff and it DOES NOT represent all the Rfactor mods. How you can quantify the number of mods available on the net? There are simply too many sites and for every crap mod there's a great one so the 80% thing doesn't make sense. Enduracers mod with Add-on cars is a game by its own. http://f1classic.your-talk.com/t6419-endurance-series-addon-v21
SandroX on his blog has released: Pagani Huraya, Maserati Gran Turismo, Radical and many other cars and series. With modding games you have to know where to look at, there are so many sites, use google, search the right forums, keep the good stuff, trash the s***, have fun with the good stuff. It's a different approach from normal games but it's very rewarding once you know how things works.
About GTR2 I tell you these two modders, Merlin and Mac10. I've just downloaded the complete GT3 class, BMW Alpina B6, Matech Ford GT, Gallardo LP 560 GT3 etc.. All great high poly stuff, if they'll accept you on their sites you'll understand.

Thanks.
Any thoughts on live for speed? And is it pronounced live or live? :)

Also do any of these games take advantage of multi core?

Live (li-vuh, short i vowel). Most of these games don't take proper usage of multi-core CPU, but the CPUs themselves are capable of splitting the load appropiately. But yeah, it's about time programmers took advantage, properly, of multi-core CPUs.

Also for the record I just voted at rFactorCentral for some of my favorite tracks and now with 100% certainty I can say I understand how their voting system works. They intentionally only set a max limit of 35 mods in the Hall of Fame. That doesn't at all mean there are only 35 worthy mods for rFactor. It just means they only show the top 35 the community voted for (you can only vote for like 5, each user only gets 5 votes so I am unable to vote for all 50 of my favorites if you follow). I thought that was rather odd.

This post is a response to what MildAshers said earlier. Anyway you know I respect as a quality member, racer, etc. I just figured you made an honest mistake there. Maybe it's been a couple years since you used the voting system since you're obviously busy pwning in iRacing :D

Btw buggs1a, you might also want to checkout netkar PRo 1.3. Very current graphics wise but not as full featured as iRacing, GTR, or rFactor from what i could tell in the demo

See for yourself right here: Very quality graphics, current. linky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5MDV3woRoM

Note: do not look at vids for older netkar pro version which use an outdated renderer

Yaaaay. Thanks!! That's the game I was talking about when I said hk race pro. Lol.

Forgive me for this but id like some info on rfactor.

How much is it?
Since I downloaded the demo it says I don't need anything else. Does the demo have the same stuff on the dvd?

Does their site list everything it has? I will go there again.

Is there a manual?

Can I set the game resolution to 1680x1050? I think that's my resolution for my 20.1" monitor.

How do the mods work?

How can mods be made?

When someone makes a mod can they improve the graphics much if any? To look better then the stock game?

What would you recommend for a chair and wheel set up for me and my pc?

Will I be able to do max graphics with my pc?
Quad 9550.
8gb ram.
GeForce 9800 xt? 512mb.
1680x1050 20.1" monitor.
1tb 7200 rpm sata 2 drive.
Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

I'm also interested in all the others suggested here.

What's the sim racing site with Jessica and a guy who video reviews? I lost my bookmark.

Is there any site that is about all these games and reviews them and has info about them?

Thanks so much for the help. If possible id like to send all of you any gt5 gift except tickets since I have none. Like paint, cars etc. I'd like to return the favor and maybe it's a little incentive to help and answer all of my questions. I know I'm asking alot of ?'a. I just mean it will be nice to have all this in one place. And I really want to return the favor.

It's not a demo, it's a time limited full version. If you buy an unlock code from the website, it will cost you £25. You can find it on DVD at Amazon for around £15-20

Does their site list everything it has? I will go there again.
Yes it does.

Is there a manual?
Yes, rFactor/support/rFactorManual.pdf. You will find it when you install the game, in the start menu.

Can I set the game resolution to 1680x1050? I think that's my resolution for my 20.1" monitor.
Yes, use rFactor config. You will find it when you install the game, in the start menu.

How do the mods work?
Usually when you download them, you can put them into the directories. Tracks go into the GameData/Locations folder, cars go into the GameData/Teams folder. When you download one from rFactorCentral (google it), they will usually have the directory structure in place for you to unzip them easily. If not, most others will have their own installation programs. If you get really stuck, rFC has an one-click installation system.

How can mods be made?
Dunno, you need a lot of work with 3DSMax.

When someone makes a mod can they improve the graphics much if any? To look better then the stock game?
Yes, there are graphical mods, ENBSeries is the most impressive as it can radically alter the colour pallette to make it more realistic, and add things like bloom, lens flare and HDR lighting.

What would you recommend for a chair and wheel set up for me and my pc?
Whatever is the best you can afford. If you're on a budget, go for the Logitech DFGT, if you have more money, the Logitech G25 or G27, or the Fanatec wheels.

Will I be able to do max graphics with my pc?
Quad 9550.

You might need to reduce down to 1440x900 to keep it stable and high FPS.

What's the sim racing site with Jessica and a guy who video reviews? I lost my bookmark.
Inside sim racing.

Sorry you feel that way. I didn't see your post pre-edit, so don't know if you said anything else, but a lot of your questions can be answered on Google. Saving everyone time.

I don't get it why pc games are so limited in tracks and cars.

In the case of retail games its a matter of licensing which costs a lot of money. Most of the companies making racing sims are small-ish and don't have the funding to go out and license a ton of cars and tracks if they don't have some affiliation with a specific racing association.

Free mods on the other hand are not limited by these issues.

Missed this class one from you.

I have all those mods you mentioned, they are ok. Nothing special. Fun yes, mind blowing not by a long john.

Thanks for assumptions :)

I was referring to official cars and tracks, not mods.

Because licenses are expensive and sim racing is a relatively niche market. Maybe if the first game sells well, they'll put more content into the second game. But for the first installment, they'll generally aim for the same number of tracks as their competitors.

Another thing worth mentioning is that in sim games, a lot more time is usually spent recreating tracks/cars/damage models etc than for your average mainstream game. So although they may have fewer cars and tracks, the overall depth of the simulation is much deeper. Sims like Iracing are popular with real racing drivers as they are almost as good as a practice session at the track.
