I do not think this has been discussed as yet; but PD have, it seems, removed disqualification for hitting the AI cars in the license tests. After seeing my son getting away with some outrageous moves I loaded up IC-10 and quite literally bulldozed my way up to third place before the back straight on the first lap and got away with it. Try as I might, I could not get a disqualification from ramming an AI car.

What is it with PD and GT5, there seem to be so few difficult challenges left ? Ironically the hardest event in GT5 - Vettel, really has no place in a GT game - it would be more suited to Wipeout Fury.

Whatever happened to the imagination and dare I say it, commitment, from PD that gave us proper GT challenges in previous versions; GT4 Mission 34 was the pinnacle but there were other missions, license tests and even races that helped us hone our skills and made us raise our game .

Dumbed down AI, races, Seasonal Events and now licences. Very sad.

I hope you are right, maybe now ill be able to gold all licenses 👍.

Lucky I completed all of them when they were harder. (wait for it)

If this is true, I'm going to bulldoze my way through the Super License R246 test.

I keep ending in 3rd place!

that sucks! Im not saying that alot of my time went into licenses to get all 60 gold.. but still this is not fair.. I had to drive properly and get gold fairly.. and now 10 year olds can smash theyre way into a gold with any presision whatsoever..

The GT series is my favourite clutch of games because they're difficult, if the dumbed down license tests turns out to be true, well......what's the point?

That's a good thing, I could never get first place because I'd end up "bumping" a car turning.

Let me direct those of you that are upset here.

PD just can't make up their mind if the game should be hard or not...

Lol. Best thread ever.

It is the best thread ever!

Funny thing is, was it intentional or unintentional?

Anyway, looks like PD dumbing down things is in the footprints of schools in America dumbing down the curriculum a bit.

I agree with your sentiments. The GT series has lost so much.

I for one am glad they got rid of disqualifications for bumps. I would say 90% of the time I was disqualified was for the stupid AI BUMPING ME!!

If that's true, then PD have messed up in my opinion. They already dumbed the career mode down by making licenses optional. If they make the license test's so easy that anyone can gold them, then they remove all sense of achievement. I'm not asking for impossibly difficult license test's, I just want to be able to get a sense of achievement from golding them. I have golded them all, and some of them took a lot of effort, I don't want every Tom, Dick and casual Harry to breeze through them.

You chose to do them. They were not a requirement to progress through the game. There was no real reward for completing them. Why do you care if others can now do them easier? How does it actually effect you in any way? It's funny that you say 10 year olds will be smashing their way to gold when you are the one crying about something that has absolutely 0 impact on the rest of the game...wait, are you 10yrs old? :sly:

Ditto

They weren't really that hard in the first place. Certainly not the S-License tests, they were a piece of cake compared to the single flying lap challenges of previous games.

If I read this correctly then you should already have this "sense of achievement" because you already completed them. Are you saying that someone else getting it done easier is going to diminish your own self worth? It seems all many here care about these tests for is some sort of delusional comparison that makes them feel somehow superior to someone else.

As for the sense of achievement...It's a game, games are supposed to be fun. It's not like golding a test in GT5 is somehow going translate into a real life achievement...

It amuses me how so many people preach about challenge and achievement and all they really care about is their epeen

There's no challenge ANYWHERE in this game except for driving Tuscany in a 🤬'd up LP640 with no headlights in the dark.

And online, where, due to the whiner generation there's no way to use License level or A-Spec level to winnow out the ten-year-olds (or those that drive like them).

I don't get it, I really don't. GT5 is the world's best selling car title, and all others are flamed for being 'arcade', but it's the EASIEST to cheat, exploit and wherever it wasn't, PD crumble to pressure and make it so it CAN. Shift's AI was MUCH harder to beat, and there wasn't a litany of complaints that it should be nerfed so that a six-year old with a gamepad could beat it in his sleep. Why were 'arcade' players so willing to accept a challenge, and 'sim' GT5 users so unwilling?

Time for PD to grow a pair. They already sold 6M copies of this game. They made their money. And then some. Time to turn this game BACK into a challenge, not make it even EASIER. All the ten-year-olds that are going to buy this game already made Mommy and Daddy get it for them. And are duping and A-Spec auto grinding until they go blind!

Who CARES if a couple of ten-year-olds can't get every License, anyway?

Apparently, PD... :yuck::grumpy:

All it takes is persistence, mate. On all of the Super license tests, I got at least silver the first go-round or three. I'd have to restart a test to learn where and when I could accelerate, brake, what the optimal driving line was, etc., but getting all gold was do-able.

Well after doing a few license tests, i can say that they are a bit easier but i still managed to get disqualified quite a few times when hitting stuff.

Well im not one of the hardcore gt players so the less penalties the better..(for me at least):sly:

My problem is that they're changing the difficulty of the tests through patches. A difficult test on GT5 V.1 could become easy on GT5 V.6 which means those who made an effort and used skill to pass the test on V.1 have wasted all their effort if a 10 year old can ram their way to gold on V.6. The license tests are optional anyway, getting gold on them should be an achievement and a test of driving skill, nothing to do with 'epeens'. Everyone has different perceptions of fun, many people find it fun to gold license tests, if they were easy they wouldn't be fun in my opinion.

It may be fun for you
but for others (like me) i don't have time to do the same test over and over just to get an extra half second for gold:dunce:

No. All it takes is a patch. There is no reason I should be disqualified for AI "on tracks" bumping into me because we are taking different lines. Get rammed by the AI and disqualified about 6 or 7 times in a row in different corners and then talk to me about persistence. I drive to win.

K. Thanks!

So, PD's messed up collision detection is at fault (you DID often get DSQ'd for the 'on-rails' scripted AI plowing right into you), and how do they respond?

Make better collision detection? NOOOOOoooooooo!

Make NO collision detection! (or remove a large part of it)...

GT5... The Ultimate Laziness Simulator. 👎

I think what PD really needed to do was reduce the threshold for getting DQ'ed due to contact with the AI, but not necessarily remove the penalty altogether, because it gets quite frustrating when this happens and you didn't initiate the contact.

I had all silvers and a couple of golds before for the S-license. I just re-did them yesterday to get all golds with a few bumps along the way.

Is the DQ still in place for the special events too? I'm thinking of the Top Gear samba bus challenge...
