It may be fun for you
but for others (like me) i don't have time to do the same test over and over just to get an extra half second for gold:dunce:

I can understand that not everyone has the time to gold the tests, so that's fine. But if I may ask, if you don't find golding licenses fun, then why do it? They're optional and golds don't count towards completion. Golding license tests is an extra achievement for those of us do find it fun to get gold. It would invalidate all our efforts if everyone could get golds easily. There's no challenge in games anymore, gold used to mean something, now most games award it for simple tasks.

Apologies if this post appears elitist, but I'm just giving my honest opinion. Golds aren't required for completion in GT5 but it's an extra achievement for those of us who like a challenge.

If you have not beaten the license tests in gold already like me, chances are you were not going to. This is great for me because now I am going to get all gold and I know it is attainable to me.

I just don't get why the collision detection is so bad in GT5...

It models damage, so force of contact and point of impact are calculated. So why can't the game distinguish between YOU hitting the AI (your bumper or front quarter contacting their rear bumper or back quarter) and THEIR front quarter or bumper contacting YOUR rear end?

Facepalm...

My problem is that they're changing the difficulty of the tests through patches. A difficult test on GT5 V.1 could become easy on GT5 V.6 which means those who made an effort and used skill to pass the test on V.1 have wasted all their effort if a 10 year old can ram their way to gold on V.6. The license tests are optional anyway, getting gold on them should be an achievement and a test of driving skill, nothing to do with 'epeens'. Everyone has different perceptions of fun, many people find it fun to gold license tests, if they were easy they wouldn't be fun in my opinion.

My point still stands. You already completed them when they were challenging. Who cares if someone else can do them easier now? I imagine almost everyone that cares about the challenge and thinks it is fun to gold the license test has already done so. Yer basically saying that by them changing this it will no longer be fun for anyone else. And I fail to see how it was "wasted effort" if you actually do find the license test's to be "fun". If someone is having fun doing something then that isn't a waste. The only two ways for it to be considered a waste to me are if you are using it as a basis for comparison to someone else, hence epeen. Or if it were an actual requirement to progress through the game like the previous titles. But even then it would only be a waste if you didn't enjoy doing them. Yet everyone who is crying about them now being too easy are also the ones claiming they had fun/enjoyed completing them... The math doesn't add up to me. I think it's just a matter of people being fake and wanting to hide their own self centered greed.

And yes before someone asks, I didn't gold any of the tests before. Mainly because I didn't do them as it's not required by the game and you don't get anything of value for doing so. Now that they are easier I'm still not going to do them because I don't enjoy the license test and as such would be a waste of MY time.

I've just gone back and won Gold on the S-4 and S-8. These were the only two licence tests left that I couldn't do better than Bronze on, yet I managed to get Gold by ramming past the other cars just to see if I could really get away without being disqualified. I guess it goes to show how much some of these licence tests have 'Dumbed down'.

to some people saying that 10 year olds will be able to smash through everything and get 60 gold, still remember that most of the tests are time based, so they won't be able to get them all gold... but i feel happy that i just had gotten gold on my Super License just before the update :D

Personally, I feel sad for all the NEW players coming to GT5, expecting a challenging game.

Sorry, guys. Blame it on the kids. :grumpy: :yuck:

There's no challenge ANYWHERE in this game except for driving Tuscany in a 🤬'd up LP640 with no headlights in the dark.

And online, where, due to the whiner generation there's no way to use License level or A-Spec level to winnow out the ten-year-olds (or those that drive like them).

I don't get it, I really don't. GT5 is the world's best selling car title, and all others are flamed for being 'arcade', but it's the EASIEST to cheat, exploit and wherever it wasn't, PD crumble to pressure and make it so it CAN. Shift's AI was MUCH harder to beat, and there wasn't a litany of complaints that it should be nerfed so that a six-year old with a gamepad could beat it in his sleep. Why were 'arcade' players so willing to accept a challenge, and 'sim' GT5 users so unwilling?

Time for PD to grow a pair. They already sold 6M copies of this game. They made their money. And then some. Time to turn this game BACK into a challenge, not make it even EASIER. All the ten-year-olds that are going to buy this game already made Mommy and Daddy get it for them. And are duping and A-Spec auto grinding until they go blind!

Who CARES if a couple of ten-year-olds can't get every License, anyway?

Apparently, PD... :yuck::grumpy:

I couldn't have said it better myself!!!

To be honest i tried, but you nailed it.

some people here have too much time with their hands.

Doesn't this belong on the 'Why has my PP dropped?' thread? :sly:

You've also got to admire the epic logic fail of posting the very thing you are complaining about. Congratulations.

I found golding the license tests to be a blast. Besides some of the special events and the GT world championship: they were the best thing in the game. I loved having to overtake all those cars without even blowing on them with my wake. I felt damn proud of myself after many of them. Someday PD will come out with something like: "Will make you want to kill yourself Professionals Only Pack". Races will be epic: DQs will rain down and millions of children will want their money back.

It can't come a day to soon, for me...

The point that everyone moaning about the AI and collision detection in the licenses test completely miss was that you were supposed to win the event without touching the AI cars, and consider a touch and no disqualification as lucky. The skill that required... is no longer required, and in my opinion the Gran Turismo brand has been damaged even further.

And YOU have missed the point that, even when it is NOT YOUR FAULT, and the 'on-rails' AI hit you instead, you got a DSQ. I imagine that THAT was what PD were responding to.

Question ?

Any body tried the RWD Slalom test to see if that is easier ?
Got 59 gold and this one in silver.

Edit running 24 hour race so can not see myself.

If there's luck involved, it's not a test of skill. Period.

At this rate the most difficult thing to do in a years time is inserting the GT5 disk right-side up.

I mite have to check em out, id love to get alll golds at some stage without spending a lot of time on them, but sure it defeats the purpose of a challenge.

I golded all licenses last year, and I don't mind this change at all.

I guess now that everyone can gold, your fancy signature is no longer awesome, must be a sad day.

Exactly. I guess what many here fail to realize is that in racing, inadvertent contact happens all the time, the tests were so far beyond realistic is was sickening.

Is the DQ still in place for the special events too? I'm thinking of the Top Gear samba bus challenge...

Well it definitely is still there for the Nascar Special Events as was trying them yesterday.

This is an unfortunate way to solve the problem with the AI in licence tests, but sadly the way many of the Licence Tests/Special Events were relied far to much on being very lucky with where you were on the track than they had to do with driver skill. PD had to to something.

They already dumbed the career mode down by making licenses optional.
Load of nonsense. The only thing forced licence tests contributed to in previous games in the series is bad game design. They were arbitrary, repetitive, and by and large comparatively useless for building up practical skills. Making them optional is the single best thing that PD ever did with GT Life mode.

I was sitting at 59 gold before the patch so i dont mind too much. Finished the rwd slalom two days ago. I did it in 5-10 tries when i had spent a good 30 min on it a month ago with no luck

I would be interested to know if they made em all easier or if i got better hehe

I wouldn't necessarily say it makes all the license tests easy to gold--only the lap battles and such with AI drivers. My main problem with those was when the AI would bump me or run me off the road, causing a DQ in the process.

I decided to go back through the licenses again today to finally finish them (only the S License left now), though I had no idea the tests with AI were made easier until then. I'm striving for Gold, but more than happy with Silver. It's only frustrating when I'm off the Gold mark by a couple thousandths of a second. Not tenths, not hundredths--Thousandths!!

The only tests I probably can't even get a silver in are the cone slaloms and that stupid 512BB lap battle. That test makes me hate that car.

So this means when I am doing IC10 for the umptenth time again, when Richard Cranium decides to turn into me 10 seconds from the finish line, I will not be penalised - cool!

Meh, I don't think that this will make a big difference to the "coveted" "All Golds Medal", the biggest difficulties are always in the "Take this corner exactly perfect" tests.

For the few thousand people talking here, maybe some or even most of them would agree. But that's the enthusiasts.

I imagine the other few million people who bought the game will be rather pleased by this. Brand improved.
