perhaps GT6 is falling behind.

The question is when does it become to late? A lot of my friends have already given up. Some have already sold the game. Some would still probably play if there was new content to keep the game fresh. New tracks and a course maker will go a long way. I think PD is shooting themselves in the foot by taking so long. I love this game. It's my go to game and it's starting to get a little stale.

But some have. To say that nothing has arrived isn't an opinion, it's false.
What the hell are you talking about? (excuse my language but it's necessary for this reply). THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SINGLE TRACK RELEASED SINCE GT6 CAME OUT. You must be talking about Forza, made by a company that actually treats the customers and not trolls them like PD with lies and false advertising. By now there should be 4-5 tracks released as DLC already. By the way, where is this Spain track that was supposed to come out in February? Can you explain that for us?

For the purposes of the discussion we're having they are weighted equally. People really wanting the course maker doesn't make it less likely to show up.

I said that the course maker is coming, he said it wasn't. I brought up the other promised features because we are getting them steadily. The current update history suggests that the course maker and the rest of the promised features will come because they are starting to check items off of that list. That's the point I'm trying to make, it's the point I've been trying to make for some time now. Not just in this thread.

Taku Imasaki answered a tweet about it last month

https://twitter.com/takuimasaki/statuses/441238177433403392
But in the eyes of every GT fan in the world features aren't weighted equally. Everyone has their favourites and different priority lists and again, I'd suggest that if you put Course Maker and Community Features up against everything else combined, it would be a close race. And when the features PD chooses to release first are retreads from GT5 combined with stuff that can't be used by most of us, people are bound to be upset.

You have no evidence to say when its going to come either, that's the point you have missed. The evidence we have does however make it more than reasonable to be very sceptical of any deadlines or time frames, given that very few have either been given or achieved.

What you don't seem to get is that the vast majority of the public don't generally like to either be told 'just wait it will come when it comes' or even worse be given timeframes that come and go without explanation. GT as a series can not survive on a ever reducing core that are happy to simply wait with no idea of when anything is coming, and as a very long term fan of the series that concerns me deeply.

Right with what? That stuff will come eventually? That's hardly a real challenge now is it, now giving an actually date (even month) or this stuff and being right, now that would see you being 'right'.

Its the utter lack of communication and missed timescales that are the problem, I'm not sure exactly why you can't see that.

Uuuuhhh....When did I say I knew when the course maker was coming? I only said (as I've been saying) that it will come, as the current evidence suggests. You seem to keep trying to turn this into a debate of when rather than if even though it was your post in the first place that brought up *if*.

If we're having a debate about when we'll get it than I'll gladly admit I don't have any idea when it's coming. But since you brought up that you don't think it's coming at all, I'm saying I'm pretty confident we'll get the course maker.

Your origional post has nothing to do with timescales. There isn't anything to get.

Half? Really.

A quick look at the update section of the GT6 website would seem to indicate otherwise. Not to mention the point that has already been raised about 'weight' of what has been added. Exactly how many owners of GT6 do you see using the GPS tool?

Not only is the Track DLC late, the 'news' on the first track is late and the DLC packs for cars are also late, that's quite a bit of late stuff.

Uuuuhhhh yes. Nearly half, just as I said. We have 3 or the 8 promised features (although the mobile app really can't come until the community features do...I think.) That is as close as it can be to half without being at or above it. Hence, nearly half. Not including features we've gotten that we weren't promised but that's another topic.

When we're we supposed to get car packs? We've gotten cars...but I don't remember even being promised car packs at a certain time?

I agree, but this isn't a discussion of how happy people are with the updates or PD or GT6. As I said, for the purposes of the discussion, they are weighted equally because they are simply dots on a timeline.

This is likely to be made worse if the next feature released is B Spec, and it's not a substantial upgrade from GT5 B Spec.

This is a distinct possibility. They must know that they need to keep releasing stuff, or else people will go off the game entirely. As long as there's hope, most people will at least keep an ear cocked.

If everything else isn't working, they have a functional B Spec system from GT5. Presumably were push to come to shove, they could shoehorn it into GT6 in fairly short order.

Yes, we'd have another feature ticked off their list of updates.
No, it wouldn't be entirely clear why they waiting 5+ months to implement it.

This is another problem they face. The longer they wait, the higher the bar raises on how much better than the GT5 equivalent features they need to be. They cannot simply port B Spec and Course Maker at this point, they need to be pretty fantastic. And the Community Features need to be substantially excellent as well, not simply rehashes of what we had in GT5.

When we're we supposed to get car packs? We've gotten cars...but I don't remember even being promised car packs at a certain time?

Not packs, but they did place a timeline on the VGT cars; within the first twelve months. They have 27 cars to go, and 8 months to release them in.

I have severe doubts that PD can suddenly just vamp it up to 3+ cars a month, given that in 4+ months they've managed 7 and 3 modified versions of those. And the vast majority of those were at or shortly after release, meaning the work may have been done up front before the disc went on sale.

Umm? We have 8 months left in the year...we have no idea what PD has planned for the VGT cars or any of the other updates for that matter because they won't tell us (which sucks)

That's hardly what I'd call late, for all we know they are just going to dump all 27 remaining cars on us at once. Or, on the flipside we might not get them at all. Saying that they've already missed that deadline is no better than saying they've already made the deadline.

inb4 the course maker is the same as gt5 with like two minor improvements

"See, fans? We've been working on GT6 a lot!" - PD

Tell me where I said they already missed the deadline.

I was and am pointing out that they have a deadline, and the longer they go without releasing a car, the harder they're making on themselves.

I doubt their original plan was to dump 27 cars at the 12 month mark, because I can't see any reason why that would be preferable to having a couple of cars a month all year. Slowly pacing the content out and keeping customers engaged beats a gangbusters content dump well after a substantial proportion of your customers have given up the ghost, for me. PD may think otherwise, who knows.

We'll never know until we either hit the deadline or they actually release the cars, but looking at it on the basis of probabilities, the longer they stay under the release rate necessary to meet the deadline, the less likely they are to be able to meet that deadline. There's only so much you can do at crunch time.

1. You seem to think I'm trying to argue with you or do some kind of fm5 vs gt6.
Nope, not at all. Buuut. ;)
You must not know about the multitude of cars they removed...
And I said FM5: quality over quantity, then the arguement started.
Fm5 is lacking cars and tracks from fm4,that is the truth. Quality purposes or not,it happened and therefor made me bored of it quickly along with many others,my opinion.Gt6 GOD yes its lacking were all 400% aware of that.
Features wise, yes. That's the truth too. :sly:
2.It was sarcasm,no one has high hopes
It was difficult to tell if you were being sarcastic or not. :\

I'll end it here.

I think the problem is the delay GT5 got. If GT5 was not "delayed" all the cars would be up to date and GT7 would've been released for the 15th anniversary.

No, you didn't say anything about them missing it. Scaff did. My apalogies.

with the pressure there is now for making a GT game for PS4 and on the other hand the poor sales of GT6, I wonder if there will be any significant updates for GT6 in the future. You think Sony will allow them to waste so many resources on a lost cause? All the extra work and features probably won't have a large improvement on the sales anyway. Maybe I am wrong but I think we will see a few small updates for GT6 , while 90% of their resources are on GT7. The next installment has to make money, a lot of it. As said a few posts back, Sony won't except another failure!

I will if I like it, just like I did in GT5
They took the risk, that schedule is very exigent, and now they're facing the consequences, It wouldn't have failed if instead of "every month", they said "Every two or three months", less presure and more opportinuties to mess up
This is to keep players from having easy credits method
I think the same as you, supporting multiple games at once, not a good idea, look what happened to Call of Duty and what is happening to Battlefield, they have multiple games supporting and both franchises are facing serious problems, PD, on their part, have little experience supporting multiple games at once, they released GT5 late in the PS3/360 generation, and other studios have learned how to support multiple games at once.
When PD released GT4, there was no such way to support the game, let alone GT3.
Now, GT5P and GT5.. GT5 evolved very slowly when GT5P was still supported, once they stopped caring for GT5P, GT5 started to evolve in a faster way, and there's no way to deny that.

- DLCs - i also did it for gt5 but never thinking i would give them a lot of use. at gt6 i dont even have one make races, so i would use them even less. PD could deliver all cars i like for free, but the use i can give them is very limited since i'm mostly an offliner and arcade isnt enough.
- schedule - its a risky bet, but so would be to sell a finished GT6/ps3 only may/june with next-gen console and games in the market (driveclub was espected to be on stores in november 2013 and ps4 is a success). the risk of low sales was even worst, in my opinion.
- seasonal events - for me, in game credits, are one of the bad dicisions and 6 months after release, having no races at seasonal events cant be because of a "easy credits" problem. it feels like "stand by".

my main complain goes for the lack of communication and secondary for not having a ps4 version of gt6. communication about updates, dlcs , bugs that endure without fix, features that are being suggested since gt5 and have no response at all.
(ps4 gt6 version - not that i would pay another 64euros and not expecting it to be more than slighty better than ps3 version)

GT6 was doomed from the start by being released the same time as a new console. Therefore its always going to be a second rate game. They would of been better holding it back for the ps4 and throwing everything into it and making a game to "blow you away"
But nevertheless i like it...

You clearly did not read my post. Some promised features have come to GT6, and i'm sure the rest are on the way. If you want to say that PD has not given you one bit of promised content at this point in time, it is a 100%, downright, categorical lie.

You're lacking patience and the ability to read my posts.

You seem to lack the ability to comprehend that for some people, the manner in which the promised features have come to GT6, and the choice of which features have come does not in any way inspire confidence that the rest of the features are on their way.

Notwithstanding that PD's strike rate for meeting their commitments with regards to GT6 is not that high, and their communication post-release has been nearly non-existant. Anything that PD do say cannot be trusted, because even if plans change, such as with the track DLC plans or Zahara, they have demonstrated that they will not tell the consumer. The consumer is left to wait and see.

And so whether you view PD's statements on their website for future updates as firm commitments, or as more wishful thinking that may or may not happen, depends entirely on how positive you feel about PD.

I'm not surprised that some people felt a bit hard done by already after the catastrophe that was GT5 1.01, and the long struggle for that game to become something moderately worthy of the Gran Turismo name.
I'm not surprised that some people feel that GT6 is in some ways a step backwards feature-wise from GT5, because in many ways it is.
I'm not surprised that some people are unwilling to give PD and Kaz the benefit of the doubt. They've done little this generation to earn the trust of the consumer, and there's only so far that goodwill from 2005 will stretch.

But when people say they've received nothing from PD, when they have, that's a lie. Not once did I ever say that everything will definitely ever come. It's just some can't comprehend that there's as much a chance of it coming than of it not.

I'm not seeing a lot of people saying they've received nothing, and certainly not in the post you quoted above. I've just skimmed the last three pages, and I can't see anybody claiming that we received nothing.

I am seeing you say it a lot however.

Didn't we go through this just before with you claiming that people wanted GT to become an exact copy of Forza, when nobody said anything of the sort? Is this another case where you're fighting a straw man that nobody has actually said, or is there a source for this one?

Not once did I ever say that everything will definitely ever come.

You've come pretty bloody close.

Some promised features have come to GT6, and i'm sure the rest are on the way.

Forza 5: Quality over Quantity.

Nuff said.
Quantity is better than quality in terms of fun and gameplay. Nuff said. Graphics are only presentation. But the essence of the fun in the games is certainly not in the graphics.
I blame the stupidity of todays new gamers who give way too much importance to the graphics and not enough to the story and the gameplay.

->Gran Turismo 6 gets a new update
->Forza Motorsport 5 gets a brand-new track.

I'm starting to think that Gran Turismo has reached it's peak.

How will they fight (and survive) Forza Motorsport 5, if they don't deliver??

Wings? Custom wings? wtf????? If I want wings i'll go to KFC, If I want custom wings i'll make them at home.I want some tracks and cars, not wings, not data logger, no some stupid GPS gadget that only works if you have the right car………

https://www.gtplanet.net/gtplanet-weekly-rewind-gran-turismo-gives-you-wings/
This is basically saying we've got nothing from them because he doesn't like the features he's received.

You have to move forward before you can fall behind. They havn't moved in any direction since release.
This isn't true. It has received new content.

You've come pretty bloody close.

Me saying "i'm sure" is me, and it's my personal opinion. Does that mean it definitely will come?

The heck are you talking about? For one, I never even mentioned graphics once. And two, when I said Quality over Quantity for FM5, I meant T10 rebuilding their game from scratch and leaving out any old content to redo them again at a later time. This is something GT7 will have to do as well. However, I doubt there'll happen.

It's the blind loyalty that doesn't allow games to evolve.

Me saying "i'm sure" is me, and it's my personal opinion. Does that mean it definitely will come?

Of course not, unless you're secretly a PD staff member.

But you claimed that you didn't say that everything would definitely come. And really, you did say that. I'm not claiming that your opinion is worth anything in that it's accurately predicting the future, and you're more than entitled to think that if you like. I can see why you might think that way. But you did say that you were sure that the other updates are coming, and to try and claim that you didn't say that is not correct.

I guess you could find a source for your straw man either, hey?

Quality is more than just shiny graphics. Quality is having a camber system that works correctly, shadows and alpha effects that don't flicker and blur, an online system that doesn't bug out at every pit stop.

I agree that shiny graphics are no indicator of a fun game.

Quality gameplay is what ultimately makes a fun game. Quantity of gameplay means absolutely nothing, if that gameplay isn't fun. Getting poked in the ear isn't suddenly fun just because you're doing it a thousand times. Only once you have quality gameplay does it become worthwhile to increase the quantity of your gameplay.

Ok then, what's the point on redoing stuff again? And whats the point on leaving out old content, if, in the end, most people want old content and old tracks to keep being there to be played? Just watch the suggestions section, many of the most voted tracks are old original GT tracks.

The thing is tho.... besides some glitches.... GT6 IS fun... and has a lot of content :)

LOL. We waited over a year to get any DLC in GT5. And you're saying that getting it in the first few months is worse?

There is no fraud. You've been getting promised features. and you can't deny it.

All we care is that they are getting it to us. There's a lot of impatience going on.

Still...

No I haven't and yes I can..

The thing is tho.... besides some glitches.... GT6 IS fun. :)

Careful now. Besides some glitches, GT6 is fun to you.

I don't find GT6 to be a quality experience, and I don't find the quantity of experience offered to help the situation in any way. There's a reasonable amount of evidence all around us that I'm not the only one that thinks so.
