M5Power, you are in fact wrong with your correction of my sentence. This from dictionary.msn.com:

1. mathematics study of relationships using numbers: the study of the relationships among numbers, shapes, and quantities. It uses signs, symbols, and proofs and includes arithmetic, algebra, calculus, geometry, and trigonometry. ( takes a singular verb )

So, the sentence "Maths is very useful" is correct.

Anyway, that's not what really annoys me. What really annoys me is people who don't know the difference between "your" and "you're".
