Ahh man I feel like such a short hitter after I hear you guys bomb your drives around 250 metres. Hopefully once I get used to my i20 I can increase my distance. But I hit it yesterday and it is such a smooth club. I love how I can swing my driver so much more easily and still get the same distance, compared to my r5 where I have to swing it quite hard in order to get it past 200 metres. Yesterday I played 9 holes golf and I was fairly happy on a short par 4 about 285 metres where I went driver lob wedge, haven't done that in quite a long time.

I'm loving my new driver so far :D

250 meters? Child's play! Kidding, I'm about a consistent 275 meter hitter(300 yards). Those are the Tours talking though. I've also made a few adjustments that's gotten me a few more yards and better accuracy. Also did I mention the 17 year old U.S Open leader, Beau Hossler, goes to the school I coach at? Thought that was pretty cool when I found out.

Haha that's awesome. Sorta like how at my golf club I play it, I've met Aron Price and had a half hour lesson with him and a few other people, that was pretty awesome.

I work at the pro shop in my local country club too, so I have a lot of time to practice. I average 200 range balls a day right now. That's why my handicap has dropped from a 17.6 to a 13.5 in 3 months.

Wow, that's a lot of balls to hit per week! In the meantime I train for about 1 hour 30 minutes on a Tuesday and Wednesday followed by practicing on a Saturday afternoon for about 3 hours.

Hopefully doing all this practice can get me off singles by the end of summer.

Lucky for you guys! Unfortunately I just dropped my membership to my CC in my housing development a few weeks ago. It was WAY expensive($30,000 a year. Yes 30) and the course upkeep was less than 30 grand worth. So I haven't been practicing like I should. Fortunately I've installed a home built mini range in my backyard and So Cal has some of the best courses in the world.

$30,000! Were you a member at augusta or something, I know membership at pebble beach was $16,000 $6000 of which was to get on the waiting list, then it was $10,000 a year, we got some courses like that down here, the course I play at is now 100 years old and until 4 years ago was one of the top 100 courses in world, top 10 in australia, our membership is $1170 a year, and we get more prizes then any other course too, but management keeps stuffing around our greenkeepers so they keep quitting, we haven't had a good green keeper for the last 3 years so the course isn't doing as good as it used too,

It's one of the most prestigious courses in So Cal in one of the most prestigious private cities in California. So yeah, things are going to be pricy. As for Pebble Beach, it's invite only so those are usually less expensive to the clubs that anyone can join. Pebble Beach is EXTREMELY nice to play BTW. I'm not sure if it was worth the $500 purse for the round but it was definitely the best course I've played. Now if I could find a sponsor to play Cypress Point, with is much nicer then PB and on par with Augusta, that would be the pinnacle of my golfing hobby. What about you guys? What are the nicest/most prestigious courses you've played?

I was fortunate enough to get 18 holes in at The Lakes golf course which hosts the Aussie Open. Worth the money, shame about the weather though

Yeah I played royal melbourne last year too, for some reason it didn't show up in my previous post, it was way over rated, $300 a round for something that was not that flash,

the sands a torquay is a mad layout, from the championship tees there is a hole where you got hit 250m on the fly to clear the water, the issue with that course is location, way to much wind,

I was at the BMW Championship this week, at Crooked Stick in Indianapolis, IN. Saw Tiger, Fowler, Dufner, Bubba, Phil, Rory, Vijay, Ryan Moore, Ernie, etc - the top 70 Players in the world.

To give it a GT5 twist, cars were displayed EVERYWHERE, including this one.

Whoa that BMW is awesome, I wish they would display cars like that for the hole in one prize

In the meantime I shot 9 over with my new driver and probably hit my longest drive ever, which went at least 300 yards or so.

I have a 2-man 9-hole father-son scramble this afternoon at my local CC. My dad and I are the defending champions which was a major fluke  We brother-in-lawed like no other. Last year, my dad was a 15 handicap, and I was an 18 or 19. This year, I am a 13.5, and he is a 17. We shot a 35 last year which beat two teams that both players were below a 10 handicap :p.

Played my first round ever yesterday. Shot a 112, but with mulligans, etc. I'd say it was closer to a 125.

Well I finished 2nd in the father-son tourney. We shot another 35. We were 1 shot back with 2 holes to go, and we had to use a certain number of each other's drives and I had used all of mine already. My dad pops it up and it goes to the ladies tee box on a 520 yard par 5. I put it down the middle anyway just for kicks. I hit a 3-wood from some of the thickest ruff on the golf course about 230 yards which puts us about 170 out in the middle of the fairway. The group who was playing with us who happened to be leading was 230 yards out after the tee shot. Both of the other players hit bad second shots which put them well right of the green. My dad hits the green about 20 feet from the pin, and I hit it over with a 6-iron. The other team chips it to about 8 feet. I sink the 20 footer for birdie, and the other team misses their put for birdie, so we are tied with 1 hole to go. Remember that I have no tee shots left, so we are stuck playing my dad's shot. He hits it fat which puts us about 20 yards short of the green on 160 yard par 3. The other team's first ball goes into a parking lot, but his partner sticks it to 6 feet. I chip it up to 5 feet, so we still have an outside chance. Both of the other team's players miss the short birdie, so all my dad and I have to do is make an uphill 5-footer with a slight left-right break. I proceed to hit the ball through the break and lip out. My dad then plays too much break and misses too, so we bogey the last hole to lose by 1 :(.

Ouch ... tough :ouch:
Nothing wrong with a second place finish just one stroke off. Be proud of that one, it could have been worse 👍

Thanks man 👍 The next day, I had to go back out there and practice. I walked 18 on Monday and shot 84 with 1 birdie and I only had 5 greens in regulation, so I wasn't too mad about that either. I have been second guessing my reads on puts which has cost me a few strokes a round here recently. I have the huge tendency to find break in puts that have none. :dopey:
