That's culture dependant though. I've never tipped anyone, ever. Doesn't happen here. I realise that's a US thing, does it happen in Europe too?
Generally here jobs where tips are 'expected' i.e. waiting staff, food delivery, bartenders etc. have much lower hourly wages to account for the tips that are made, so it's kind of seen as an insult not to tip in that situation.
I assume something like that is built into the wages/prices in Australia. My mom was telling me pizzas cost something like 30+ dollars in Melbourne when she was there earlier this year.
Having put myself through 6 years of school already off of ****** wages + tips I can tell you it's pretty insulting to give somebody excellent service only to get skimped on a tip.
About the only places I don't tip is somewhere like McDonald's. Even if I'm getting takeout somewhere and picking it up myself, I'll leave a small tip (I don't mind leaving a dollar or two for good, cheap food, even if they don't deliver/serve it to me).
