You're probably right but who knows. Maybe the PS4 is a very slim and compact machine and if they revealed it, Microsoft maybe would've designed their console to be smaller to try and 1-up Sony.

It's really not that simple though, you can't just look at the competition and make yours even smaller at the click of your finger, you need to build to what you're capable of in regards to space/cooling etc. In that sense both companies will have been aiming for the smallest console they can straight away.

What are you guys fondling your console for. The only part thay gets touched on mine is the power and eject buttons, and those rarely since all can be done from the controller. (Ps3.. duh)

:)

A lot of people, me included, move the consoles around the house a lot. I don't have space for my wheel upstairs so if I want to play a PS3 game with it the PS3 needs to come downstairs.

You pervert, how dare... Oh, wait.

I imagine Sony know that they can't just reveal everything at once because that's boring and it leaves you with nothing to speculate over after the initial announcement (bolded for you-know-who), they're not stupid, which is why we still don't know what it looks like.

As for it being glossy, I hope not. Nothing wrong with, er, not glossy. The Piano Black PS3 was nice for about a week before it became a pain in the arse, and a month later it was all scuffed and looked bad. My Slim, however; apart from the glossy panel where the buttons are it looks like it's fresh out of the box.

Then don't touch it. Stop touching it !

:p

This! Haha

Once it's under the TV I have no reason to touch it.

Can see why people are not a fan but imo the slim looks cheap and the new model is even worse.

I would love to have an original 60Gb model again. They looked sooo good plus I could do the the extra USB slots!

All those not wanting glossy, its all about how much effort you put in. My 60GB is in perfect condition, 7 years and not one scratch or any dust on it! I'm not too bothered about colours as they usually all look worse than just Black.

Don't care less what it looks like as long as it plays games!:)

I'm the opposite, I care more what it looks like that how it plays games. If the box looks terrible I won't buy it, similarly if it looks awesome I will buy it just because of that. It really should look its price.

The original PS3 looks great, like some piano black chunky 80's VCR, I actually look at it more than I play it...

.... I'll see my self out

Really? Seems extremely annoying having to unplug the PS3 repeatidly just to use your wheel.

Yeah because it's still brand new in a sealed box waiting to be sold on eBay!

My Glorious Master Race CECHA doesn't have much of a problem with dust accumulation...

In fact, it's the only thing in my room that doesn't seem to attract much dust. My 360 isn't nearly so lucky.

To be fair, I have an 80 gb fatty from 2008 that I use quite frequently, and its still in perfect condition, no scratches or anything. So it is possible ;)

It's not that difficult to keep it clean and finger print free.

Micro fibre cloth job done :D

If this were a court of law, I'd bet the inside would resoundingly object.

Either that or he lives in a bubble in which no dust accumulates.

no and no  just cover it when its not on.

Took this picture of my 60GB today...

I hope the PS4 is also glossy because matt just never has the same premium feel on plastic.

I know it's just doing it's job but I have to say I find the new UI in general to be very dull and uninspiring. I hope it's not final.

Even though we don't have the select button any more. Obviously fan made, and old.

EDIT: The new screens look... okay. I'm undecided.
