I find the UI a huge improvement over the current mess in the PSN store. I'm hoping it works simple as well and isn't terribly complicated.

You mean the interface?
Well no really,if something is simple but effective that's fine by me,some sort of balance may appeal to most.
As long as all features are laid out efficiently I'm happy.

I'll give you that one under protest. (seeing as none of us has ever seen the new PS store screens.)

I think they'll just add the option for adding your real name.

That was already confirmed to be an optional choice. IIRC you could not use your name at all, limit it to certain friends, all friends, or everybody.

Sony has their own smartphones, so it could be possible. They like to give their own products exclusive features, was the same with their TVs.

They said they will be supporting Android and iOS devices.

So a social network for gamers.

Actually, the current PSN is already a social network for gamers. Not brilliant, but it is.

Yeah but not on that scale,PSN or isn't it called SEN now or whatever still needs alot of work seems to be getting some love though:sly:

Mark Cerny discusses some aspects of the PS4 architecture.

Gamasutra
What Does 'Supercharged' Mean, Anyway?

The PlayStation 4's architecture looks very familiar, at first blush -- and it is. But Cerny maintains that his team's work on it extends it far beyond its basic capabilities.

For example, this is his take on its GPU: "It's an ATI Radeon. Getting into specific numbers probably doesn't help clarify the situation much, except we took their most current technology, and performed a large number of modifications to it."

To understand the PS4, you have to take what you know about Cerny's vision for it (easy to use, but powerful in the long term) and marry that to what the company has chosen for its architecture (familiar, but cleverly modified.) That's what he means by "supercharged."

"The 'supercharged' part, a lot of that comes from the use of the single unified pool of high-speed memory," said Cerny. The PS4 packs 8GB of GDDR5 RAM that's easily and fully addressable by both the CPU and GPU.

I hope it's only rumor but looks like for the first time in history sony console PS4, is not going to have two of it's flagships titles, which are Wipeout and Ridge Racer :scared:

Don't think anybody cares about Ridge Racer anymore to be honest

I do. I love RR it's been the first game I bought for every playstation. I hate the new one, last ones I enjoyed were the PSP versions and RR7. I would be so gutted if we don't get another.

We may still see a PlayStation 4 Ridge Racer title. The NDA on PS4 is expected to expire at E3 so we will start seeing third-party titles unveiled. Namco Bandai may hold all information until then.

I don't expect a WipeOut though this year. We may see it in 2014 assuming the IP has been transferred to another studio. Hopefully...

WipEout got taken in by Evolution didn't they?

That was the rumour going round a while back. Apparently it isn't the case according to someone at Evolution Studios. It makes sense given the experience of ES with racing titles and perhaps the denial was to keep this changing of developer a secret. WipeOut after DriveClub is very possible and something many would be delighted with.

I hope the onboard speaker can be disabled as i usually play with headphones on

last one I loved was the PSP version as well (dat soundtrack as well  )

But I wouldn't say alot care about Ridge racer anymore, heard they were doing a free to play title I think.

Namco Japan authorized some American company to do last Ridge Racer, and it was awful.

Only in Japan they know how to keep Ridge Racer spirit. That's why i fear so much for my bellowed arcade racer.

And as for wipeout, well ...... After wipeout 3, another developer take game into their hands and game also changed drastically. If now sony again authorize some other developer to do it then we might receive something like last Ridge Racer ...... the horror ! :scared:

Any way the core fear is than neither Namco and SCE Studio Liverpool won't make their flag titles by them self. We all know that if some other company dips they fingers in something they should not, the final effect is 3x 👎

Namco's best racer, ace driver victory lap never made it to console, which is a shame. Last really good ridge racer game was 4 (great music as well).

Also, sega has the best arcade racers and ea the worst so called arcade racers (burn out, nfs).

Fear? Ehm if you haven't noticed yet, but SCE Studio Liverpool is no more. :nervous:

Some information about the share button:
(Shuhei Yoshida)... said that the Share button will have its limitations, however, and that users will not quite have free reign to upload whatever in-game footage they like.

“There will be parts of a game that the maker does not want people to be able to see,” he said. “For example, on Vita, developers can in certain scenes disable the feature that lets users take a screenshot, and (the Share function) will have a similar mechanism. The creator may not want to make video of the final boss sharable, for instance.”

^ Youtube RIP.

That's all that is on youtube game wise. The final boss, special moment etc. and lets play videos with a few lets complete the game videos.

Sony: "Unlike PS3, we are not planning a major loss to be incurred with the launch of PS4"

Sony
At the time we developed PS3, we made a lot of in-house investments to develop the chip, the Cell chip. Development of the chip saw the silicon processing and all the facilities invested by us ourselves. But this time, yes we have a team working on chip development, but we already have existing technology to incorporate and also product investment and all the facilities will now be invested by our partners, other foundries, so we don't have to make all the investment in-house

Sony’s PlayStation 4 Marketing Slogan Is "Greatness Awaits"

Siliconera
Sony is going to give PlayStation 4 a big marketing push and the keywords behind it are "Greatness Awaits." Siliconera obtained a leak from a company working on the campaign. The commercial starts off by showing an empty road in a small town. A lone guy walks down the road towards the camera and says, "Who are you not to be great? You, with the imagination of a brilliant child and the powers of an ancient god."

We'll see if Sony will verify this leaked slogan in a few days.
