I'm fairly sure they didn't say you had to pay to play online...

Correct me if I'm wrong though...

The way it was worded strongly implies that you do. Doesn't really matter to me anyway. Plus offers good benefits.

I like how they didn't even mess around with backhand digs and subtle swipes, they just went out and directly said PS4 won't have the same things XBONE has.

Pay to play online is a negative but XBONE has it as well so it's only a leveler.

Maybe we'll see some limited online gaming functions which will be free.

They didn't explicitily say it's not possible without PSN plus.

The game looks great so far.

I'd beg to differ, I think he merely meant that the online experience with Playstation Plus would be 'more immersive' than without Playstation Plus, not that Playstation Plus was the only way to play online.

EDIT: I guess we'll just have to wait and see for clarification, but I don't think you will have to pay to play online.

Take the fact that PS4 supports used games (for free) along with no DRM, and the scale tips immediately towards PS4.

Anyone else think that the other character in Destiny looks like Tali from Mass Effect?

Did you miss the part where he said that people without a plus membership will be able to enjoy single player games? What on earth would that mean other than "you need plus to play online"?

$60 a year? That's a 20% increase in PS Plus price. Other than that (and the no PS3 BC, it seems very strong).

So buy a psplus membership before ps4 comes out. It will carry over to ps4.

We have to pay for online?
That's what I'm wondering.
Eks
No longer free? ahn..
I didn't hear anything of the kind.

They said PS+ memberships would carry over from PS3 and PS+ would get exclusive free things every month. But I never heard them say you need PS+ to play online.

Watch Dogs looks novel, but I've not seen anything else to excite me into Next-Gen console ownership yet. "We're not going to be as evil as MS" isn't a plus point - it's what should be the default!

Welcome to the world of Xbox Live.

Yeah  it's a game less for me a year which is manageable but still dissapointed

@famine they stated non Plus users will be enjoying singleplayer without the need to connect

Check the fine print and your questions will be answered.

It's also worth noting that on Xbox you'll be able to trade a digital download whereas you won't on PS4. Not that I think Xbox's setup is any better.

So if I were to buy the next one and the renewal in September (spending $100) in the process, I'd save $20 as the code would still work the next year? (Side note: What happens if you enter two 1 year PS Plus codes, does it just tack on?)

He said something along the lines of "don't worry, if you're not a PS+ member you still get to enjoy great single player games."
