If that is correct, then why is anyone purchasing the XBOX ONE?

So, it's a less powerful system, bigger (not that it really matters), comes from a brand known for unreliable hardware AND tried to screw us with their DRM policies, more expensive and requires a constantly connected Kinect System, which some people feel uneasy about.

The only reasons I can think of are either 'fanboyism' or their exclusives.

Not trying to bash the XBOX, but how it is selling is beyond me.
So far it looks as if it's selling worse than the PS4.

Additionally to exclusives and fanboyism, which is caused by the other two points, is probably also the circumstance that it's an american brand and americans somehow prefer to buy american stuff. Of course, people from other countries buy it as well, but the US has always been the biggest market for the Xbox.
PR work plays a big role too.

EDIT: Oh and certain people seem to like Xbox live.

Microsoft has a MASSIVE advertising budget compared to SONY.

People don't buy McDonalds or Budweiser beer because they taste good. Check out the movie "Beer Wars".

I beg to differ, though you're right, beer is disgusting:sly:.

Burger King, Wendy's, White Castle, and especially Hardee's are much better than McDonalds. For some reason I get "the runs" from any McDonalds every time I have their beef. Big Macs are my weakness.

^ Don't forget about Super size me. Sorry for off topic post.

If I can step in here; Super Size Me could have been done about Burger King or KFC. The fact was he was consuming 5000 calories a day without exercising, what did you think was going to happen?

I have to admit, I usually go to McDonalds, but mainly for their milkshakes; BK don't do them (and their burgers are too expensive for what you get) and KFCs KrushEm's are too difficult to drink.

Forza, that is why I will be buying an Xbox One. I have had the first PS and Xbox and bought a PS3 for GT5 then a 360 for Forza so I am not partial to a particular company or platform. Actually, over the years I had Nintendo, Sega, Atari, etc.. I much prefer Forza so it's an easy choice on the next generation for me. PS4 will be a fine console, but not my choice.
As for the performance advantage/disadvantage of the next generation consoles I think both will perform well. The PS3 technically has more power than an Xbox 360 but you can't tell by the software, I think performance will be negligible between the two next generation consoles.

And yes, one title can be worth the investment for me. Hell, my new PC graphics cards will cost more than a next gen console.

I think people forget that the PS3 was the more powerful console between it and the 360, yet a lot of games looked better on the 360. The 360 was more popular for most of its life, easier to code for and the lowest common denominator when it came to hardware (which is also why a lot of PC games look pretty poor, the one that comes to mind is Deus Ex: Human Revolution - the DVD quality pre-rendered cutscenes that looked worse than in-engine real time acting in particular) so it ended up being the development platform of choice for most multiplatform games for whatever reason. Most PS3 exclusives looked spectacular compared to multiplatform games.

So basically no matter how big or small the performance gap is, the software is still all that really matters.

I am bit disappointed with the recent changes to Xbox One. Since E3 Microsoft has been pretty much changing their policies to match them with the PS4 because Sony is doing everything right this time, today they confirmed their indie program for XB1.
What's next? Microsoft to allow Xbox One to play PS4 games??? :ouch:

You are disappointed??? Are you mad?! Microsoft is doing what is correct, changing their errors. I'm happy, because day after day, Microsoft is making Xbox One a better product.👍

Everyone will have their opinion, some want the Xbox One announced at E3 while others want the Xbox One that is constantly changing everyday. I can't give my opinion because I never intended to buy a Xbox in the first place, I have been a Sony costumer since the beginning and that will continue because I feel that the money that I spent with the service is worth it.
In general the main difference between the Xbox One and the PS4 now is the slighty different hardware , the price of both consoles, the games, the advantages of their online payment services.

If you don't want give your opinionk why do you criticise Xbox One new policies saying that you are disappointed? I don't want 'argue' with you because your Nickname says everything.LOL. I only hope that Sony and Microsoft make their new consoles good to gamers, because I plan buying both consoles.

I thought this was a PS4 discussion thread. Not about some people wanting an Xbox! I also wouldn't take an Xbox if it was given to me! I also know some people still prefer the Xbox over the PS4 and i say good for them! But i prefer the PS4, end of story!

He is disappointed because he is a Playstation fanboy that thinks XB1 failing would be a good thing for consumers and Playstation when it's quite the opposite.

The thing is, the people that will ultimately bankroll these consoles have no idea what is going on right now. On release, or just after, or two years after, they will buy one... never knowing the preliminary toing and froing. All the X1 hysteria may mean very little to the bottom line if MS play out the "me too" game to a point where Average Joe and Jane are not affronted by any of it's particulars.

If that is what you understood from what I said, it's not what I intended. Microsoft can change whatever they want to attract the hardcore community but it just doesn't seem right to change everything to match the competitor, otherwise what's the point if you have two consoles that are basically the same?
They said that they changed a lot of things because of the costumer feedback but it wasn't just because of that, at E3 they clearly understood that many people were disappointed with what they announced and economically their console would fail if they never changed some aspects.

Anyway i'm sorry if I changed the direction of where this topic was going, I'm gonna stop mentioning this stuff.

Competition makes everything better in the long run. In this case. Microsoft back peddled on a-lot of policies. Stop trying to make this stuff a negative when it's obviously a positive.

Like PS3 and 360 you mean? Nothing wrong with similar consoles and policies, then it's all about the games as it should be.

That is not an absolute though. When price is one of the competitive parameters, the result can be that the product is actually compromised. Even if the world had only one console manufacturer, they would not be bereft of competition anyway. I think it was Ken Kutaragi who once stated that he did not view the "opposition" gaming company as competition so much as everything that competes for attention. He then referenced his son's new girlfriend as an example.

Xbox one was a failure day one but have editing and removed policies that caused the failure, the techs are both similar yet different in many ways. PS4 many be the alpha console but microsoft are doing everything to get on a level playing field

After introducing Microsoft politics towards customers ill stay away from Xbox One. I've pre ordered PS4 hopefully it will arrive somewhere during xmas 👍

It wasn't even released yet! How the flock of sheep could it have already been a failu-You know what? Because Sony fanboyism.

 You said everything now.
It's about time people STOP complain about Xbox One.
This situation reminds me about Nitendo 3DS, two years ago, 3DS was a failure...Now 3DS is better than ever, and may be the most sold console of this new generation.
I'm not a fanboy of anything, I just want Xbox One has the same sucess as much as PS4 and Wii U.
And after E3 Microsoft are doing a 'nice' job trying fix their policies.

3DS was a completely different case, most people liked it actually. It's not even a completely new platform, just an evolution of an existing one. 3DS is cheaper now and it has more 3D games available than at the beginning (which was a big problem, and the circumstance that many people already had a DS).
I want that the one with the best package gets the most sucess, which is, in all objectivity, more reasonable than what you want. At the moment this is Sony with the PS4 in my eyes and not MS. Nintendo fills another segment of the market, so it's not a fantastic comparison anyway.
I complain about things I think are wrong and it doesn't interest me that much if people like you believe everything is hunky-dory when it's not in my eyes.
