Keeps the anticipation going, might not be 100% finished, they just didn't feel like it etc. Could be any number of reasons. I'm sure it'll be revealed at E3.
 
IDK if I'm going to like that extra grip underneath the controller, I kinda like the smoothness of normal DS controllers.

Oh by the way, all the 4k gaming talk has been put to bed, Sony have confirmed what most sane people expected, 4k multimedia yes, 4k gaming no.

4K gaming should be possible on the PS4 for basic games and some really scalable optimized games. I think the developers will leave it for now until 4K TVs become more affordable and then they will probably get some games running at that resolution. The PS4 doesn't have the power to really play it with the richness in quality that most developers would like but I think we might see potentially some add on 4K support in games like replays in future to put 4K TV screens to maximum use. I hope though that Sony thought of some interface thing to use that can link two PS4s together to make 4K possible at a very high level of quality.

I wonder if HDMI 2.0 will make it some way into PS4 as last minute change if specification is finalised in time but most likely be too late. I think potentially the PS4s will be very short supply at launch but depends on which foundry will be making it.

One thing I am looking forward to PS4 is load times should be very rapid for most games. Finally frustration free gaming to a good extent. USB 3 should make backing up data on whole system much faster too.

I can't imagine them not putting it in. Doesn't PSN plus have party chat?

If the PS4 has no party chat or cross game chat I will consider it a complete failure even if you don't need a tv and it projects holograms into the middle of your room, while it cooks steak for you.
I can't see them leaving something that basic out this time. It's literally the reason about 10 of my friends switched to the Xbox.

I just use Skype now. Much better because I have friends with both PS3 and 360.

I said nothing about going on it on the PS3, I go on Skype on the COMPUTER/LAPTOP whilst I am on the PS3.

I agree it should be a feature but it's easily solved.

Well, your English isn't clear, which is why I asked.

And not everyone has a PC they can have running right next to them. This is a console, they mostly belong in the living room.

Watch Dogs Certainly looks impressive but as something we'd already seen it was hard to get excited. Gameplay looked good, if a little disjointed in who the guy was and what his aims were/which 'side' he was on.

There's not a side or an aim. Ubisoft said in the commentary video on youtube, that there's no objectives, no missions. You can simply do whatever you want. Which to me is an awesome concept. Almost like a GTA game without a real story. It sounds like you do stuff like what was shown in the demo to further the story. And...a demo can't really be disjointed, I don't think. How can it be disjointed if you don't know the full story?

As for the physical system being there...Sony later said in a quick interview that they still wanted stuff to show off down the road. In other words, they could have, but that wasn't really the point of the conference.

I thought it was a bit strange how he's hacking some guy's bank account one second and then just decides to have an encounter with a psycho who was holding a knife to his presumed ex-wife/girlfriend's throat. Disjointed is probably the word I'd use to describe this odd turn of events.

I've been thinking about it and, although I completely ditched my PS3 when I bought my PC, I am excited about the PS4. What was announced (yes, announced) yesterday demonstrated that Sony aren't content to just give the PS4 more graphics and the systems they have in place should make the PS4 a seriously capable piece of kit in terms of ancillary systems as well as gaming performance, I'd even consider buying a Vita (when it loses some weight, anyway) if it meant I could play full actual GT6 on the train in the morning. But as I keep saying, it all depends on the games.

The biggest positive about the analog sticks in the new DS4 isn't that the retained the same position as the DS3 but rather that they finally added nubs to them so your thumb doesn't slide right off.
Another huge plus in my book is the concave triggers and the bulkier hand grips. My 3 biggest DS complaints are now resolved and the DS4 looks pretty sweet as is.

Can't wait.

I hate it myself, it feels horrible when the controller gets old and smooth. When they start out they have a sort of gritty feel which is nice, but give it a few months and your hand grease will give it that horrible sort of damp feeling. Urgh. I need to buy a new DS3.

I'm hoping PS3s will become dirt cheap soon after the PS4 is released, I mean sub- £100 cheap. I might even see if I can pick up some used ones. I'd like to have one in my room and three for my sim rig, but I still want to have one plugged in to the big TV (even though it has a horrible response time).

Edit: Woah, I need to go to bed. I thought I was replying to a new post with this, turns out I was replying to a post from a tab I've had open for a while.

It would seem odd for Microsoft to step too far away with the design they have. It's by far one of the most pleasing designs in my hand (far better than the Dual Shock in any revision), I'd see little reason to change anything other than the D-Pad. Considering that it is otherwise a USB-connectable controller, I don't see why they wouldn't work unless they change the thing entirely. That, or they have a Kinect-like sensor built into them.

Who knows.
 
Seeing as how the new Xbox has compulsory Kinect I'd be surprised if their controller is a two handed piece, I reckon it'll be a pair of wireless grips, one for each hand, so you don't have to have your hands together.
 
The PS4 apparently delivers nearly 2 TFLOPS of GPU power... just a bit less than a Radeon HD6770.

How can the ps3 controller not be used? That means no blue tooth at all. Even than it can be used with usb. Possibly new games will need the new controllers special buttons or something but old games must be able to use them. Even my phone supports the controller I'm sure the ps4 will too to a degree.

It doesn't mean no Bluetooth. It simply means that it won't be supported by the system. Just because you can physically plug it into the console doesn't mean it's going to work.

Agreed.

I think it may have to do with the PC X86 architecture, but even for PCs there are emulators that can make PS3 controllers compatibile. We need an explanation.

New games requiring new controller features is not an excuse either because PS3 games have sixaxis features which the Ds2 doesn't have, yet we could still use it. Don't tell me the touchpad feature will be anything more different than the sixaxis feature. If the touchpad feature is mandatory, then it's simple, we can't use the Ds3. It should at least work with games that don't require any new controller features like the touchpad, whether it'd be a PS4 or PS3 game.

Wow. Money grab to make you buy two new controllers much?

What if I like the feel of my old DS3 more than the new one? The new one looks interesting, but I kind of like the feel of the DS3 so I wouldn't be surprised if I still want to use it.
 
It's probably more a standard thing. If only PS4 controllers work with PS4, then the devs don't have to anticipate players using older controllers with PS4 games. With the new camera, share button, touch pad features, not to mention the other tech enhancements to reduce latency, and probably how the device talks to the PS4 in the new controllers, it's probably just safer and sensible, especially as PS4 has no backwards compatibility, there's less of a need to support the older controllers.
