I am quite happy to stick to one system this gen unless MS pull a huge change.

I don't think Sony are out of the DRM woods just yet.

Example, Titanfall by EA looks fantastic IMHO. It's seems ATM that's its XB exclusive (hopefully just a timed one).

Sony have mentioned that DRM will be up to publishers. EA knowing that they get money on every TF purchase/resale on XB adds a lot of appeal to that platform (like iTunes).

Sony have delivered what the general consumer wanted/has a right too. It's up to the consumers to return the faith and purchase a PS4 to show the corporations our thoughts on DRM.

I'm not sure if that is possible. I'm no market strategist, but even a 70/30 split in favour of PS4 may not be enough, with guaranteed publisher gains on XB. 100% of the 30 split is still a nice attraction.

Bottom line is maybe Sony will have to go the DRM route eventually to court the big publishers.
I wouldn't hold that against them though.

The consumer holds the key here and we need to show solidarity IMHO.

Oh, that makes way more sense now - thanks! I honestly couldn't spot it on the pictures I've seen before, but never mind that, then.

- I still find it ugly, though.
I think it looks great actually, and even more so the more I look at it. I don't think it looks cheap either, as some people do. What I'm most impressed about when it comes to the design though, is the size. It looks much smaller than I expected. 👍

The most diabolical company offering a third party publisher (also the worst company in America) $50,000,000 incentive to have one of their third party games exclusive to their console, is ever so typical of how MSFT has done things from their inception. They know they can't get away with this crap against Apple.

So, we as consumers must buy PS4 console and games to make this happen :

Not a bad idea :D

Shuhei Yoshida confirmed (on twitter) that the ps4 is region free and you can upgrade the hdd.

Shut up and take my money.

I just went to Wal-Mart.com to check on the PS4. They already have it for preorder, but where I'm at (Arkansas) they are adding $37.00 tax, but free shipping. Yay. :-/ So, in all, its like $436.96 for me. Which isn't bad.

remember that time the PSN was down for over a month? i do. just saying, i've stuck by Sony but they haven't always been the knight in shining armor that they're being portrayed as lately, although i must say the future looks GOOD.

Anyone else notice how they said PS+ Plus members will get Driveclub for free ?, also notice how it is referred to as "Driveclub PS+ Edition", I'll bet good money that it is a watered down version of the full game. Otherwise they would have just said Driveclub.

Yeah, this year's E3 has so far been much more interesting than the last. Shame about the One - I would've liked to play Forza 5, probably - but that price (for the PS4 I mean) is just awesome. Then again, as always, the conversion rate is mad: $399 = €302 = £257, not $399 = €399 = £359... Obviously there are many factors to take into account such as taxes and distribution, but that's quite a jump.

I already pay for PS+ and even though I don't use my PS3 all that often, it is a pretty great service. Free games, cloud saves, automatic downloading, discounts, exclusive stuff... Ok, so I would prefer to not have to pay for online play but if the price stays the same I see no problem with it. I would urge everyone with a PS3 to get PS+ anyway.

Also I'm betting Drive Club PS+ Edition will be like Forza 4 Essentials was.

As for when I'm buying a PS4; I can wait until MGS V is released, but it'll be a tough decision between a PS4, another graphics card OR a better processor and cooler for my PC. Hmmm...

The conversion rate for the PS3 price was from Yen. Maybe it's the same this time?

I'm quite surprised by how cheap it is here (NZ$650). New Zealand prices are marked up a lot, even after the conversion rate. In fact, the 500GB SuperSlim is still over $500!

Might sound like a broken record but it is an inconvenience that I have to be PS plus member to play online ,other than that Conference was excellent ,soo much games to look forward to aswell.

Let's look at it this way, even though Xbox Live was a paid service with no free games, discounts etc. , many still payed for it, why ?, Xbox Live was a good service, let's not beat around the bush here it's better than PSN overall. The money obviously went to towards updates to make the service even better.

I wouldn't mind if the same thing happened to PSN, except we are also getting the perks from PS+ with the deal. The problem is that PS3 owners are used to having free online play, but sometimes you have to give to get something back, in this case, a better service in the long term (hopefully) .

I love the crowd. "Sony! Sony! Sony! Sony!"

Totally aimed that missile at MS.

Anyways, I'm totally fine with paying for PSN. It'd be just like XBL Gold, except free games every month and all the other benefits of PS+.

Am I the only one who found the PS4 exclusive titles a bit underwhelming?

And it is funny how people just accept the need of PS+ for online gaming. One of the big arguement against the Xbox for years...

And the difference of 100 €/$ for a product you use for 7-8 years is laughable. Making a decision only by the price point is not reasonable. Good games are on both consoles. But Sony didnt delivered much new stuff.

What are we meant to do, other than not buy a next gen console which some people will do.

PS4 is cheaper, better and has less issues, like all the DRM stuff. If lots more people buy it over the xbone then the games will come to it for sure.

That depends entirely on if you want the 'new' stuff. The 'new' stuff that MS is delivering many people don't want at all, as such it can be as 'new' as you like it still will not appeal.

Add in the some of the 'new' stuff, such as 24 hour connection checks, DRM, used game market control, are not of any value or advantage to the customer at all.

Price point will always be an issue, particularity if I have to pay for things I don;t want or need, I would rather effectively get another game or two for the difference in price.

Oh and I've accepted paying for Live and PS+ for years, so you will not find continuing to pay being an issue at all.

Admittedly I haven't seen the full PS3 conference yet, only what tidbits I catch around the web. However saying that, I thought the MS conference was very good. They didn't lie about it being all about the games. Not a whiff of Kinnect either. I thought it was one of there best showings at E3.

Then they screwed it up with the politics of it all.
My heart says follow the games, but my head tells me the business model is totally wrong.
Such a shame really.

I dont think that Sony is cheaper at all. What about extra controllers and the cam? Sony peripherals are way more expensive most of the time. The original DS3 still costs around 50 € here, set the Xbox 360 controller with a price of 30 € against it and it gets obvious.

If you count the 12 month membership that comes with the day one edition of the one, then the price doesnt seem that high anymore.
*wrong

They could have sold Kinect on its own, but then we would have the same problem as before. The core game studios wouldnt implement it, because not everyone had a kinect system. Now its different.

This will a problem for the playstation eye. It wont be in every package, so we wont see a wide support for it in core games.

I couldnt care less on DRM. I rather wait for some games to drop in prices or get it in a sale, instead of losing a lot of worth and money on a gamestop trade in. Gamestop and all those used game shops making a fortune by reselling the game you gave them for 10 bucks for 40-50 €. The developers who make those games, especially single player games like Uncharted, wont get a cut.

And because Sony said no to DRM, doesnt mean that publishers wont use online passes or other systems.

PS4 $399 (No eye)
X1 $499

PS3 $599 (no headset no hd cables)
360 $399

I have to admit I am shocked with the price difference. Seems Sony is really trying hard to win the console wars next gen.
Now the question. Does it come with a headset and HD cables? When the PS3 launched it did not have a headset or HD cables and was around $599 so Sony has learned from their previous mistake. Very interesting for sure.

Now to read up on the rest of the PS4 details since it was too late by the time Sony had their E3 conference.

You should care about DRM because it's taking away your options for no good reason at all and I couldn't care less about Kinect or the Eye, I just want to game not prat around in front of the TV.

Firstly, please find an article stating that Xbox One comes with a 12 month Xbox Live subscription out of the box, I heard it is a 14 day trial and a 12 month is some special offer i.e not for everyone which makes your argument misleading here.

Secondly, I don't know about you but unless you want to play split screen there is no need to buy two controllers on day one, I survived for a good half year before even considering a second controller. Also, you are making assumptions based on last generation, not appropriate when Sony just announced a price 2/3 that of the PS3 for the PS4.

Using the used game argument here is pointless, I agree with you but not in this instance, Sony is catering for the consumer here, look at the backlash against Microsoft and see for yourself.

Finally, I couldn't care less about the playstation eye and it being implemented into games, all to Sony for not focusing on it and including something with the PS4 that I don't want and would simply put the launch price up higher.

Actually seems that you will be getting a basic headset and HDMI cables with your console !

Maybe due to shipping costs? ;)

Yeah, hoping for it to drop drastically next year!
