Won't that make Sony loose a profit on the vita or was the Vita already a big flop? Is it that they want to get rid of all vitas with this strategy?

The download history will remain intact, so I could download GTHD again if I wanted to in 2014 and beyond. However, I won't be able to play GTHD on the PS4.

While there may be a vita ps4 bundle it probably isn't going to be $500. I think that is someones wishful thinking. Maybe $550, but that's probably still wishful thinking. More than likely if it does happen your looking at a $50 or $75 cut.

I was curious if the PS1 games I downloaded would work on the PS4. I was hoping they would if they don't oh well

Am I the only one who thinks that looks a lot like the PSN Store redesign?

I thought it was pretty obvious that's the look they were going for across the whole UI.

As of right now from what we know, they won't. PS1, PS2, PS3 (Disc or PSN games) won't work on the PS4 as they are. We know that Gaikai will offer streaming of these games but whether you'll need to buy all your games again we don't know. I should hope not.

I'll second that!

I'm quite intrigued at how that service will pan out. I hope we'll have the opportunity to store the games on the console. I think that streaming games may cause problems for people in low-speed broadband areas. Imagine trying to stream all 10GB of GT5 when your broadband speed is poor.

If they won't transfer them I plan on keeping my PS3 anyway.

But you are not streaming the game files. The game is run by gaikai and a video stream is sent to the console.

Exactly. The gaikai servers are playing the game and through technology and wizardry they're sending you a video stream similar to VideoOnDemand services like BBC iPlayer except it's not just video, it's playable. Your inputs are sent to the Gaikai servers to control what you're seeing.

That's why there are two big downsides to Gaikai. The quality will be lower, similar to 720p/1080p videos on Youtube in terms of bitrate and latency will always be an issue. You're not going to get the same experience as if you had a console in front of you.

That is going to have teething problems for people who have low broadband speeds. Mine is pretty poor compared to major cities so I can see me having a few problems playing them.

Gaikai is going to have to be an extraordinary piece of kit to iron out problems with slow broadband speeds.

I always thought Yorkshire was getting a lot of attention from BT openreach with the fiber upgrade. I live in Selby and we got fiber last year and a very small village near us (Barlow) Had a green fiber cabinet pop up a few months back.

I think it is. Major places here are getting fiber optic broadband.

However, I live in Huddersfield right next to/in the Pennines. I live on the side of a steep hill and when we first moved in back in '98 we couldn't get any TV signal and we couldn't get cable as they wouldn't install it on our road, I can't remember the reasons why but I'd imagine the steepness of the road had something to do with it. So we ended up getting Sky Digital.

We didn't actually get broadband until 2008 which by then was in full swing and nearly everywhere had it. We've switched from TalkTalk to Sky in 2011 and it has been noticeably better than before, but there are times it just drops off for the PS3. Plus I can't connect the PS3 to the router wirelessly, I have to wire it to a small box from Sky that connects to the router. Thats the only way it'll work properly and I'm assuming I'm going to have to do that on the PS4.

I live just down the road from you SVT in Horbury and they have been spotty with FTTC (Fiber To The Cabinet) and FTTH (Fiber To The Home). We do have a lot of cabinets and also Virgin cabinets too but I still can’t get FTTH. Late last year they eventually upgraded my cabinet to FTTC but I still won’t get the best speed it can offer.

I just don’t think BT or other providers give two hoots. Their contractors don’t.

I can't remember for the current gen, when are we expecting the media to have fully functional units and games? A month out? Two months?

Mike do you think Microsoft has ever made money on anything hardware related it has ever made?
I could show you the losses on Zune,Xbox,Xbox 360,Surface etc.
Don't be hating on my PS4 lol.

How hard is it for you to stay on topic? This is the PS4 thread, to discuss PS4. The other thread is the Xbox One thread. They aren't both the place for your 'PS4 is the best' trolling.

If you want to compare the consoles, here is the thread - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=283866

I only post the news. This had nothing to do with hardware but the difference between Yen and USD increasing. They will lose money because the dollar is not worth the same now as it will when the changes occur.

I actually have not chosen my console yet. The plan was to get both but I spent a lot more money then I had planned so I can only get one. That decision will come after Gamescom and after I analyze the info plus what I will need for each console.
