And, as Bloomberg notes, the PlayStation 4 will cost £349 in the UK and €399 in the rest of Europe. That also spells good news for the company, considering £349 is equivalent to $541, and €399 is equivalent to $532. The PS4 will only cost $399 in the US.
Any chance an imported PS4 from USA will work in EU? 399 $ actually are 299 €. 100 Euro difference. Ok USA has taxes and shippin costs but I still think I can save 40 €.

Like the PS3, it's not region locked. I've already preordered a PS4 for my cousin in France. However, if things change, it can be cancelled. Online retailers do not bill your card until the items ship.

A lot of pretty young women are having a hard time finding husbands because a lot young men (well, old boys) are still latched onto mommy's breast with a video game controller in hand.

This was a quote from a woman [college student] who called into a radio show discussing youth, obesity, and laziness.

I dunno, that young woman sounds a bit butt hurt. But there is some truth to it.

As for all the so-called "intrusive" social features, I think we can turn off those features on our consoles. Like I'm doing with my PS3...Ain't nothing new here.

I like the PS3 XMB not sure why they are changing it :( I love the blue color though purple will be also look great to me. I guess there will be option to customize it. All the social features are also not too important for me. But lots of people like it so they had to include all that

Why not may I ask, considering you're on what in essence is an online social hangout for gamers.
Do I share any personal stuff here on GTP? No I don't.

I don't have the slightest interest in sharing anything about my life via the internet. I have no facebook 🤬 or whatever else, I'm just not interested.
But sure, I'll simply have to ignore it.

I don't really see anything that is a mandatory Facebook feature. It just looks to me like it has become it's own platform, with the option to share to Facebook or Twitter your results. I would imagine it'd work in a similar way to many mobile apps - you can see other people's high scores through a username, but you can connect to Facebook to simply have a list of people you know and their high scores, with the option of posting about your high score.

Dead Island: Riptide already prompts you to log in via Facebook before the game loads - I suppose it'll be like that. I don't have an account and have no interest.

I'd still like to see if the social media aspects that both next-gen consoles are pushing will actually get much use or not.

I also think the option to turn it all off will definitely be there, just relying on the PSN friends list - otherwise any devs who like to go gaming on the quiet are going to get flagged up...

Or they could just create Facebook accounts with fake names solely for gaming. I doubt your old school friends are going to search for a Mr Mean Elf, are they?

In all seriousness, social network integration will not be mandatory. It's there for those who want it but can be ignored by those who don't. Personally, I'm going to use it to spam my Facebook friends for a while. Hopefully it will pay them back for all the FarmVille requests.

It was just an example.

This hasn't been posted in the thread yet by the looks of it. Take this with as many grains of salt as you like.

So, a mod-verified gaffer named Nealand Liquor just posted this interesting tidbit... Mod-verified means that this particular gaffer is indeed in the position to receive such knowledge, as has been checked by Bishoptl himself.
This means it's still a rumor, but it does have a verified source. Nothing more.

Our internal product release schedule from head office dropped yesterday and on Oct 21st an unnamed Sony console will be launched. Fyi all console revisions like the ps360 slims and Wii Mini were listed as ps360 & wii mini. Previously the wiiu, 3ds and vita were also only listed as Nintendo/Sony Console in the product name column.

Disclaimer: I just work at a very large retailer, managing the electronics sales force and nothing more. I have nothing to do with purchasing, nation wide merchandising or shipping. I am not trying to play this off as I have connections at Sony, or I am some sort of insider. It's that just yesterday we received a product release schedule from our head office and I thought this is OT itt. These schedules btw, are for internal use only, designed to allow us time to create our instore merch plans. If the launch date for a product is unknown, it's simply marked TBA. The only time a date is ever included is when we have received confirmation of said date from the product company.

So that's why they can't find me...:)

Point taken, though I was refering more to already existing PSN accounts linked to FB. True, they could always go the new PSN and FB account route.

TV DEAL!? O_o Don't care for it...
Why not?
I know cable/satellite TV etc but the possibility of TV shows and possibly movies being streamed for free sounds interesting.
Maybe It'll be like that PPV sportd app that came out on PSN this week?

Well since its free, that's awesome. But I still don't care for TV though...

Because it has no place on a GAMING console. That's why.

Microsoft used to have a deal with Viacom from 2007-2012. Funny how Sony now has a deal with them now.

Is Viacom a big deal in America? Had a look at the channels they run and it looks like mostly dated 3rd rate stuff we've had bundled here in the UK via Sky subscription since the 90s.

They also own gametrailers.com

Viacom owns Paramount, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. In theory that could also mean some sort of access to the things CBS owns.

Also MTV I guess.

Right. And a computer is for computing, not gaming or watching movies.

Get over yourself.

You get over yourself! :sly:

My point is that there is no reason for consoles to do the same thing that we can already do with your TV's alone.

XMB is old, it was in PS3 in PSP and in PSvita also is somewhere there. So it needs to be updated.

New menu design is much better now. I like it.

TV's alone?
I know alot of new TV's are available with freeview but satellite/cable TV requires a set-top box and a direct debit minimum 18 month contract.
I don't want that, like the PPV app released this week it's non commitment.
That sounds very attractive if Sony can expand their TV services on PS3 and PS4.
Like imari said:'get over yourself'.
PS4 is classed a console but is very much the same as a gaming PC,so why not utilise its potential like a laptop or PC?
Gaming is a primary feature right?

There's no reason for consoles to not do the same thing; and not everyone has a fancy Smart TV to begin with.

I'm not talking about smart TV's. Whether you are using an antenna cable or a box from your TV provider, you already have access to TV channels. There is no point in adding this capability to consoles. It's redundant.

Now of course, Microsoft and Sony would then make some exclusives deals for exclusive TV content, which would then be availible in the US, and a few other places. Guess what, these things almost NEVER make it to Denmark. Thus I don't want to see them waste time on it. Everything doesn't need to do everything. It's pointless. Or at least to me it's pointless.

Aparently, having that opinion means I have to get over myself (of all the idiotic arguements I've ever heard, that one takes the cake for being dumbest.). I'm aware that you (Tornado) did not say that, but I just had to get that out there.

If you don't have cable/satellite you get like 5 worthwhile channels(in the U.S.). Now at least in the U.S. if you want cable/satellite it can vary between $50-$100+ a month(not counting promotions, that's the range I've seen). Not sure how much the Sony service will cost, but if it's anything close to the rates of Amazon Prime and Netflix I will jump on it.

So Sony should cater the PS4 to a country with 5.6 million people? Most of whom probably couldn't care less about the PS4?

Aparently, having that opinion means I have to get over myself

If your opinion is that a company should cater to you and only you, yes.
