I tried to make some sort of sweeping generalization of a certain group of people on Facebook, and realised my folly...

"They all drive Nissan Leafs. Leaves? Whatever. What a bunch of hippies."

I believe that Toyota has deemed their plural "Prii", but what is it for Nissan?

Leafs?
Leaves?

Logically, it would be "Leafs". I'd imagine the rules would be similar to that of possession. For example, you're trying to indicate possession of a ball for a guy called Benny. You wouldn't write "it's Bennies' ball," you'd write "it's Benny's ball".

Toronto Maple Leafs?

Correct. It's Leafs. To make a name plural you normally add an "s." When talking about the fruit "blackberry" the plural is "blackberries." When talking about the phone it's Blackberrys."

It's actually Nissan LEAF (Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car), which kind of means "-s" would likely be the most grammatical way to deal with this proper noun. Otherwise, it would be Lorax Entertains A Voltaic-Electric Shoebox.

When I worked at Lexus, we never reached full agreement over whether plural was Lexuses or Lexii. The latter sounded rather "uppity" or "too scientific", but when it comes to a paying customer, they can call it the Pan-Galactic Gargle-Blaster, for all I cared.

I seem to remember someone asking Carlos Ghosn what the plural was, and he said "Leafs." Makes enough sense, I suppose.

Although, if you ask me, we shouldn't have to make up words properly describe multiples of our vehicles.

Whenever I write about Lexus I just leave it at that for the plural, interpreting it in the same way I do a word like "sheep". The same word is singular and plural.

"A Lexus"
"A car park full of Lexus"

I'd also say "Leafs" to answer the OP, and I'd personally use Prius as a singular/plural too, but have been known to use Prii when I'm feeling like a twit.

As it's actually an acronym, as confirmed by Pupik, it should really be written as LEAFs, just don't use an apostrophe for gawd's sake. Some argue that an apostrophe is optional, but they are losers. ;)
