I found a Mitsubushi Pajero Rally Raid Car '85 in the UCD, this car seems a bit useless when there are no dedicated raid events, at least there is a rally special event for rally cars, anyone else found a pointless car (beside the numerous incarnations of skylines and lancers etc)?

The Jay Leno tank car has to be the all-time king...

I got two of them as prize cars, and they have NO resale value...How does a car that cost 4.9 million USED have no resale value??

I realize PD likes their quirky, esoteric cars, but those WWII Volkswagens don't make a lot of sense to me...

I'm not even going to try driving the Schwimmwagen around the Ring

Its actually really fun to drive if you mod the thing into a (very old) beast. Just don't crash coz this thing accelerates from 0-30 in about a minute

I like the quirky, pointless cars, but not as prize cars. I want prize cars I can use, and some of the prize cars just aren't worth the effort it takes to win them.

The B-spec (Expert) Turbo race has a Honda City Turbo (1985) prize car. Really? It's essentially useless, and not even a desirable car. I have no problem finding it in the UCD, but as a prize car? Make the prize cars special in some way.

- Kei cars
- Too many MX5s, Skylines, RX7s, NSXs, Evos, the lot...
- Old VWs
- All those Vitzes/Yarises
- Prius/Insight/iMiev

Since one of my quests is to have owned and driven every car in the game, yes including all the Miatas and Skylines etc., I find no car pointless.

That quest took me several months in GT4 and I expect it will take a lot longer in GT5. Currently up to about 170 owned and driven. Also I'm doing it without trading...

There are no useless cars! You're on GTPlanet, pick whatever car you like and start up a time trial thread :)

So many people take the wrong approach with GT and miss out on half the fun. Don't look at it as a game or a series of challenges, but rather as a huge playground full of cars :)

Now if they'll just give us more tracks...

+1

Just about every time I play, I warm up with my beloved Honda Z ACT. All stock, and just a hoot to drive. It's a good way to learn racing lines, and trying to conserve speed going uphill is a lot of fun. It weighs more than the go-kart, has less power, and mine? It's got over 200 miles on it, all from me just having fun with it. It also makes you appreciate middling cars like the Celica XX 2800GT or the Citroen C4 that much more, as opposed to ignoring the and moving on to something faster.

You have a track creator you don't need more tracks lol! Make your own to save PD the time and effort! :P

I think there are a lot of cars that seem pointless to some, personally I can't really justify why PD decided to put a Citroen 2CV into the game instead of putting the Hyundai Genesis in! 3.0 Turbo V6 is a lot more fun than, well, something you have to push your feet through the floor so you can do a flintstones :P

I must admit I do want to drive cars from around 300bhp+ (barring my own car the Tiburon lol! :P)

Track editor is cool but definitely not a replacement for Midfield and Seattle :( And they just ported over half the tracks so it's not really much effort on their part!

I'll be happy with pretty much ANY new tracks honestly, just a pack with the older layouts of Fuji would make my day :p

Haha, it's what they do for a living

I disagree. I enjoy the huge variety. Yes, some cars seem pointless at first glance but that's the fun of GT, creating situations that would never happen in the real world like 12 VW vans racing around the ring.

Why no Hyundai Genesis? I'm guessing most people poor enough to have to drive Hyundais can't afford a PS3. :P

Anything where there are more than 10 models i.e S2000, skyline, gt-r. Change the color, add 10 kilo's and rename it. Stupid.

I don't believe there are any pointless cars in the game, because the point of a car is subjective. The Tank Car, for example, answers the question 'what would happen if I were to put a tank engine in a road car?'. A lot of people in real life don't see the point of anything but a cheap car with five seats, five doors and an engine, but we wouldn't agree with those people.

All the obscure, weird cars are why I love GT, I've learned a lot (about Japanese cars) from it, and without cars like the Nissan Be-1 or the Honda Beat, I'd probably never know they exist as I've never seen either in real life. I did see a Nissan Pao the other day and nearly had a heart attack, my girlfriend was not impressed. Without GT, I would have been wondering what it was all day (possibly)...

There are plenty of American compact cars that would beat the socks off of alot of the Japanese compacts.

For one, any of the GM cars that came with the LGO 2.3L Quad 4. Research it, that engine has alot of racing history. Pretty potent engine from the factory. With the right mods? Watch out. Im part of a Beretta community, and theres a video on youtube of another member on there and his 92 Beretta GTZ with the Quad 4 beating a WRX.

I really think the '09 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo would be a really good car in the game. 260 hp stock, that and GM took it to nurburgring to tune it.

But no, theres not enough room for those type of cars because that other skyline with a different spoiler should be in the game right? <-- Thats the pointless cars, the 27 extra skylines.

Rediculous.

i think anything under 100 hp is pointless in the game.

I think not!

Remember that elise s1 is only 118 stock and a beast of a car.

- Kei cars

Disagree with this one.

Although I haven't got round to collecting them yet in GT5, back in the days of GT2 I was sad enough to have organised my garage into categories, one of which was Kei cars.

I had some great races between mates in AZ-1s, Cappuccinos and Beats

It says under 100 not over! lol. 118 is over. I have had lots of fun racing cars that only have between 100 and 200 hp before, its the ones under 100 that is pointless. Like that Isuzu Midget or whatever, i won that in A spec and its got like 37 hp. and its a damn mini truck thing! haha

Is that a pic of your car in your avatar?

I wouldn't say they're useless, because of you got a bunch of them racing online it'd be fun, but I really do wonder what PD were thinking by putting the schwimmwagen and the kubelwagen in. A Japanese admiration for Nazi Germany perhaps?

And it was kind of a gyp the way they boasted that there's over a thousand cars in the game, but there's a bunch that are the same but had different names when sold in different countries.
