Quick poll just to gauge where the community stands on this issue. I feel GT6 lacks a lot of replay value due to the fact that real endurance races are absent from the offline modes.

This poll is a simple yes or no to make it crystal clear where the community stands if PD were to ever happen upon it.

Also please leave the 'I hope its in GT7' rhetoric out of the discussion, this is about endurance racing in GT6. Thanks.

Proudly admitting I was the second no vote.

^ sure. It's already available in arcade mode. I just set up a 40 lap event at Sierra. That's 671.10 miles. I ran half the first lap and found the AI competitive. You can adjust the AI to your liking as well. It didn't appear to have fuel consumption or tire wear, but most ASpec events don't anyway.

I'd prefer PD work on other features.

so to be honest I do not use the career mode, even after the release of b-spec, more waiting for other updates, such as the course maker or more tuning options and parts and some normal cars.

Where is the "Meh" option?
The cool wall has it, why not this?

You might want the results viewable without voting then ;)

I'm all for it voted yes, but after the B-Spec update, seems PD isn't thinking along the same lines, no ability to swap drivers, fuel and tire wear.

Do not care. The AI doesn't stands for a fun race, and trying to compensate with worse tyres or car is an artificial way to rise difficulty, but that just turns the race into time attack, and you don't get the thrill of a real race with nice real drivers online.

Althoug, I have to admit I feel kind of a void when browsing the career races not able to find some classic events from the GT Series, such as the mighty Grand Valley 300km. Ho, well, I think I'm going to organize this online.

I would like them back but with GT6's current Ai it wouldn't be very interesting but I guess picking slower cars would make it interesting.

Fixed the poll to show results without voting.

I never really cared for endurance races (especially the 24hr races) i haven't even attempted to complete them in GT5.

GT3 endurance races were fine, anything over 2hr races IMO is just absurd, boring, tedious, and time consuming. But you might say otherwise....

I have to say no. I never really cared much for the really long races 4hr, 9hr, 24hr is just to much time for a race in a game. Ideally they should have been there but allowed to be scaled down to 1minute=1hr then everyone would be happy.

At this point though I don't think they should add endurance races at all. I would much rather have some regular races 2-10 laps in a variety of cars. Some 2-3 lap races on the ring in something other than race cars and at least a chance of dry weather in the day time would be nice. I hate the 24 minute races they have now, time cycle is so fast, always rains basically those are one and done for me. I don't like the rain nor night driving.

I would like to see leaderboards added and I would like the course maker added.

24 hr races can stay out permanently as far as I care.

I absolutely want endurance racing back in GT6. I cannot understand why it was removed in the first place.

Hopefully GT7 will have a completely new AI model which will make them more interesting from a competition perspective.

I want to win 24h du Mans with the TS040-HYBRID please PD!

PD would have heaps of data showing exactly what people played

no doubt few people played endurance races so they took them out

GT6 wants to be more 'inclusive' of players of all kinds and all skill levels so it wants to remove the stuff that most people did not play

eg. I wasnt a big fan of endurance races but i did like the stories of people here who drove the ring for hours on end

that 'extremism' i like even though i may not participate

PD removing these hardcore elements to make GT6 appeal to noobs as it were, makes sense

As much as I'd like it back, we don't need it with how the AI works. Being in the lead for hours is the same as driving by myself for hours, which I already do.

Well yes, but now its too late. Everybody completed the game and the rewards trough the game hasnt been good like in some previous GT games. But yeh it would be good tho have like classic Grand Valley 60laps or something like that.
But this game lacks rewards, everybody can buy anything, nothing is hidden like Red Bull 5G car or something...

But that's the point of endurance races. They do have fuel and tyre consumption. Without that it's just a long race, without the strategy of managing tyres and fuel.

I'd accept them having it available in Arcade if they don't want to have it in the career mode, for which there are admittedly decent reasons. But making it impossible in every single player mode seems foolish. It can't possibly have been a big deal to be able to enable tyre/fuel consumption in arcade mode for the few hardcore people who want to emulate that style of racing.

But with NO fuel usage and tyre wear.....

If they really used the data of 'what people are' playing, it would probably show Route X, B-Spec, and Like The Wind should be the basis of all future GT events.

Also the 'being inclusive' argument is lost on me 16 months post release, only the hardcores are left anyway... throw us a bone please PD!

The outcome of this poll was obvious, but as I've said on countless threads, we don't represent GT's target market, but rather an ultra-hardcore 1%. If this was put on IGN, I'd probably expect more people to say no than yes, with the comments underneath the article asking why the hell anyone would want to drive for more than half an hour.

The fact that gtplanet members want endurance racing doesn't make it a no-brainer for Polyphony Digital.

I voted 'no' because of the AI. I'm already winning a race at the end of lap 1 or 2 so why would I want to aimlessly drive around for 2, 6, 12 hours when I've already won? I did a 14 lap race of Bathurst (40 minutes or so) and I was lapping the back markers that were in the same car class. I had even downtuned my car to make it more difficult but I was 6 seconds ahead after lap 1. I'd shoot myself if I had that for multiple hours.

You can still do endurance races in GT online which makes it much better. I think that is what PD was going for. They want the real person racing real people and allowing them so much controllability in what they do. I regularly run Endurance Races with CCR and they're great fun because of the unpredictability of the results, the drivers and everything else that can happen. You just don't get that with the AI, it's a guaranteed win before you even started. That is why I don't want it back in the single player. It's a dead and boring concept for me.
