Let it speak more. We need more!

Somebody really could try to reach Kaz on his twitter about this soon... (when the things get somewhat better in Japan...) we already got some stuff by "sending the message" to them :)

Pllllllllllls put rims for standards pd. They have some cars like the eclipse and talon that have the worst rims ever but once u change them and add a spoiler and carbon fiber hood a little crazy paint and bam they suddenly become cool looking.

I voted yes, because it's a nice-to-have feature and I have no compelling reason to say no to it. But to be quite frank, compared to all the real problems GT5 has, this is really a triviality; almost a non-issue.

I would hope PD have about 100 other things on their priority list that go before this.

It is more serious than people think. its like a "missing" or non-working feature. We had it before, since GT2... and racing a 700hp Supra in stock rims its just utter-weirdo.

Yes. I'd be happy if they put at least 20 wheels from GT4 (in 3D) for every standard car.

If they include the rims from GT4 for standard cars, then yes.

But no, if you can use the premium rims for standards. Would look rediculous.

Last thing PD needs to be listening to is the wanting to look cool in photomode crowd. Photomode should be banned from racing games. Picture taking has nothing to do with racing. Wheels, while needed to make the car roll, the look of the wheel again has nothing to do with racing.

Yes, I would like to change rims on standard cars. Basically I would just like to be able to put Black rims on some of my more highly modified standard cars as i've done so since GT3, they really do look the part 👍

Now while I like the strategy of doing so, I agree that it is something that should be visited later on when life in Japan is settled.

From my perspective, it's not trivial at all. I don't see 100 things ahead of it actually. To be precise, I only see one glaring problem in GT5 outside of the wheel issue, and that's the A-Spec events.

So, you racing using hubcaps?

I dont care, the better spent their time on something else

I'd rather have more premiums and no standards at all. Or better AI. Or qualifying. Or damage & tire wear in a-spec...

So no, there's forza for all ricers out there, improve the game first

'Customization' was listed as one of the prime highlights of this game. Wheels, even if they are just for standard cars, would fall into this category. Therefore, it ought to be rather high on PD's list of priorities.

Car enthusiast you are not, GT is not just a racing game, by definition is it a driving game. It's less about going fast and more about getting a feel for many different cars whilst driving.

Even if we don't get rims for standard cars, I would like the option to paint them. I have noticed that the visuals for the standard rims have kept increasing since launch of GT5, they are now for the most part fully 3 dimensional, just look at any standard car wheels and you can clearly see that PD was basically working on them still. Now how about painting and a paint shop that works on both standards and premiums cars. GT5 has a long way to go to be done, keep on PD and we should have more stuff in this game than any other.

Maybe "standard" rims for "standard" cars. :sly:

The current rims would look out of place on the standards and that's probably why they can't be changed right now.

Hubcaps are not wheels. For that matter, "rims" are not wheels.

He is right. What your wheels look like have zero impact on racing. The size, and weight does have an impact. I would like to see that implemented before they worry about cosmetics.

Aside from loading up the car in the garage you really won't see the wheels on a standard car. Once the cars are in motion you won't see the difference between the wheels on other cars. You can't put standards in photomode. I really don't see how this is a high priority.

THIS.

The rims really improved on most models... Some of them really get me pretty impressed... the CLK55 rims for Example.

Actually I want the car look cool when I buy it, change oil in it, wash it and watch the occasional replay. I like my car to look sharp in real life and virtual life. Racing Teams all over the World spend tons of money on graphics, paint, WHEELS and advertising.

Besides if graphics didn't matter in racing games, we'd be driving around rectangles on pixelated stick roads. See Battlezone by Atari...

It is not a driving game. Every thing you do when driving said cars takes place on RACE TRACKS. If it were a "driving simulator" as so many graphic obsessed casual photomoders suggest, then it would be a in a world like TDU. Open roads, cops, traffic, etc.

But no, every bit of driving is on a race track. That makes it a racing game. The problem is, developers are so busy trying to make sure they pick up more and more casual buyers, they keep adding this CRAP like paints and wheels and customization and photomodes so these people can make pretty pictures. Which would be fine if that happened in a vacuum. But it doesn't. Every stupid gimmick that gets added means something that would improve the racing in the game either gets dropped (like T10 has done with Forza) or never gets added in the first place like with GT5.

And on the whole bit about "customization" being a prime focus and therefore should be a top priority. That's funny, as far as I can remember people were told standards would be just that and there wouldn't be any wheels or whatnot for them. Further, I'm looking directly at the back of my GT5 game case. Nowhere does it say anything about customization of cars. It does however say that there will be leaderboards and matchmaking. Two features on the back of the stinking box are nowhere to be seen, and we've got lame petitions so people can change and paint rims.

Customization was highlighted in a little something called the E3 trailer, but whatever...

Leaderboards and matchmaking... the same whine over and over and over. The online is fine and works really well for me, and for zillions of people.

And btw, do you guys don't have your own thread about that already? I'm astonished how people like to enter all the threads possible on GTP and spread their whines... can't we just stay focused on something?

Here, the chat is about wheels and standards... And that's a tradition on the GT series since GT2... there's dozens of other games where you have complete built in racecars ONLY for your pleasure... GT players know what to expect... its a driving game, a racing game and a car collection game... and because of that, you have things such as GT Auto and customization. The major part of the car list on this game is based on stock cars, not pure racing cars, these are the minor part...

Please respect that... thanks in advance.

This 👍

If they imported all cars (well... like 95% of them all) from GT4... why they didn't import the rims??? Couldn't pay the money I guess??? Lazyness??? Maybe... This is yet anooother of the many flaws this game has...

Hope they bring them back some day...

I voted yes, the standard rims look too low res. Especially if your trying to take pics of a still car.

That, plus I don't see a reason not to.

So read the quote below

Racing Teams all over the World spend tons of money on graphics, paint, WHEELS and advertising.

And not only racing teams, but every car manufacturer and tuner aims to make cars look as beautiful and individual as possible, and the buyer did not usually have little effect on it.

You my friend are completely confused as to what driving actually is, racing is a type of driving. Just because you are on race tracks doesn't mean you can simple drive around them. la Sarthe and Nurburgring are for all intents and purposes ROADS, not race tracks. Sorry but customization of cars is part of car culture to begin with, I suggest you go play a bone stock racing only game...Iracing is such a game.

The game does have leaderboards, go to the time trials online and you will find them. Test Drive does incredibly illegal things, you cannot drive above the speed limit on public roads and not get in trouble for it. But track days as GT is a game that allows you to have, you can drive as fast as your car can go. Read the disclaimer about driving in GT5, lol. Would you care to know that guaranteed that majority of manufacturers would only allow their cars in the game only if when you drive you cannot come into contact with pedestrians, courses must be marked clearly. I know that Honda has a long standing rule with their cars appearing in games, last time you saw a honda in a non strictly laid out course setting which include barriers and such, NFS Underground.

You are a bit one sided as GT, Forza and the like aren't simply about driving/racing, it's also about being creative and socializing. If you care to do neither then you can, all up to you. But refrain from complaining about the game not upholding your disillusioned definition of a racing game, no where on the case does it state GT is a racing only game. Taking photos is a part of driving/racing, unless you are into arcade only racing, even Iracing is about community hence why it has so many mods for it. I hope you find your type of "racing" game, GT5 sure isn't it.

PD! OVER HERE!!!

I have the solution, and its EASIER! Dont pay attention to my GTPlanet fellows!

Instead of having to put a whole new batch of wheels for standards, ...listen to this... you´ll love it... Why don´t you make each and every standard PREMIUM! In that way, we´ll be able to use the wheel selection that the game already has! SIMPLE AS THAT!

(... If you´re interested in hiring me, Mr. Yamauchi, please send me a private message to my profile. Thanks...)

rims on standards? damn right i would like some. they did after all give us GT 4.5, might as well put more GT4 features in the game, no?

I voted Yes, I don't uderstand why PD didn't include GT4's wheel selection for standard cars in the first place.
