While the Spec V is fun to drive, the ZR-1 is just a ridiculously unruly beast that was made to driven hard. And it was built in the good ol' USA. ZR-1 gets my vote.

With ol' cheap GM plastic interior 👍

Who cares about the interior when you are driving a 640hp sports car? As long as the interior is functional I'm happy.

Wonder how many of you who have actually driven a Corvette C6 when they say that the interior feels cheap. I have and yes, the interior isn't the best for a car which costs like 70,000 $, but it doesn't feel cheap.

V8 noise and 'more interesting' handling ... its a no brainer
But I don't get excited by Japanese cars, actually nor do I so much about American cars
(I like the variety of European cars so much more!!)

Anybody got a list of cars that are +/- within 10% of the price of either of these cars? I'm sure i could find something i would rather than either. That said, i do have a slight soft-spot for the GTR.

Well, the SpecV is about $150k, the ZR1 is about $130k. Other cars in that range are probably the Audi R8 4.2, Porsche GT3, you can get a Viper ACR for a bit cheaper, Maserati Gran Turismo, Jaguar XKR, Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

Hello Senor,
What an easy question! Ofcourse nothing beats the king of the corvettes, an supercar uprising. The car itself is gorgeous and seductive, it unleashes more power across the globe.

This thread is becoming what I always read on youtube as I continue on reading, debating which one is better :yuck:.....no, I didn't vote because I rarely use either of these in GT5 (bought a ZR1 last december but haven't drove it):indiff:

Same here, I don't even have a GTR and I have a ZR1 which I painted white and it looks sick as hell, but I drive the c6 z06 more (probably because I'm going to get it in the next couple of years).

And kudos to the pics of how big a boat the GTR looks. Its a bad ass car no doubt just too big for the category it tries to fit in.

This is much better than any youtube debate, despite the odd wildly unsupported claim. It's fine for someone to state their preference but anyone who honestly believes that either is not an amazing car is just ignorant.

Despite being similar in price and performance, the two actually cater for slightly different markets so it makes sense that some people clearly prefer one to the other.

And I'll agree with whoever pointed out the Amuse Phantom, that thing is incredible! I'm surprised its not in GT5 to be honest (or any modified GT-R's for that matter)

It is quite amazing, although admittedly the angle of that photo exaggerates it a bit.

See below: The R35 is not that much bigger. It's amazing to see how good the R32 still looks though 👍

The new 2012 GTR as in would be a completely different experience when driven. Keeps up/surpasses the ZR1 with the natural understeer, 400lbs more, rear seats, an actual trunk, and 100 less hp. Not to mention costing less as well. Your move chevy

Huh? Are you saying that the GTR weighs 400 lbs more than the ZR-1 and has rear seats, and so thats a good thing? :dunce:
As a side note, I believe the Corvette has about twice as much cargo space in the trunk.
And when has understeer ever been a desirable trait in a car like this?

You could buy a Jetta and get more trunk space and rear seat room than both of them. If someone buys a GTR over a Vette because of rear seats and trunk space they're shopping in the wrong class of cars.

I'm not trying to flame, but I really don't understand your post at all.

^ Yeah I was a bit confused by that post as well. I think what he was getting at is that the GT-R manages to outpace the ZR-1 despite the extra weight, power deficit etc.

I think the GT-R is too heavy, but that said the way in which in overcomes its mass is nothing short of amazing. At the end of the day though you can't fight physics so it will always feel like a heavier car than the ZR-1. I hope the new corvette doesn't put on too much weight

I choose the Nissan GT-R SpecV. While the ZR1 is very quick and handles like a dream, I find the AWD GT-R to be more forgiving.

I've just been testing both these cars on the ring. Best I get on both is 7:28.xxx it's the same for the official gtr time on the ring. The ZR1 is more tail happy but it keep you awake! So if I can do the same time as a gtr in a zr1 with leaf springs I'm happy as larry. The zr6 was off the pace by about 15 seconds.

My two cents

Im saying that Nissan knows how make a livable sports car. Wont fit more than a small child in the back but you wouldnt have to get rid of the car. Shows that Chevy has a long way before they can catch up to Nissan in terms of performance. Considering the disadvantages.

A livable sports car? Because it has a rear seat where no one over 8 years old will fit:D

No, the GTR is a sports car, but you can't compare it with a family saloon. Sure, you can use it as your everyday car, just like the Corvette. However, I agree with you, the GTR is a better everyday car.

I think the only reason why the GTR is so heavy compared to the Corvette is the awd-system and all electronics, and two of the main reasons why the GTR is so fast is just because the awd-system and all electronics;)

So I say like I said before, both of them are superior cars in their own way. Chevy and Nissan are following two different philosophies but in the end the result is similar when we are speaking of performence, even if they are completely different cars.

Depending on your needs I guess that could be an advantage, but in this type of car it's probably the last thing I'd look at. Personally, the corvette just embodies the sports car ideal more than the GT-R. Less compromised by the extra weight.

Can you imagine how much better the GT-R would be sans rear seats (and the weight that would go with them)?

I understand that Nissan was trying to make a car you could use every day, but really, at that price I don't think I'd care.

In either event, this is getting further from GT5 and more to real life. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to continue the car talk 👍

They removed the back seat in the V-spec?

I thoroughly enjoy driving both and, while I did vote for the ZR1 yesterday, I'd vote for the GTR today. And probably change my mind again tomorrow.

Either way, thanks to this thread, I dragged both cars out onto the track for a little fun which I probably wouldn't have done otherwise.
