How do you want your car to act?

Neutral, if i want oversteer i go on the gas a little earlier....

Love the IS-F, very neutral, 8 speed so if you wanna have fun you go in high revs, if you wanna have grip you put a higher gear.

Well Neutral is great for driving fast, however I do like to setup my Car's to have the ability to make a correction if needed in the driving line through forced-oversteer.
Rusty*

For on-line racing, I prefer slight oversteer on the way in and slight understeer on the way out.

For hot lapping, I prefer slight oversteer.

I like a neutral car that with a hint of understeer(safe and generally quicker at the end of the day) but can be pushed into a predictable oversteer on demand (Generally with a torquey V8). So really a FR with great balance

I think you need to delete NEUTRAL form the POLL. Title states over or under.. and of course hardcore racer will pick neutral since its the fastest one.. So I wonder what the people from neutral would go with.

That is a fair call, ill lean towards understeer(it`s controlable and slower is faster after all) with smooth power oversteer so that i`m control and not the other way around a la... GT40 :nervous:

I don't know. I like muscular cars, which don't really have the tightest handling, but are prone to big fun powerslides. So I guess I like a nice sturdy car that can use the throttle to get tighter turn. That would be understeer and oversteer I think.

+1. But, in the case I make a mistake, some oversteer (especially liftoff or power oversteer) can save the day. Understeer will not. So I want to have some oversteer at my disposal, just in case.

Same here, slight hint of lift off oversteer as a get-out-of-jail-free card. I find it helps too when trying to pass someone, as you can change your line mid-corner

how about both Imprezas? they have nice stability, but tap the brake and rear breaks loose. Perfect for braking deep into corner.

Evos too, or at least they can be easily set up that way. Can't wait for GT5 and the ability to alter the VCD in the in-race setup menu, could have 50:50 torque distribution for understeer then 30:70 or 10:90 for big drifts that are somewhat easier to control since the front wheels are still gripping...

...I just love the feeling that I really have to push the car into the corner and through it.👍
Me too.

I don't like it to be too difficult to turn, but I prefer it for the stability under braking as I tend to still be on the brakes just a bit during turn-in.

Same here, I could make the difference with a setup going from good to being great messing with the acceleration/breaking effect on the diff.

I voted for oversteer.

I like to be able to induce oversteer when needed, not necessarily have it present in every circumstance. I prefer to drive FR cars, the MR's tend to mess with my head a bit, where their handling is much more neutral, IMO.

I normally setup 4WD cars with harder compounds on the rear so that some oversteer is present. Frankly, I can't stand driving powerful FF cars. Low powered FF is OK, since understeer taking you offline is much less of an issue.

I have my second thought. I am still not going to pick the obvious.. Neutral
This Time I go with Under steer. Because Sure you have to watch when you brake, but you can really push the car when coming out of the corner and don't really worry about spinning out.

In an understeering car if you arrive at a corner a bit too hot you're stuffed, you just end up driving off the track or having to slow to a crawl. With a slight oversteer balance or netural balance where you can easily provoke oversteer you can throw the car a little sideways to scrub off speed and make it round without losing too much time. I'm always slow in an understeering car because I have to leave more of a margin because I know I can't adjust the line very much once I'm committed. I guess I'm just not consistent and precise enough to drive an understeering car quickly.

Irrespective of which is quicker, oversteer is much more fun and far more satisfying when you get it right. I find understeer too safe and predictable to be any fun at all.

I voted neutral, but I prefer everything that comes with driving muscle cars, where you need to keep up momentum and blast out of corners, sometimes resulting in oversteer.

Oversteer all the way, its just a nice feeling to have the back end step out abit and love it round the corner with the throttle

Yeah that's for sure, Muscle car's being for me, V8's....Torque! And Torque can mean effortless wheel spin.:D:tup:

I prefer oversteer, I just love the feeling of the back end a little bit out, but I seem to be able to drive a car faster with understeer.

Late apex, make the most use of that straight.:D

+1:tup:Slow in fast out,is what was drummed in to me by the oufella,:ouch:.I dont mind oversteer when i am the one forcing the car into it,but lift off oversteer, or when braking i am not a fan.

Neutral at lower speeds, but four-wheel drift at higher speeds is best for me.

I voted neutral, but I actually like a little of everything. Preferably some lift off oversteer midcorner, and acceleration understeer. Makes for a very easy to control car, and you always know where you´re going.
Drifting = no thank you, too slow.

Tough call whether I "like" either, the corner decides which is the faster way, but if a car is understeering you may be apexing early, you may have too much rear grip which could go hand in hand with not enough front grip, front could be too soft, for oversteer the opposite obviously, but power oversteer is another kettle of fish. All these suspension/aero attributes are key to a lap time, therefore I think my vote should be neutral, with driving style more key to car attitude than car attitude deciding for me.
