This week will mark the 3rd month that GT5 has been released to the general public, after reading many reviews about Gran Turismo 5 from the following sites, I thought it would be a great idea to hear what members of GTPlanet would rate GT5.

Me personally, I would give Gran Turismo 5 a 9/10, I say this because Polyphony Digital shows dedication to making the game better with frequent (well I guess not so frequent) updates. The latest being v1.06.
Most game companies just sell you the game and then . . . your just on your own. :)

Well, ive been waiting for this game for a looooong time...Id give it a 6 out of 10. There are many things I would change, and a lot of things that I personally find great,

7. Because it's GT, because there's finally Ferrari and Lambo in the game. Because some cars looks just amazing and overall graphics and physics are pretty good.
Why not 9.5 (my personal score for GT4) or at least 9.0 (GT3)? Because they have dropped so many things, like a fast forward b-spec/replays, 400+ a-spec races, because there's nothing to do after 50 hours of gameplay, except for online races.
I could post a huge wall of text, but i won't. So to say it's short: there's not a single improvement for the series, since GT4, that are made by PD. All that's better are: graphics, physics, car models, which is obvious, since PS3 is a next-gen console compared to PS2.

Couldn't have really said much more than this. 9.0/9.5 for the actual simulation/physics, 5.0/5.5 for the 'game' parts, bringing it to 7.0/7.5 overall.

By GT standards: its a 5.

GT is an amazing franchise, no question. GT5 is the worst entry. I had a LOT more fun playing Prologue. Prologue was a good DRIVING GAME. Buy car, race car, done.

Fun rating: 2/10

for reference on fun rating:
1/10 death
0/10 castration

It's got a lot of problems and they bother me every time I play. Every patch seems to make things better, but I'm still not a huge fan.

GT5 does provide a solid driving experience though, and for that I'd say an 8.2/10.
(awful for a GT game)

If all the window dressing comes together in later patches, it could easily climb into the high 9's for me. As is, I'd rate a number of games with more primitive driving mechanics higher, since they're put together into more complete and polished packages.

I give it a 5.5.

The driving is great and the premium cars are beatutiful, but I feel this is the only thing GT5 has going for it. The poor carrer mode and other issues makes it no where near as fun as the previous games.

6.5/7 out of 10. Online is terrible (more so than Prologue) , the standard-premium dichotomy is a headache, the graphics in some parts are embarassingly poor and it has the shortest gameplay of any GT game yet (personally due to the lack of Test Track 0-400/1000/Max Speed tests, a good online mode and variable used cars).

7 being generous.

I have had every game from GT1-GT5. Huge GT enthusiast, but I have to say after the initial shock of awesome wore off, little things end up pissing me off more and more every time I play it. There are just too many things that are stupid. I mean really. The one that takes away a whole point in itself is the fact that I can't shift with my G25 while the tires are spinning. STOP GOING INTO NEUTRAL. :grumpy:

I gave it a 8.0-8.5. It's a very solid game, just as GT4 was a solid game. The game physics have improved, cars have improved, and with the 1.06 lots of things have improved but there are still many things that can be included. I'm not complaining that there isn't everything but a 9.5-10 would be for a game that needs no updates.

Im loving all the people posting 6-7 scores are on a gt website 3 months after release bothering to comment on a game they see as average, maybe worse, that does seem slightly strange guys!!!!

Its almost like your giving that sort of score to be "cool" like edge or games magazine.

Not one SINGLE reviewer in that list in the OP had ever played the game far enough to really get to the grind. First impressions don't make for good judgments. My first impressions of GT5 were good, also. It's not until you get to close to Level 30 A-Spec you realize how short changed you were.

It gets a 5 from me, and that is almost entirely the physics and the 'Ring.

Shift 1 would have got a 7 from me, and that is WITHOUT good physics and a great 'Ring... :sly:

Negative ghost rider. I love cars. I love Gran Turismo, doesn't mean it is not without its faults. I am optimistic about the future of GT5... which is why I added that in my above post. While I do see where you are coming from, I think people were a little let down by the game, specifically the lack of single player depth and the 800 car models that I would rather not look at. However, there is hope for the future, which is why I am here.

9-9.5 It lacks of the astronomical amount of GT4 events (especially rally), more Premium cars, and other improvable and extra things through update and downloadables

7.75. Technically, it's a great game. The physics and graphics are top notch. But the lack of thought put into the single-player and some of the missing features at release keep GT5 from being as incredibly awesome as the previous GTs.

Ive played em all from the beginning, and GT5 is my favourite, why you ask, well, online racing, the photo-realistic graphics, 1000+ cars, best physics engine developed by PD, the almost perfect simulation of nurburgring, F1 cars, lamborghini, x1 dream, and of course.....Ferrari....nuff said.

I give it somewhere between 8.5 and 9.1. There are improvements which can be made and some design decisions which are questionable but the game is still a hell of a lot of fun.

However, I should point out that I'm used to treating the single player element of any game these days as training before I move on to the multiplayer so if you're not indulging in the online aspect of it your mileage may vary.

You guys that are rating it at 5s and 6s should go and have a look at some of the games which score in the 50%-60% bracket and ask yourself if you're being fair or objective.

If you look here you'll see a list of the games released over the last 90 days. On the second page you'll find those 50% and 60% games - games you've never heard of. Games which include reviews highlighting serious gamestopping bugs, less than 2 hours gameplay, fundamentally flawed design. I'm sorry but if you rate GT5 in that category I just can't, and don't, take you seriously.

7 to 7½ for, as some have posted, the improved physics and the Nürburgring Nordshleife (improved over GT4)

This will rise if the updates continue to improve the game :) I hope Kaz and the developers continue to listen to this community :gtpflag:

I've played all the GT games and so far, I've enjoyed GT4 the most. GT5 came as a disappointment to me mainly because of the lack of content and most importantly, it's not as hardcore as GT4. PD probably wanted GT5 to be more accessible to a larger player base (read: non-gearheads). If I were to rate GT5 as a simple racing game, I'd give it a 9 but as a racing simulation: 7. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh but taking into consideration the differences in hardware between the PS2 and PS3, I was expecting a lot more than just eye candy.

Couldn't have put it better myself. It is because of the physics and the quality of the graphics of the premium cars that I have had so much fun playing this. Overall, I'd give the game an 8. The game design in places is a little disappointing and the game did suffer from over-hyping, presumably mostly due to the fact it took so long to be released.

However, I still haven't played any other game since I bought this, and I'm reasonably confident that the game will be improved further with the regular updates to come. Add in the additional seasonal content for free and the decent photo-mode, I think it'll be a while before I need a break from playing this. :)

8/10

Great road car and low speed physics, but weak when you get to the F1 car level, decent but not brilliant FFB, decent but not brilliant sounds (better than most of the competition), excellent graphics for the PS3 and the premium model cars are amazing, awesome quality tracks, best drifting physics in any game to date. Plenty of fun and challenging content in the game and some decent racing, the AI is lacking but the game as a whole is polished and full of enough high quality content to keep me happy.

A great overall game, that could be improved plenty, but does things a lot better than many other titles.

GT4 was a better game perhaps time frame wise, but the physics and wheel support have come on massive leaps since then, and GT5 is more challenging, GT4 had many many events but nearly all of them were grinding spree's and lacked challenge or direction. GT4's only challenging content came in the licences and challenge events. Much like GT5 with its licences and special events, only GT5 included the challenge type events in the Licences and the special events got a whole section of their own. GT5 also came with the seasonal events, which have spiced things up a bit. Personally this does it over the massive ammounts of unneeded events in GT4. I completed GT4 with 100% along with all golds in licences, I kept playing it for years and it was my favourite of the series, but GT5 is a better game.

As released: 8

Currently 8.5 to 9

There's still some issues to be fixed, but the game is becoming better each month.

I give it 8.5
Every time i put it on the HD screen, im just like "NO... WAY..." thats how good it looks, and with the amazing sense of speed in 16:9 that i think is only bettered by wipeout fusion... it loses 1 mark for the puny number of a-spec races, and another half for the shocking interior detail of the standard cars. Yes, thats you, gearknob in the Cizeta...
I find it funny that people keep saying gt5 has 'less than fifty hours of single player' to them i say, go to enduro league and count the hours of the hour based races. From memory, thats 2 x 24hour, a 9hour, 4hour... and theres the other leagues too... and on top of everything there is b-spec, but i dont really count that as a game.

It would have got a 9.5 / 10 from me, but it got 8.5 as the whole Standard Vs Premium issuse lost a lot of love from me.
Other than that, it's getting better and better!
