Polyphony Digital contracted by Nissan to design R35 GT-R 's multifunction interface

I just hope it doesn't have all those anoying warning boxes saying 'Do you want to see the water temperature? Y/N' - 'Are you sure you want to see the water temperature? Y/N' - 'Would you like to see the water temperature now? Y/N' etc etc. :indiff:

Or having it save your changes whenever you get in. :P

So when you’re running low on petrol you’re limited to 80kph (50mhp), whilst the satnav directs you to the nearest service station. Awesome.

I take it Nissan’s yet to confirm the inclusion of B–spec functionality. :boggled:

You'll probably have to drive it for 5000 miles until you can unlock certain items from the multi-use screen.

They look hard-to-read, if the car is moving.

Before GT4, I would have been happy with them designing an interface. It makes me wonder, though, if there will be 50 different versions of the R35 to celebrate.

That's very interesting! The thought of a video game maker doing things other then making games is unthinkable. I understand that PD also accidently designed the Nismo bodykit for the 350Z back in the GT Concept days. It just goes to show how highly the GT franchise and it's developers are looked upon by the car industry, particuly the Japenese car industry.

So is this Nissan's way of displaying every possible function of the car while not cluttering the place with 500 gauges? That doesn't sound like too bad of a tool yet somehow I don't think this will be interesting to anybody but those who bought their car in the last month and track racers.

So, I get in, and instead of a usual startup problems, I stare at a red spinning disk on the center console. Great.

It's hardly a new thing, they did the same thing with the R34. Well apart from the fact that PD didn't design the interface.

Quite right, but it didn't look nearly as cluttered and actually seemed to work quite well, posting necessary data and whatnot.

I'd have to get up close to the car and actually use it to get a good feel for it, but then again, I much prefer analog gauges on the dashboard where they're supposed to be anyway.

What the hell the R34's interface looked way worse, i've actually been in an R34 and the interface looked more like an aftermarket thing.

Basically any chance to nitpick this car.

The guages on the screen appear to be secondary information, which you don't really need directly infront of you anyways (plus, they would clutter up the cluster anyways).

I still don't like it.

Does this mean that we are going to have to wait for GT5 even longer than we've waited for GT4? :boggled:

I think you'll just have to wait until this car comes out. But then you will have to shell out the $70,000 to play it....

At least it's not Vista.

It looks terribly 80s. Sorry, not my cup of tea.

It's totally appropriate. The R34 and earlier were very 80's themselves. This at least looks mid-90's.

Having such information displayed on an LCD (and having selectable info) is not exactly new, thanks to the aftermarket, but it seems to be new on a production car. Does anyone know what the presets refer to? Do they mean display presets, radio presets, or suspension/engine/etc. presets?

I doubt it would be suspension settings, but then it wouldn't surprise me considering the car weighs as much as a full diesel combine.
