Thank you once again maskrider for the videos! You truly are a vital asset here at GTPlanet! :)
OMG it takes me 1 hour and 8 minutes to download, aslo i have hihg speed ADSL, thanks but can you host it somewhere else next time?

I know that the F1 in GT4, although very similar in most aspects, has a nose which closer resembles an IRL cars (with a F1 05' style and height wing) conical rather than the flat sided style that all F1's use theses days. And i know that the GT4 cars run on full slicks as opposed to the groved slicks of modern F1's - But i've also noticed that the 'track' of the Polyphoney car is much wider than the current F1 regulations permit, has anyone else noticed this?

Firstly, look at the height of the fron wing, it is not 2005-spec, it is 2004. Not sure what year that McLaren is, but look at the height of the wing on both cars, and you will see that the endplates are actually a little lower than the McLarens, as well as the height of the front wing main-plane. Despite all of the side shots showing the F1 car has a higher nose, that front-on picture shows that it is not 2005-spec, but 2004.
People need to keep in mind that the shape of the wing itself can sometimes make it appear higher than it actually is (this is very apparent with the Sauber C24 and Toyota TF105 this year).

Now to get to your question about the width of the F1 car in GT4. It appears as though they are using the old pre-1998 specifications for width, and that the car has a track of 200 cm, instead of the current 150 cm (I believe).

The Polyphoney F1's front wing looks higher in some of the stationary 'garage' pix, but yes, it probably is based around 2004 regs.

The nose shape and track width and the fact that the air-boxes have no T-bar cameras - do make them look a little IRLish, although i'm sure this is coincidential.

can ypu plaese tell me what all kinds of the mighty f1 cars how many there are in the game

There appears to be only one F1 in GT4 - but it comes in ten different colour schemes. Unlike the F1's in GT3 (NTSC not PAL) the GT4 F1 seems to be generic rather than based on a particular F1 model.

Has anyone tried 'going flat' through 130R at Suzuka in the GT4 F1?

It isn't because the nose is IRL-derived, it is just that it is not derived from the current era of Formula One designs. It appears as though it got its inspiration, perhaps, from the 1994 Ferrari 412 T1

Now obviously, it isn't exactly like the 412s nose, but it is the same general shape.
As for the air-box area, again, it is not that its IRL-derived, it just simply does not have the camera mount in place, causing it to look foreign (many think the black camera mount is a wing, however, it is not).

ok, thanks, another question:

did somebody actually managed to push the F1 under 5min at the Nurb?

Can I at least get the game delivered before you start making requests of my time! :) :) :)

Just Kidding!

LOL!

I doubt I'll be able to do it under 6mins myself, let alone 5mins!

I'm sure once people keep practicing, just like any other track, lap times will fall. I'm sure a sub 5 minute time is within reach in the hands of a skilled driver and the F1 car.

The nose could be A1 inspired. Modern.Which would fit the other modern appearances of the car.
No, it's not A1 inspired, I guess the speculation will never end and nobody will accept the fact that it is F1 inspired, just from an older F1 car (the nose, that is). I suppose the fact that it has FORMULA in the name, as in, Formula One, isn't enough of a dead giveaway. The A1 chassis wasn't even finalized when PD modelled the car, so do the math.

Hmm, maybe you do not know this, but the nurburgring is a very high speed track. The F1 car cannot compete agains the group C cars there I think!

The F1 car cannot go above 350 kmh, or the wings must be extremely flat, so less to 0 downforce is created. Then the group C cars are faster on the straight...

Just as Le Mans, F1 cars don't have a chance there either.

what are group c cars?
nissan 89 and 92 or minolta toyota 88c-v?

there is video with minolta running 5.11 on Nurb.

are these cars faster than 'real' LM cars like R8?
