Well i was happy with the game originally and im even more so after the latest update. Just because you are not happy with the game or with the way that PD do things doesn't mean me or anyone else feels the same its your opinion. What makes you think me , you or anyone else can make a difference to the way PD or any other developer do things like i said that is the way it works now. PD are fixing things as we have had 4 updates all free of charge in the month after release and probably a lot more on the way. If you think you have got good grounds to take PD to court then good luck with that but i doubt it would get there in the first place. I think its laughable how you and a few others complain on here but you still play the game for hours on end , if it was as bad as you say you wouldn't be playing at all.

+1 👍

NeuroFiZT you need to quit it man, I'll applaud you in reeling in the people here and increasing your post count from 0 to 60. Well done! now find a new topic, your actually talking about taking PD to court over false advertising, pass me what your smoking bud, wake up and smell the roses, you are delusional.

Wow. I'm getting lectures on how to live my life, while all I'm asking for is that a game be finished upon release (especially if it took 5 years to develop).

If any company released a game like this 5 years ago the response would have been atrocious. Even to me, practice like this was unheard of before GT5.

Am I really being that unreasonable?

No, you're telling it as it is, but in this forum you're trying to beat an unbeatable fanboish force. Whatever you say they'll throw back lines of illogical arguments to prove you wrong. The battle is lost before it began. Leave it as it is and try to enjoy the game while waiting for PD to fix what they couldn't do for 5 years.

The restart after finishing a race is a great feature. It’s good for tuners trying to tweak lap times and its good for grinding.

Everything else I completely agree with you on.

I only hope that the short / easy GT5 will be patched with more content for the hard-core driver.

Ha! nice one, man... I actually never said I was taking them to court. It's cool, just my opinion. I think the previous gt games were more finished, and I don't see why focusing on online play has to take away from single-player. Just my opinion. Was curious as to everyone else's, and everyone has chipped in. Thanks for that.

Online multiplayer is the future of all games. The sooner people get with it the better for all.

Personally, I play games to get away from others. After a long day at work dealing w/ the a**holes of the world the last thing I want to do is deal with more for entertainment. Playing GT5 is cathartic for me, its my escape. For that reason I will never understand the draw of online play. I hope future GT's don't water down single player aspects in favor of more online interaction. I may very well be in the minority here but....

While I loved GT4 things have changed in the racing world in the last 5 years. No longer will games like GT4 where the sole focus was on single player offline mode do so well. Online is where it is at. Nothing like trading paint with your friends across the world.

There was a great deal of grinding in GT4 as well. I could not tell you how many times I ran over the mountian in the Capri Rally just to sell that Raid Rally car and get money to buy or mod a car nor how many times I had Bob run the El-Capitian endurance race for the prize money and car to sell.

The races paid much less in general with the exception of the endurance events and the ability to win the prize cars over and over.

I do wish they would have kept the tire restrictions in GT-Life as well as tire wear in all races and the manufacturer events. Gt-Life mode is scaled down a lot and made a little easier than before but again the focus must be in online racing to really be a player in the market today.

As much as I love GT without online racing I likely would not have even bought it and I surely would not have bought a PS3 to play it on nor a $400 racing wheel.

I am very happy to see things addressed in the latest patch and I hope PD will continue to address things, add new events and constantly improve the online aspect of the game. If they continue it has the potential to be the greatest racer to date.

I see what you're saying... and I think we agree on everything actually. See, they didn't address the problem with the 'restart race button'. They just made it slightly easier to swallow it, nudging you to accept grinding. WE SHOULD NOT ACCEPT THIS. There's no "it's better than nothing" here.

We waited 5 years for this release..... and it's not even a finished game.

My purpose isn't to start another thread that's just complaining about what I don't like. My purpose is to direct PD's attention to the fact that it's hard-core fans will simply not take this. As far as I'm concerned, GT5 is not what I'd expect from Kaz, OR PD. If you call yourself a hard-core fan, and would like to see the PD that we know and love, speak out! They read this, and so you can make a difference here.

For example: I WILL NOT PRE-ORDER GT6 WHEN IT'S ANNOUNCED. I WILL WAIT FOR THE REVIEW, AND THEN DECIDE.

I never had this kind of cynicism toward PD and the GT series. But now because of GT5, I do.... and guess what?? If someone else comes out with a comprehensive game that's not half-effort...... I may just buy that instead. I don't like being jerked around after being a loyal fan and customer since '97.

Don't just take it because you've been starving for 5 years and they just threw you a saltine cracker..... demand the feast they promised.

Most of what your saying I agree. With the exception of being able to restart after finishing a race. If I am not mistaking, all GTs were like this. Yes the grinding in GT5 isn't cool but what can we do until they add more content. I was/am just as pissed as you. I even stopped playing the week after release. I was like wtf, where are the tracks/event. Its not what I expected compared to GT4 but it looks like they are trying to incorporate alot now. I think Sony is displeased with the fans comments and reaction to the game that Kaz had to eat his words and fix the game. Kaz stated that everything he wanted in the game will ship with it. Well we all know now that was a lie. Before GT6 comes out, they better add all they can to get fans attention. Forza is due to hit this time next year and GT5 will be in trouble without help.

I am with you as far as GT6. I won't preorder it either until I see reviews and read thru comments such as ones on this board.

No. Simple as that.

"oh my god! You can restart a race just after you finished it! The horror!"

This is as nonsensical as it gets.

I care about the future of the GT series, and I will use this thread to remind you that you're spouting a large bunch of nonsense. Anyone that doesn't see how GT5 is a LARGE improvement over it's predecessors simply lacks a functioning brain and is completely blinded by illogical nostalgia.

I don't know about huge improvements. Have you played all the other GTs up til GT5. Other than graphic and physics, I don't see the improvements. Most things are just done differently. So differently that PD has pissed people off. There are some pros to GT5 but unfortunately when it shipped, the cons outweighed it. Looks like they are at least trying to balance it out. As far as the insult you made to every one, I bet your not the sharpest tool in the shed either. You lack respect for others opinions and respect for yourself. I hope your not over 18. If so, I assume life has been rough for you so you try to belittle everyone else.

A true fan wouldnt make such a harsh claim over a game thats kept your entertained for 13 years. I mean I was only a kid when this game was released. Your just showing the lowest form of complaint and you wont win over any long time fans with this non sense. PD are showing that they are listening... thats what us fans care about. Your arguing the lonhetivity of grinding in the game, I personally think increasing credits helped ease this with the ability of buying almost all cars we love along the way.

Online is the future! 👍

Actually I beg to differ. A true fan knows what he had. What it should be. What it should take. Many are pissed, many are happy. I myself am not too thrilled what 5-6 years has gotten us. If your happy then so be it. If the game was great out the box, why so many updates. The game needs to be fixed and they are now seeing this. Online may be the future but they have to cater to those that don't have access as well or people that don't want to play online period. I have internet but I am not much of a multiplayer kind of guy. With all the updates, I fell sorry for the people that don't have internet. They are screwed. They either have to find an internet source, get internet, or buy a newer updated disk when available.

At least today it is possible for games to be patched and added to. If we had this on the PS2 I would agree with you. But today there can be patches to iron out issues with games long into their life cycle.
No game is ever perfect on release, and in this day and age where online features are bigger than ever, its impossible for any developer to totally foresee everything that can happen in their game, and what people want to do with it. I can't think of a game that was released and didn't need a patch at some point in its life, whether it got one or not.

I'm going to go back to your original post here, forgive me.
The restart race feature is great, I used to love doing the same race over and over again in the older GT games, and do now. You know those times when you get overtaken on the finish line? or screw up on the last lap? Perhaps you are trying to see how fast you can complete the race in that car?
More to the point, I do remember grinding in older GT games, especially the endurance races, and it was part of the game. The annoying part about grinding now is that you are forced to grind for a level. It feels so artificial compared to grinding for cash or a prize car. The biggest mistake being a race that unlocks at 23, and the car for it at 24, but this has been covered in many a discussion before.

As for GT shifting to marketing hype. Well, I don't know about this one. I've sen some TV adverts, Obviously exposure on the internet will have increased since even GT4. But I've only started seeing TV ads since the release of the game.

I don't understand why you titled the thread like this. This is not a matter of development philosophy or casual vs hardcore. Grinding is grinding, and nobody, 'casual' or 'hardcore', likes that. So far, this thread has only been about the grinding aspect of GT5.

While I'm not nearly as discontent as the OP, I truly expected several improvements in GT5 which were not made . . .

Career Progression is not compelling.
AI still remains stale and without personality.
The credit "economy" requires grinding (although less so with the addition of the seasonal events)

We have other threads that cover this, ad nauseum. While there may be valid points brought up in some posts in here, the bickering kills it. Take it to the "Disappointed" thread.
