Summer wheels back on. That means my black rims are back.

Finally ended the "fun second car" hunt yesterday with this lovely '97 Acura Integra GS (no VTEC, womp womp). It's pretty much stock, with the below items my primary concerns:
  • Leaky fuel tank; this will likely need a full replacement, and some other odds and ends directly connected to it like the filler neck and straps
  • Crusty brake lines; not something needed immediately but for my own peace of mind I'd rather get it done before the lines decide to pop
  • Front wheel speed sensor; ABS light is on, and the diag code is pointing to the driver's front sensor not communicating properly
  • Previous owner mods to undo; fart can exhaust, cheap LED underglow strips + related wiring, blue cam cover

Aside from the maintenance items I'm mostly working through the registration/insurance rigamarole before I take it out to learn stick this summer. Also made the first step in rectifying the exhaust situation already, though I think I'll still need some resonators to bring out the dulcet tones of the B18.

Introducing the world's rattiest Mugen Twin Loop! Now without the attachment flange and genuine road rash.

Sunday was a bit eventful!
Went over to the local auto parts store and discovered this ride one of the employees uses to get to work. Maybe something I can finally beat in a drag race?

After stopping at the auto parts store I continued to cruise on some rural roads. I came across a guy driving his ‘67 Plymouth Fury II just about to turn down his gravel driveway. He saw me in the oncoming lane and waved me down. I followed him down his driveway and we talked for probably an hour. Fellow was super friendly and enthusiastic. He proceeded to show me his garage in which he could hardly contain his excitement. He told me he had a VW Transporter as well, a 1973 T2 Westfalia Camper. He dragged it out just so we can have side by side photos of the two.

Haven't been on this forum in over 10 years, but managed to log back in and have been scrolling around looking through for nostalgia's sake. Still have the same car as I did back then though. Still alive and kicking. Also not sure why but I used to make all my posts in blue text. Don't think it's the same blue though but it's been 11 years lol.

Hi guys

I know I only posted a month or two ago but I’ve just got back from my best Ring trip so far. Lots to sort to make it right but the basics are there, it’s quick! And too loud as it turned out, we got banned for noise on the first full day.. but what a lap it was

Can’t wait to get a few bits of setup sorted and get it on the track in the UK…

Met up with some Aston friends and went round together, taking brünnchen together with thousands watching from the carfreitag crowd, valves open is not something I’ll forget any time soon!

I got a new to me ride last week: a 2014 Ford Tremor FX4. I had it delivered from close to 900 miles away, sight unseen.
I learned a lot driving and working on the gray STX model over the last six years and am confident I can handle anything either of them throw at me. One thing the Tremor has in common with a Porsche is that the tires are wider than a dinner plate.
Both of these trucks run well and punch over 400 horsepower. The STX has a Coyote engine and both better low end torque and a higher red line than the Tremor does. It's the sleeper of the two. The Tremor has consistent torque through the RPM range with its 3.5 twin turbo V6. I can tell that not a lot of thought was put into designing some things specifically for it...the console, for example, has AC vents that discharge into the back wall.
The Tremor gets better gas mileage but fuel for the STX is much cheaper and the tank is 30% bigger, so it's a wash. (15 mpg on 26 gallons of 91 vs 11 mpg on 36 gallons of E85).
Yes Gran Turismo had something to do with my decision to buy them both. I took out a loan for the STX on 2019 and worked through the pandemic to pay it off. It was the most expensive vehicle I looked at when my Explorer finally died. It's an honor to drive something like that. I paid cash for the Tremor and actually feel a bit uncomfortable driving it; everyone wants to race! I'm gonna be 50 this year and while I will push them both, I've no desire to risk wadding up a good truck over something stupid.
The other rides we have are: A 2010 F150, a '10 Taurus, an '03 SuperCrew, and a handful of nimed and scooters both electric and standard. The last photo is my '05 Schwinn S-40 with a Swytch e bike conversion. I don't ride out of necessity, I ride because I enjoy it.

Nice to see a Tremor on here. I thought they were so neat ever since I first read about them in car magazines, but was saddened to find how rare they ended up being. I've been lucky enough to have spotted a few on the road over the years. They offered a nice contrast to the off-road oriented trucks that have taken off since then. Definitely a future classic.

I thought they were all two wheel drive. I only recently learned otherwise. I also learned what I have is the second generation, the first was made around the turn of the century and based on the Ranger. It's kinda like the Expedition...the first Gen there was built for 1995 and they're tiny.
The Tremor I have is definitely all there. It may not be crazy fast but it has that sports car vibe to it.
There are probably about a dozen for sale at any given time running about 25K. The catch is you'll have to travel for one or have it shipped.
Even the gray truck there isn't very common. That one has every option package offered on the STX that year, including four wheel drive, which a I rarely see on those prior to 2015.

New daily! Sold the 2023 Corolla and got me a 2025 Camry SE Hybrid AWD. The Corolla was an adequate daily driver, but power and torque was an issue when the electric motors were not helping. The detuned 1.8 made 98hp.

Now a combined 232hp makes the Camry more enjoyable. Got the windows tinted and the front end PPFed. Pretty happy with it on my first week of ownership, other than having the windshield smashed with a rock already...

Camry gets you waiting 6 months in Canada, as it's built in the US and Toyota preffers selling cars in USD at a discount instead of selling them in CAD full price. CAD is worth nothing now, thanks to 10 years of bad politics.

Looks good! I would love to be allowed to have the front-side windows tinted.

I'm not allowed, but generally you get away with it when it's on a car that is not very flashy. With my Z06, I lower the windows when passing by a cop. Some cops will still stop you and ask you to roll your windows up to check though. It happened to me 2 times when I was younger...

A LOT of money later ...

It's ALIVE... it's ALIIIVEEE ...

My 320si, fairly fresh from 14 months of major engine repair...

Damn, I've just read about this on another site as I've seen an example for £2100 that's had a new chain and fresh MoT and the mad side of me is thinking of getting it to be my daily. I'm crazy if I go ahead with it, right?

Mine, or in general?

If there's no evidence of it having suitable preventative maintenance on the bores, yes.

If there is evidence, also yes.

Go into it knowing that there's a 50% chance that by the following week you'll have an E90 to scrap and £2k less in your pocket, and you'll be fine.

If it does last, it's a fun, but underpowered, lightish, RWD, 6MT saloon....

... and if that's what you want, buy a 330i instead, do it.

I do love mine though.

Given the 14 month timeframe, I believe it was your post on another site.

I've woken up with a sensible mind and it's not something I can risk with the need to get to work and back each day over 60 miles.

The Polo had a vehicle inspection this morning. All good, although they suspected that there might be a small wheel alignment issue in the front based on how the tyres were worn. They also recommended new tyres, since these ones are the originals from 2015.

(Fun fact: I designed the timber frame construction for the building. So while they inspected the car, I inspected the beams and columns.)
