One of the last pics I'll take of it before it goes.

In a way, I'm sorry I bought it as it's just far too inept at handling sub-par road surfaces, especially as I traded in a Citroen Cactus that was all paid off and could soak up the worst of British roads.

Sad to see it go!

Quite a sorry end for something my heart wanted so badly, but I never can truly exploit it, because the road surfaces on my commute are so abysmal, and the compliance needed just isn't there. For every time the exhaust made me grin, the next crash through a pothole I missed, or generally mislaid bit of tarmac, would remind me of how unsettled it could be.

Having had a ZC32S Swift Sport a few cars back, it never felt like it could hold a candle to that car on a typical British road, even with the extra power and turbo torque.

After seven and a half years of ownership of my beloved BMW, I came to a point where the cars’ need for further maintenance and new parts exceeded my love for it. I couldn’t justify the upkeep and the money pit that would have followed. Over the years I made sure that it passed every inspection without any faults and needing a re-inspection, but as a result that bill kept growing.

Loved it and created some great memories with it, but it was time to move on.

This is my car, a 2016 Opel Astra K 1.4T 150hp. It has almost 130,000km. The truth is that I’m very happy with the car. He has only passed through the workshop for revisions and wheel changes. It isn’t the most sporty, nor exciting, but it’s comfortable to travel on the highway. It’s quite quiet for the segment.

And this is my partner's car. A 2023 SEAT Ibiza FR 1.5 TSI 150CV DSG7. It has almost 60,000km. The car is going very well, its quite sporty than my Opel, much more agile, a firmer suspension, although it isn’t uncomfortable on long trips. On winding roads it's much more fun to drive than my car. It consumes quite little for the power it has (1l/100km less than the Opel), about 5.5l/100km. It accelerates a lot and the gearbox is super fast and responds very well, although on the road of curves it’s better to take it in Sport mode, so that it accelerates the gears better and does not look for "efficiency".

It's not a GTI, but it's almost.

And the black car is a 1986 Seat Ibiza MK1, from my in-laws. The first and last Ibiza (presumably).

Looks like Scapes. Great photography 👍🏻

A night sky full of stars or a black Polo sprinkled with snowflakes?

Is that Andromeda or your face? :D

After 8 years it was time to replace my 1-series. Really loved it and drove more than 200.000 km's! It never let me down, just never, drove through much of Europe, drove on the Ring a coupe of times, just a lot of memories, but with a wife and kid we needed a bigger car. I looked for a 3-series, but things escalated and bought a 5-series :embarrassed::crazy:

It's been a while, but I finally got my wagon project through emissions a few weeks ago. Been enjoying finally driving a project I've been working on since just before the pandemic hit, and collecting parts for for nearly a decade before that...

Last photo I took of the Abarth before I sold it yesterday. So now I just have the Model 3, and we also have a Kuga.

Next time I get a fun car, I'm thinking of an Alfa 156 with the Busso. Not had an Alfa before and I love how that engine looks.

I will write some stuff about it in my car thread later but this is really ”my baby”, I bought it way back in 2007 and I love it dearly. It is probably the car that would hurt me the most if I ever had to sell it, it was my first Porsche and I have so many good memories with this car.

Is that an imported Commodore or a VXR8?

Mega car either way.

One of my aero covers developed a rattle, which I could hear with a window down and then it made me realise that it was always making that noise, and must have sounded cheap and nasty. So they're off now and I put some caps from Amazon on it. Wish I had 19s now, but they're lovely wheels regardless.

My next change will be to get the shoddy plate frames in the bin and put fresh plates on it front and rear. The back one rattles as well. 🙄

They are all imported HSV Commodores.
Made in Victoria, Australia by HSV

Vauxhall imported around 300 of them to the UK and re badged them. They all have HSV Build plates. 👍

Adelaide and Victoria. ;)

They started life in Adelaide at the Holden Elizabeth plant where they use the same assembly line as Commodores (with different specs for the chassis etc.), then they're further modified/built by HSV in Victoria.

I always joke about how mine gets lost at it's place of birth. Trouble is, the sat/nav has got me lost in Elizabeth.

Upgraded my old Focus last week to something I have wanted for a really really long time.

Couldn't be any more in love with it.
It's come with some VERY tinted rears which I'm not huge on functionally (but it fits the look to be honest) and a bit on the front lights, but aside from that and a ghost immobliser also fitted by the previous owner - it's completely stock with a great service history, which is harder to come by than I'd have hoped for!

Couple things need sorting on it but I haggled the dealer into fixing them as part of the asking price, the 'big' one is that the inner mirror trim on the passenger side is cracked so the mirror is slightly out of place, but it functions perfectly fine and isn't much of a big deal to live with whilst they wait for the part to come in.

Such a fun car to drive. Haven't had much opportunity to stretch its legs yet but its getting put on some Michelins next Saturday and then I'll feel a lot more confident to see what it can really do.

Finally got myself a new car last Friday after years of dailying wifeys Skyline and Hilux.

Its a 2017 Nissan Note Nismo. Very quick and awesome handling wee car, probably as quick or quicker than her Skyline (newer suspension technology, full time electric power/instant torque etc).
Its 3cly petrol engine only powers the electric motor, alongside the regenerative braking, so it does most of the braking for me unless i need to stop quicker.

Its a lot tidier than i was expecting though, so scared parking it in NZ's stupid narrow carparks.

More info here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/skylineobsessions-drivable-things.417019/

Looks like a minivan in certain photo angles, but its probably Civic Type R size.

Nismo badging everywhere too. Foot mats, centre console, bucket seats, dashboard etc etc.

Awesome wee car, very happy with it so far. Filling the fuel tank up for the first time soon, so good chance to see what it can do around town

Very cool old school seats. They’re like FX-16 and French hot hatch seats.

Over the winter the engine for the Transporter was rebuilt. The case that it was running prior was suffering from metal fatigue (1967-70 VW H-code cases or notorious for this).
I found an original factory replacement case that was in good condition to use. While I was at it, I decided to go for a “big bore” 1641cc kit with 87mm pistons upgrading from the stock 1500cc displacement. I swapped everything over from the previous case. Had to play around with some different jet sizes since I was running the same carburetor as before (Solex 30 PICT 3) to compensate for the larger displacement.
Got it all back together over the weekend along with a new clutch. With some fine timing and carb adjustments it’s now running nice and cool at highway speeds! (55-60mph). Drove it about 200 miles already and couldn't be happier. It just purrs with that Abarth muffler.
