When you go to garage and choose a car within the limits of the PP!
When you go to settings, the PP has now changed and it is not offset it seems to be random!

Tires were removed from being a calculated factor of performance points in an update during December 2010, so PP would be off on cars that haven't been used since that update.

When they established the PP system, tires selection was part of it (it was in the PP equation)....but not long after they removed it....so if you didn't pick that car for a long time, chances are good that it shows the PP from that period (tires selection in PP equation)....now if you go on that car the PP will be updated....

The PP system was introduced in the Update : v1.06 Febuary 18th ...If you bought the car before V1.07 and didn't used the car since....PP will be off.

Update V 1.07 (1 week after update V 1.06)
[Fixed Issues]
- Performance points (PP), which is an index of a car’s overall performance, is now calculated regardless of your tire selection. You can now set performance point restrictions and tire restrictions separately when you race in a lounge.
I quote myself lol!

So this is an example of lazy programming!!

thanks for the info guys

GT4 Fail Music Time! :

GT3 Fail (lazy programming = fail x 2):

EDIT: I think PD should bring back one of these songs for GT6 when you fail. GT3 very memorable and GT4 mocks you for failing :sly:👍

Watching the GT4 clip , I realised I forgot about Seattle City track ( I think a licence test using the GT-40 in GT2 was done on it ) . I use to love that track , with the sharp turns and jumps!

Lazy programming = fail

What "lazy" programming? Sure, they probably should have put a check in the game that went through every car in your garage and re-calculated its PP value when you updated the game, but that process might have taken a while with a large garage, pissed someone off (menu hang?), who then inevitably resets his console, corrupts the game data and is left at square one...

It is a royal pain to have to click on a car and see if the PP is still the same, probably even more so online, but I think it's not really a case of laziness so much as it is convenience and "safety". Really, it's because of attention to the likely usage patterns and optimal data structuring so that the list generation for the garage view is faster, which has meant that this issue exists in the first place. I.e. the data is only updated when the car is changed or viewed.

Hence, you might even say it's due to over-exuberant programming in the name of performance. But maybe they should have added the option to refresh the data, much as with the thumbnails.

Is this DLC cars cause the new beetle was on 453 now its on 508,
And it also go's up on two wheels while racing online when it used to be solid at cornering.

I doubt anyone at PD put that much thought into it. Have you seen how long the bug thread is ?

Having a large garage is no reason for being mad if something takes too long. Its just goes with the territory. After my semi-annual corrupt data experiences, I have learned to just hit "update all thumbnails" and then go to bed. Turn it off in the morning, because everything in this game takes forever.

But that doesn't update the PP figures, does it? I was just being facaetious about the hypothetical roid-/nerd-rager. I've only had corruption once, and it was "my fault" because I didn't know the XMB's "quit game" option interrupts the game's hard-drive activities... Actually, I blame Sony.

Games today are incredibly complex pieces of software; there will be bugs; there would be a hell of a lot more if someone didn't put any thought into it. The existence of bugs does not point to lazy programmers; in a lot of cases, it might actually point to overworked programmers. We should probably target the cause of that, rather than vilify the mere minions.
Besides, that the game only updates PP numbers when the car is viewed or modified is fact; there is an obvious speed benefit to this, which doesn't take much "thought" to comprehend. To use the Microsoft parlance, I believe this incorrect PP behaviour is more a feature than a bug. :sly:

That said, there are definitely a few Friday afternoon / Monday morning eyebrow-raisers in GT5. So there is in any game these days; it just goes with the territory, unfortunately. At least updating is easy(ish) now.

They've corrected the weight of the Beetle in an update which was too high when released so therefor the amount of PP logically rises (lower weight) and thus the driving characteristics too.
