But the team was put together in 4 months, with an Unexperianced driver and team..

Come to think of which Ide did get a penalty for his crew not clearing the grid, so whos to say it wasn't the pit crews fault they positioned themselves wrong and Ide got it right..

Just a theory

I was in a ruyby tournament so I missed the race and at a BBQ so I missed qual'.

Does anyone know where I can get highlights of the race?

Ide went way over the line. I dunno, I just laughed. That really sucks for the crew, though. I wish SAR the best luck through the season. Hopefully, nobody will get injured. Sato was mentioned and in camera shot on the pre-race grid. They didn't show him during the race AT ALL though. I really wanted to see how sarzcarz managed their race.

I'm buying a Rosberg shirt as soon as I can get one in my size, btw. I've come to respect him a lot. Massa should keep it together at the next race. He he would've held Alonso, mikey would've taken the checkered flag.

Massa did not start the race well at all. He just did not do a good job of holding off Alonso at all. Then he had the unfortunate spin and it just went downhill from there. By what one of the SPEED announcers said, it looked like Massa had too much rear bias to the brakes and the back end just let him go in circles. It didn't help then that the Ferrari pit crew cost Massa even more times with the air guns. All in all, not a good race for Massa. He will need to pull it together for Ferrari to have a chance in the constructor.

Scott Speed wasn't too bad out there for a first timer, methinks. Lasted the distance, laid down some okay passes, finished above his qualifying position, was only one lap down at the end...definately a greenhorn, but he could easily improve with time and experience.

GO KIMI. Damn near a repeat of last year at Suzuka. The Finn can still fly, gorram it. 👍 Maybe this will be the year he finally goes too fast for his bad luck to catch. Just maybe. :)

Alonso vs. Schumi...that felt like Imola again for a bit. I agree with those who say that Schumacher's still got the drive in him for at least one more serious run at the championship. Guys with no motivation don't take pole position and finish on the podium...it just doesn't happen, folks.

Super Aguri...or, as the SPEED commentators referred to them, the "Super Friends", is going to be a farce. A farce that I PRAY turns out to be more or less harmless to the serious drivers on the track. As much as I'd like to see serious competition from Japan in F1...this ain't it.

A) Rugby, RUGBY!?!? This is formula 1 man! You shouldn't be wrestling other men down in white powder on a GP weekend!

B) Highlights are on ITV 1 at 12:10am.

Great race, and a great, well-earned victory to all who made it to the podium.

It really looks like this year, Kimi, MS and Alonso are going to be great competitors this season. That means excellent racing for our future. It's a bit stale when only two, or one, racer/s are going for the championship.

MS is by no means washed up. He's going to be tough to deal with. I agree, his team mate is a bit over rated, and I see him as an equal to Fisi, which isn't exactly a compliment.

Amazing Alonso escaped Masa's screw-up. He's really lucky. Congrats to he, and the team who got him the victory.

It's absolutely a shame Alonso is going to McLaren next season. They still seem to not have their act together. But, he wanted the money, and he'll get it.

Awesome race. The V8s, plus soft tyres is an awesome formula for passing. You could still see the problems created by dirty air, but the extra time on the straights seemed to make up for it.

Alonso and Michael both had amazing drives—it really was a fair driver-on-driver race. It holds a lot of promise for the rest of the season.

Kimi did so well to recover from his qualifying accident. But it begs the question, what the hell was Montoya doing? He only finished 4 seconds ahead of Mark Webber for crying-out-loud!

The Massa incident was scary, Alonso showed his worth, avoiding the accident like he did.

Williams look in good shape, and Nico was amazing. I can’t wait to see what he can do if he has a clean race. And I can really see him showing Webber a thing or two.

Good race, there’s a lot of promise for the rest of the season.

After failing to keep Alonso behind him at the start, I bet the Ferrari camp decided to change Massa's brake bias from the pits without him knowing :sly: He'll learn quickly what it means to be Michael's teammate :)

Edit: Apparently the Tifosi "did not approve" of this post. The truth hurts, doesn't it?

I loved that race, awesome start to the season. I was really impressed by Rosberg, he showed great form. I was impressed by Webber's consistancy. I was really impressed by Kimi's fight from the back of the grid and REALLY impressed by the BMW grenade. That was a hell of a fireball.

Great racing up the front too.

A great start to the season, lets hope it continues.

On a side note, thanks to ITV being able to broadcast team radio transmissions, us lucky UK viewers got an insight into Fisi's mood as he entered the pits.

It was funny listening to the commentators trying to move on from that. :p

I really liked the race, the whole weekend actually. But i have doubts about the performance of Ferrari and Honda. Yes, they did well in Bahrain but don't forget. They have been the only ones that have been testing in Bahrain for a whole week while the other teams have not. That must have given them an edge over the rest of the field. I hope to be proven wrong and see them at the front of the grid in Sepang but somehow i have my doubts.
Great drive from Kimi and Rosberg by the way. Webber and Montoya had the wrong strategy for this race hence their performance or lack thereof.

I'm not sure when people will learn....YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR WHAT A PISSED OFF DRIVER IS GOING TO SAY! More often than not, it's loaded with expletives, especially when the driver is told that his car is crippled.

A few years ago at Le Mans, somebody was punted off the track on the run down to Indanapolis corner. The SPEED crew foolishly chased him down and asked what happened. "That guy is a ****ing ****!" were the first words out of his mouth. He probably should have known better, seeing as how it was a TV interview, but still, unhappy drivers are not family friendly.

 I wasn't paying much attention when Fisi had his outburst...
Needless to say, It soon did

"Did he just say what I thought he said O_o"

What do you expect the driver to say when something with the car has gone wrong or they were just punted off the track by another driver?

"Oh gee, fellas, that sure wasn't too good. Maybe next time it won't happen."

"That sure will be swell when it doesn't happen next time. Well I guess we will have to get the rest of the field next race."

:dunce: I mean seriously . . .

Something along the lines of what Fisi said is to be expected.

Yes, it definately is, which is why tapping the radio is a REALLY bad idea, especially when it is obvious that the driver is miffed. The driver has no responsibility for keeping foul language off the air waves; that's the network's job. They need to show better judgement about when to broadcast driver/pit lane chatter. After a race win, sure...that gave us the priceless moment of Fernando Alonso covering Queen. After a driver is blocked in qualifying, after he loses a wheel on track, or after he's been told that his car is crapping out...not a good idea.

I must've missed Alonso covering Queen at the end of the race. A definite screw up on the network by tapping the radio at that time.

Blake you're Australian. Did you know Qualifying was shown on TEN delayed. I missed it and was kicking myself.
Yes, I watched it on Live Timing and later on TV.

Although, sometimes you can’t plan these things. A few years ago at the Gold Coast Champcar race, they were listening to Paul Tracy’s radio during a safety car period, then, all of a sudden—“I’ve lost my ****ing clutch!”

I'm still angry that I missed qualifying on TV though. Normally TEN doesn't show qualifying unless it's the Australia GP.

Off that topic I'm worried about Rosberg and Kimi. I'm worried that everyone will have such high expectations of Rosberg that he will crash and burn, which is the worst thing that could happen to him. I'm also worried that he and Kimi who pushed hard during the race may have overdone their engines. With another hot track like Malaysia coming up I'm worried those 2 may have troubles, especially Kimi as he has to set up his car without the use of a third driver.

Kimi has been with McLaren for years. It is very unlikely that they’ll have to make any major setup changes from what they have out of the box.

I don't see McLaren and Kimi having any problems at all with setup. Kimi has been with McLaren long enough and had enough races at Malaysia to pretty much know what the setup will be even before the race. There will probably be some minor adjustments to the car, but nothing major.

I think Rosberg will be able to put a similar performance in at Malaysia as he did in this race. I also really doubt the Cosworth powerplant will have any troubles at all at Malaysia. Cosworth make a great V8 and I expect it to be good the entire season. I think the more interesting thing to watch now is how well Rosberg does in comparison to his teammate Mark Webber. I have never really been all that impressed with Webber and Nico make end up outperforming Webber if he can continue the pace he had at Bahrain.

I’d be interested in that, too. Malaysia is one of Marks best tracks (Qualifying 2nd in 2003, almost getting a podium last year). So if Nico beats Mark here, he won’t have a good chance anywhere else.

The worst thing we can do is put the tag of "future champion" on Nicos shoulders at the moment. I was impressed at his drive but I did like Marks drive, smart and consistent. Nico was on a different strategy and fought well, but I'm just very worried Nico will become another one of those drivers who has a great career in the lower formula and then crashes and burns in F1.

Actually at the time, Martin Brundle said how uncharacteristic that was of F1 drivers. He said that someone like Kimi, MS or Alonso would never talk like that to their mechanics. It wont solve the problem, or help him go faster. He said he was quite dissapointed in Fisi.

Funny, he never mentioned Montoya.
