Its so lame to hear people say, "...you'd get your ass kicked..." I hate hearing how people could kick other people's asses over the internet.
Anyways, this is way out of hand. I just dont see why everyone is upset over the word "nerd." :indiff:

you are missing the point. It doesnt matter what word is used. It just that because someone takes advantage of there PSP they have to be insulted.

No it's because it's nerdery, not because someone takes advantage of anything.

If I were to modify my X box, that would be a nerdy action, but I would just be "Taking advantage of product availibility"

As for The_Con, you don 't know me all you know is a nickname and some posts. Calling ANYONE a idiot based on a text on a screen; not knowing what the intent of the person is, IS a stupid thing to do. So do me a favor, go argue with someone about how difficult Devil May Cry is, or about how "developers" get the blame or whatever it is you like ranting about.

EVERYTHING

Remind me not to post in the "Playstation" ANYTHING section of this board again. It's filled with nerds who take forums to seriously, I've never seen ANYONE take offence to being called a nerd like this group of people. Holy crap...
If someone called me a Nerd i'd laugh at them and say "You know it!" or something...Not just go "MY sCHOOL WOULD KICK YOUR ASS"

edit:

Freakin nerds these days, I swear

No...People who get a PSP to play PSP Games are fine, they are normal, and hell even MP3's why not..but when you get one to be a personal media center, and burn movies for it, and go out and buy the movies for it..that is what makes you the nerd..

Yeah ok. Make less and less sense.

-stands by what he says your passionate and moving "yeah ok" will not change the readings on the Nerdometer..
Feel free to take the nerd test if you're in denial..
http://www.innergeek.us/

1) Even a low score on that test will still be ranked as "Geek".. it simply devides it into further "ranks" of Geek.

2) There's a difference between a nerd and a geek.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Guys guys guys.... :nervous: This argument is starting to get a bit too far. It could get locked up. Some of you should be feeling ashamed of yourselves!!! We got other people viewing this thread and probably looking down on some of you. quit the name calling and start compromising with one another. :O

P.S. --------------------> Make Love, Not War?? Please? :odd:

I agree with Mclaren'sAngel. The subject is price, so either continue to argue on pms or make peace and continue with the subject of the PS3's price, shall we?

Happens all the time, I don't see the point even if I do get caught up sometimes .

It should be £300-£400 over here, $399 is under £300 but we always pay more over here so I think £350 maybe.

Between £300 and £400 in the UK and $300 and $400 in the US? It's a lot of money...and will probably mean that it won't fly off the shelves in the first few months.
Then again perhaps it will if people really desire it.
But what of the 360? What will its price be? £300? £250? A lower price and earlier release may make a big difference. Is there a chance that Sony will be pricing themselves out of the running?

I was reading an artile today that the XB360 COULD be released for £200, it's estimated US price is around the equivelent of £160 but it's more likely to cost us £250 because it will still be cheaper than the PS3 and they won't make as big a loss per console. I don't see Sony being beaten by the XB360 TBH, the have a much larger fanbase and the PS3 is currently getting the better media attention which will count for a lot.

i got a 5.9176. I'm a poser.

I did not know geeks and nerds were the exact same thing.

Dreamcast was a perfect $199, I dont think MS would sell it that cheap even if they could.

edit:

There is always that chance but Microsoft would need devine intervention for sony to fall flat with a $100 more price. If you guys didnt know it already the built in ethernet router hub thingy was removed to save on cost. Tyhis was anounce recently and can have an impact on the final price. The Hardware isnt even done so the final price could end up less than $399.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Yay the war have stopped! :O 👍

Back on TOPIC! :O

I agree that the fanbase for the PS3 is very big, so the system will get sold out on day 1. People can always expect the PS3 to have numerous amounts of games made for everyone.

It is also good to hear that Sony took out the ethernet router to put the cost of the PS3 lower. We may even get a surprised if Sony releases the PS3 at the same price of the Xbox 360. :O

Nothings actually been changed, the PS3 never have an Ethenet router, what it has is 3 Gigabit Ethernet ports that form a switching /HUB which is less complicated than a router which people assumed the 3 ports were. Things are looking good for Blue-Ray too, it currently has more support than HD DVD.

LaBounti

Yes, he's sure. They didn't "take out" anything, they simply said it wouldn't have router functionality. It never had router functionality to begin with, therefore nothing was removed.

If you believe otherwise, show me a link from before the announcement that says PS3 was going to be a router. You won't be able to find one, because it doesn't exist.

I've read some really stupid arguments about how Sony is "stripping" the PS3... people can be really stupid sometimes. It's like taking out the toaster, the ice maker, or the toenail clipper... it never had it to begin with.

rickjames
so theirs gonna be online funcion?
Yeah, ofcourse. It still has the three Gigabit ethernet adapters, it's just not three adapters set as a HUB. And Jedi is spot on, any journalists or people that assumed it had the HUB in the first place only assumed it did. Sony never said it did have it, but recently they announced that it didn't and they haven't changed the machine or gone back on themselves in any way.

Actually it was originally planned the the three gigabit ethernet ports be one unit and have router capabilities making your PS3 your internet hub, but that was scrapped, because it's cheaper to include three ports that standalone from eachother, than three ports that work as a router. That alone can drop the price $50 bucks.

From what I gather, it's looking more and more like PS3 will launch at $350.

Sony didn't say that at the E3 and a couple of days ago they said they never planned to have the three ports used as a router and that they've changed nothing about the PS3. I've read pages with speculation and assumptions but the pages I've read with quotes from Sony and E3 show they never said the PS3 would have a router, just the three ethernet ports.

Okay L4S, here you go :) Just remember, I never make assumptions if I don't provide proof or good cause.

Router functions dropped from PS3 spec

11/07/2005

But Sony many have other plans for its bank of Gigabit Ethernet ports

The PlayStation 3 will no longer act as a home network router, according to Sony Computer Entertainment boss Ken Kutaragi, who has revealed that the functionality has been dropped because it would have been too expensive.

Speaking with Japanese publication Nikkei Electronics, Kutaragi said that the original specification for the PS3 would have allowed the system's three Gigabit Ethernet ports to be used as a home router.

However, this functionality has now been dropped since it would have made the console cost too much to manufactor, he admitted - and Sony now expects that users will continue to use their existing router hardware, which is becoming more commonplace in households with broadband internet connections.

Whether that means the bank of network ports on the back of the box has actually been reduced to a single port is not clear, however, as the company has previously hinted that it has other plans in mind for the multiple network ports.

The news that the system was intended for use as a router or hub was first revealed at E3, when Sony's Phil Harrison told GamesIndustry.biz that "it can be a hub, rather than just being a terminal at the end of a network."

"Also, we want to be able to have a Gigabit port for an IP camera," he revealed. "So one of the ports is an in, and two of them are through. It can be a server as well as a terminal."

And another article:

And another:

--------------------------------

All of these go to quote Phil Harrison, and also mention, but to not directly quote, Ken Kuturagi, saying it was intended to be there, but has been dropped.

So. With that said :) It wasn't going to be a useful feature anyway :)

$350 :) Hopefully.

Here in Europe we should consider ourselfes happy if the PS3 ends up costing less than €400.The taxes here are extreme, especially in Holland where i live.

Anyway,i will buy the PS3 at launch if it doesn't go over €450.I find that a bargin for what you get but for some reason the majority of people can't get that thru their heads.

The RSX alone would cost more than $500 if it was sold separatly.

Okay L4S, here you go :) Just remember, I never make assumptions if I don't provide proof or good cause.
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/632/632766p1.html read this, it says that the functionality was never included. They had the idea but dropped it and it never made it onto the console to become a function that was removed from it, the current spec of the PS3 is exactley the same as it was at E3. If you can prove this article wrong then I'll hand it to you, I know you don't make assumptions without evidence but I think theres been some mis-interpretaions of info being spread in the media regarding this matter.
