In agreement with Wardez, I thought it would be best to have the car and track lists in seperate threads, since it tends to get overlooked in the OP of the massive main pCARS thread. Me or the mods will try to keep it updated.

I think you got it pretty much correct, so no help needed. Only things I would change is that the BTCC and DTM could be separated into classic and modern. And "Pro car" should be Group 5, but otherwise: 👍
 
Oh my! I just realized that I forgot to put in something that SMS secured a while ago, after the initial licensing deal with Ruf: They are allowed to make a fictional RGT-8 GT3, like iRacing and RRRE! :cheers:

Also maybe remove the 'physics finished, audio finished' bit from Beta 2 cars (and all sections really), the dev status used in those categories ended up being for art and the physics and audio is not finished on all of those cars.

Just so no one is misinformed (i.e. provided ammunition for incorrect arguments) ;)

Not far off but Zonda R is not a GT1 car (It conforms to no racing regulations) and there is no such thing as GT5 Class, Ginetta Juniors is just a one make series.

iR version is from the Rt12R. Not sure about R3E. Not that it matters much. :P I kind of hope that SMS makes it from the RGT indeed, cause it has the 991 shell. :) (unlike Rt12)

No need to hope, it is confirmed already that the GT3 Ruf will be the RGT-8. :)
 
Possibly negative, maybe there's another one somewhere :P

Joking aside, they do what they can and then we decide as customers if it's enough to have some enjoyment with the car selection they've managed to get in.. simple. :)

Personally I don't understand your view (I think the list is marvelous - and it's not done yet either ;) ) but surely it's not needed either. Just don't think it's not that SMS wouldn't want all the cars you'd want in the game. There just are things that are possible and things that are not.

As often in life.. it's better to concentrate on the things you have/will get than to those that you don't.
 
In what sense? That there aren't more road cars like GT? This game was/is always about the racing machines, the road cars are secondary in terms of game structure.

Plus there is of course the budget issue, they just can't afford everything. Buy the game and make them some good money, you'll see even more licensed content in pCARS 2. :)

What is the game missing to you?

I'm passionate about Astons and Le Mans machines. And I'm very happy about the list because it shows how racing focused the game is shaping up to be. While PD spend time in modelling some uselles concept (VGTs and Red Bull), SMS went on about bring some very reallistic LMP1 cars to the game. This kind of focus is the main thing to me about PCars and the car list on it. This is what bring me to the hype, not the graphics.

Yeah, this game just isn't really going that route. Think of it like a newer, better Toca Race Driver series rather than GT/Forza/Enthusia type thing.
 
If you're the sort who likes roadcars in your sims (like me), maybe consider what exactly it is about roadcars you like. Depending on how you look at it, there's more here than just the cars that are strictly street legal:

...In addition to the roadcars there are quite a few historical racing cars, closer in nature to the sort of built-up roadcars we drive in games like GT/Forza. Less downforce, tires with lower limits that allow some sideways driving, and homologation models that share the same chassis and pretty much the same appearance as their street counterpart...I have nothing against that. The history factor also adds to the appeal.

Since that post, SMS have also added the Audis (A1 & R8) and the new Mustang GT. It's no Gran-Turismo-tier laundry list, but Slightly Mad are doing what they can.
