They model whichever wheels are on the main reference vehicle. The M3 GT also has some not so great rims because of that.

So, like I said... definitely not the wheel I would have modeled. I would have picked the vehicle with the wheels I would have wanted to model for reference.

Or just looked at pictures and modeled a wheel based off of that, like you said they do.

They can't be that picky though, if the best reference vehicle has certain wheels on then those are the ones that get modeled. I assume they want to make sure the model is authentic, the wheels may not be the only difference between different reference vehicles and they don't want mix and match. They may have said they'll model other wheels as well though, I've not really kept up with that sort of thing at the forum.

Is the car list in the OP really up to date? It seems very small. Also, there are A LOT of cars on the "not started yet" list.

I read they are trying for a March 2013 release, so the OP must be out of date. Is the March date still on?

Also upset there is no Mclaren representative like the F1 or any of it's configurations, LM, GTR, ect. Other than the Zondas, there's not much here I'm super excited about driving.

Still, more excited for this then Grid2, so there is that.

I don't care what they can or cannot be. You're telling me logical things I already comprehend.

My original post simply stated that if I had to pick the car, it would've been the one with the wheels in the car I posted the picture of. You explaining to me the process that SMS goes through to select a car and model it's features doesn't change that.

On a previous note: Really, of the three wheels that the M3 GT2 car is known to use, they picked the least-used and least-known design that (while interesting) is one of the least-racy wheels I've seen on any competitive Sports Racing/GT car to date.

Let's hope they do model up a few accurate alternate wheels for the cars.

I seriously doubt this game is coming out next month.

EDIT: And that's an understatement.

No I know and I totally agree with you, I was just saying that if they couldn't get enough references shots of the car you posted they would have used a different one with different wheels.

It is odd why they modeled an M3 GT2 with the wheels they did though, there are plenty of reference shots of the car with other, nicer wheels.

:( sad, seems like the game has been delayed many times...

It hasn't been delayed, there was never a solid release date to delay. There still isn't, just a rough target of Thanksgiving 2013.

As for car numbers there are currently 34 cars drivable in the game as of today, two currently WIP and 32 cars confirmed but not started modeling yet (That we know of, a few cars have appeared complete with no notice). It's likely some of them won't be finished in time for the first version of the game and instead will be added as DLC later once they are done.

Thanksgiving. Man. I'll just wait for news from a gaming site. This is going to fall off the radar by the time it gets released.

34 cars also makes me sad. I sure there will be more later but seems like there isn't much great news about the game right now.

Not really sure why you say that, it was only confirmed in development in October 2011, that would be just over two years if it was released around Thanksgiving. That is pretty normal for a videogame and certainly a lot less than a certain Japanese developer had us waiting.

As I say that is just right now, many more are waiting to be modeled and there will probably still be some more suprises like the Renault that was added just last week out of nowhere.

As DG_Silva says the current target is around 75 or more. They're still very much going for quality over quantity.

You know whats sad? Uninformed people declaring stuff as sad without any idea whats going on. You sound like a nagging spoiled kid thats only getting a R8 instead of a Lambo on xmas. Boo hoo! 👎

Is it me that didnt setup it well or we cant feel anything throught the wheel?
the more you turn the wheel harder it is, but i cant feel any bumps on the road or the weight transfer of the car, feel loose when you try to stay in straight line... i have to focus on the movement of the car on the screen to countersteer. Something just dont feel right and i probably didnt set it up correctly. :)

I recalibrated the wheel and found nothing, and all cars cannot steer more than 90 degree on the wheel, i dont have access to road cars so i dont know if its just related to race cars...

I had the exact same problem when I had my G25 about 6 months a go. Cars felt unstable in a straight line and trying to get out of a pit garage was a pain. You can at least mess around with the damper settings etc to help the with the straight line problem if you can't fix it. But now I'm on my T500 and everything's good.

75 cars in two years strikes me as about the same production rate as PD for GT5 with ~200 cars in 5 years. Nothing wrong with that.

You don't need a lot of cars to have a great game. For reference, see Ferrari Challenge/Supercar Challenge, GT Legends, GTR2, iRacing, and every F1 game since the dawn of time. Gran Turismo and Forza are anomalies.

I understand there's a lot of people just wanting to drive very many cars, but in the end (imo) you'll end up driving the same cars that you enjoy anyway. I might be a bad example but I'm sure I have not driven more than 50 cars in GT5. Possibly I have missed many jewels in there, but honestly, over 1000 begs the question how much time was spent on each car to get it just right.

You also have to considering the fact that PD had/has (a lot) more people on their staff than SMS.

And as far as the quantity goes for the amount of veichles in the final game, I couldn't care less. I find the car list great and diverse as it is now. That alone and the amount of tracks would probably keep me entertained for a long time. More so than GT5 or any other racing game ever will.

Ok, ill try to find a way to get around it, the wheel dont auto-center itself while running the car, but if its like that when the game release i dont think i will buy it, it feel really bad. :(

Project CARS Build 402 vs R3E Beta - BMW Z4 GT3 at Bathurst.

I wish they would put an annotation at the beginning of the video just to remind people that the sounds in pCARS are no where near finished, where as in RRRE, they are. Seeing so many uninformed comments about how pCARS sounds suck have gotten to me finally.

Whistle-blowing is good.
Hiding flaws with Alpha!!!!! is not.

If no comparison was made, then people would be ignorant. It goes both ways.

If I might add my two cents to the car list discussion, I'm all for a nice diverse group of cars. BUT, I would rather have say... A Gallardo, R8, and 911 Turbo than a Zonda, an M3, and a Golf if you get what I'm saying.

The fact they have the R18 is awesome, but I'd really like to race it against something on a similar level of performance. Spec R18 races don't sound very enticing to me.

I'm a much bigger fan of iRacing's car list than any other game. The Ford GT, McLaren MP4, Corvette C6R and Cadillac can all be matched up at least relatively evenly. And you also have some other toys to play around with if you'd like.

Just my two cents, don't want to start some war here.

We are getting RUF cars so the 911 is sorted.

As for the others. SMS is trying to link the cars we get into a series that could run with them not just adding random cars.

I'm not trying to hide flaws by sayings it's alpha. It's a fact that almost all of what will be in the final game sound wise has yet to be added in at the game's current stage.

Funny thing is, the R3E beta still sounds abit off so I easily disregard those puny youtube comments

That's what I find odd the most out of both wheel selections, when I google search M3 Group A and and M3 GT/GT2/GTE I get pictures of all kinds of M3's with wheels other than the ones they modeled. It's like they chose to find the less-used wheels to model (*doesn't really know*). The reason the E30's wheels are so strange to me is because, before seeing these screens, I'd never seen them on a Group A E30.

The wheels on the GT I've seen only once or twice, and no amount of googling will bring them up in a picture on the car. It's always the BBS and RAYS wheels.

Anyways. :sly:

Woo. Just entered my name into the record books setting the lap record at solitude. :D

This game is really coming on great. The developers really do listen to our suggestions. 👍
