Remember Steam background downloads builds on startup. It doesn't tell you it is downloading them.
It does, if Steam's downloading a build it'll say "1 item downloading" or "1 item downloaded" (if it's already finished downloading a build) at the bottom of the Steam window :)

Project CARS video in which I've applied some filters to have a tonality, lighting, lens effect and realistic sound, along with camera movements that mimic its position on the helmet. The lap is with the Formula A in Suzuka.

The camera is way too high for formula style driving games.
You actually need to move your head a little to look into corners to see past the steering wheel when you have it turned.

As you can see in the following video, Lewis' eyes are just looking over the top of the steering wheel when the wheels are straight.

The intention is that the camera looks like it is above the helmet. If I put much fisheye effect the shake wasn't noticeable and if focused below, didn't appear the image as real. At the end of the day, is a game. ;)

Now it makes sense. I thought you were going for a driver point of view. My bad.
In that case... job well done. I wish the real pCARS colors were more properly balanced already, but that doesn't happen until we at least reach alpha stage (which is when all features and content are in the game).

At the moment you have a great amount of freedom to adjust your drivers point of view up, down, forwards or backwards in-game. It's not locked.

I know, hence I responded to Adrian's video about it. Though he went more for the 'GoPro' point of view in it I suppose.

I am constantly playing with the camera angles, seat position, POV, etc. I do this simple because having your rig in front of a piece of AV-furniture gives a too great of a distance.

Honestly, I still can't figure out how to go triple screen due to lack of room or get the screen closer because I don't wish to throw about the piece of furniture due to sentimental reasons.
So here's to hoping the Oculus Rift will be available pretty soon. With that I mean between now and Summer 2014.

You could extend the top surface of your rig to mount your monitor behind your wheel, lke I do.

Not really possible with the rSeat Evo. Besides I use a 32 inch tv. So many stands and mounts don't offer support for it.

Ideally I wish to go for a floorstanding swingarm stand with a 1 meter swing. Though at this tv size it is asking the impossible. :P

Thanks mate 👍 also have a question for you guys...which pic's look better?

RUF pic's are in full 4K res 16:9 ratio and ASANO was shot in 1600P and 21:9 ratio?

Cheers, Mario

The ratio doesn't matter. You just have adjust the type of 'photograph' you will take. After all, you wouldn't use a panorama photo camera to take portrait shots. In other words, it depends on what you wish to bring across.

Thus I think all are fine. Sorry. ;)

My bad, i didn't clarify it enough lol...i meant like which pic's look more cleaner (jaggies wise)

I know 4K should look better, but i'm not so sure once i zoom in! That's what i meant LogiForce.

When zoomed in...
I think 4K is ever so slightly better, but you I had to go back and forth between them over and over to tell the difference. So I'd say the difference is negligible.

Hello, any news on the new Prototypes made by users?

My only concerns about Oculus Rift are:
1- max resolution, will this thing be able run pCars with max details and 60 fps?
2- you have to press knobs and buttos blindly.

hello,

a few laps with the BMW Z4 GT3 at Zolder circuit quality is impressive. recorded with the gopro and the three panatallas, hope you like.

Nope.

It's your computer you should be asking that question about. The OR is basically a fancy monitor, nothing more.

2- you have to press knobs and buttos blindly.

For the most part, not a problem for me. You just have to take time to get used to your setup.

1. Yes it will, if you have a capable videocard(s) that can run it at 1080p@60. However, even a single Titan isn't powerful enough to run the game at 1080p@60 with max settings with full grid and weather effects. At least as far as I am aware of. I think it is possible with a Titan SLI solution, though I don't know how many Titans are necessary. Though I want you to keep in mind that this is with the non-optimized current pre-alpha version of the game.

2. True, this is my only gripe with the system. However, depending on how far you can go with your rig. I would try to make the button layout on my rig as ergonomic as possible. Even if I had to make my own dashboard around it. After all, I can blindly reach for all the buttons in my car if I so desire. So it should be possible for a rig as well.

It's also worth pointing out that for pCARS to look great you do not need everything full at 1080p, as many people seem to think. I run the game on an ancient HD4850 and it still looks great. You can get a GPU twice as good as a 4850 for less than £100 these days meaning pCARS will look even better for a pretty small sum.

True. Frame rate first. Best compromise IMHO is keeping high AA filters for a sharp and easier on the eyes graphics and eventually reduce some post processing stuff, shadows, reflections, etc.

That's not what he was asking about though. ;)
But indeed it looks great when not maxed out. Though with my 480 everything is maxed out when I play solo (time trials/practice) without much weather going on, except that I only run at DS2x. I never dared to go try DS9x. :p

Nice video, but I see they're still using the "lift to shift" gearbox model which I hope they fix...
