New pictures!

Kudos to BADNED.

A freakin' DeLorean, Audi R8, and some small car that'll probably be kick ass.

I'd be ****ting bricks right now if I knew it had physics like FM2 but meh... It's only competing with NFS: Pro Street for now in the graphics department.

That does it... I'm getting the box that suxx...

Never thought I'd say that... :grumpy:

Let me holler at you players for a moment. Anyone seen the brief look at Project Gotham Racing 4 at E3? I thought the game looked amazing in pictures. Pictures don't mean a thing if there isn't any sweet video behind it all. The action looks very smooth from the five or so seconds of footage from E3. Dumb thing is that we HAD to listen to Microsoft gloat like they rule the world (nothing very special if you're Microsoft), but they won't show us all of PGR4 on G4TV. Way to go, butt-munches.

But PGR4 is looking amazing.

D/led the trailer and wow... this game isn't gonna have any where close to realistic graphics. The bikes alone were laughable. The graphics of the cars don't match the graphics of the surroundings either.

This game looks great especially with the bikes and weather effects. The only thing that confuses me is the fact that we will be able to drive bikes and enzos on ice. :dunce: Anyone that has driven on ice in real life realizes this would be almost impossible in real life. But it is an arcade game so I am open minded and I am sure it will be fun.

Possible delay?

Bizarre Creations has said it won't be letting its racing baby Project Gotham Racing 4 into the wild "till it's done,” as the dev admits PGR3 wasn’t quite finished.

Bizarre business director Brian Woodhouse told Eurogamer, “This one, we're not letting go till it's done."

He commented on PGR3 stating, “We just ran out of time. We feel like we've got more time [on PGR4]. Last time round, we feel like we got the game ripped away from us."

PGR3, while well-received, fell short of Bizarre’s goals. Woodhouse reiterated that that won’t happen this time around. “We’ve totally changed our development mentality. With a launch title, you've constantly got this issue with difficulty with the hardware and not getting the game up and running early enough. This time around, because we're building it on a modular tech base we're able to bring the game up really early and think about all of those things as we go through, instead of me saying to you as a game designer, 'okay here's the game, you've got two weeks [to balance it]'."

He said that PGR2 was the only PGR game the company “got right.” He added that Bizarre has spent “a fortune” building PGR4.

Microsoft currently has the game slated for a September release—assuming that Bizarre considers the game finished by that time.

Oh Well, im not complaining.

Me neither. Personally, I'm glad they're considering delaying it – it was (and possibly still is) coming out at a time where my wallet will be crying. The gameplay videos from E3 had the game looking not so hot (framerate issues, bikes needing more tweaking, etc), so hopefully they're going to use the time to really polish up the game and get it as good as possible.

Ruh roh! Everyone find the haters and subdue them.

You won't see different times of day per city because this involves recreating all the textures again (one for day and one for night). Whilst this wasn't a problem for our dev team, it was a problem fitting all this data onto a single DVD. So we've worked around the problem by providing different lighting models per city. For example, Macau is always in the daytime, but if you play it during a storm everything looks darker and more foreboding. If you play during a blizzard then things are slightly tinged blue and everything seems more frozen. Of course, playing this track in sunshine will make everything appear bright and yellowy.

This game looks like it is going to be awesome.
I just hope they go through with the delay and make sure everything is perfect. In my opinion PGR2 was the best racer on the Xbox. I'd love to be able to confidently say the same for PGR4 on the 360. 👍

Yep, there's some frothing at the mouth on the UK Official PlayStation 3 forums. Is there a cure for rabies?

If it is delayed, are we looking at a New Year release?

The release date is not what's gotten the internet in a tizzy. It's the statement by the developer that DVD-9 has adversely affected development of the game. This should be good for long flame threads everywhere for a week at least.

The PS3 massive (LOL, I think not) is just jealous that there'll be two great games in the same franchise on 360, whereas there aren't even 2 great racing games on the whole PS3 platform yet.

Na i think they have a valid point to tell you the truth...This just show's how much m$ jumped the gun and thought to much about being the first "next-gen" console out of the block's, instead of future proofing itself.

What do you think they'll call the next lot of consoles? Future gen? next next gen?

Sorry for the offtopic lol

The lack of a day/night option, though somewhat disappointing, was the best option for Bizarre to take, in my opinion. As LemonJelly said:

I would rather have 10 weather effects across all locations vs Day/Night in all locations. BC's reasoning is valid too, Las Vegas just isn't as cool during the day so why waste space/resource having it in the game. You can have (for example) either Vegas x 2 (Day and Night) or Vegas x 10, I know which I would choose.

The GameCube, PS2, and Xbox are now "last gen," the 360, PS3, and Wii are now "current gen," and the next Xbox, PS4, and next Nintendo system will be "next gen" until after they're released.

Or, if you want something consistent, the GCN, XB, and PS2 are in the 6th generation, while the 360, PS3, and Wii are in the 7th gen.

I gotta be honest, I think that people like us are the only ones who will really notice things like the lack of day/night. We're the ones who love racing, we're the ones who are active members of a website dedicated to realistic video-game racing.

I think the majority of people who buy it are a little more casual and won't even notice.

Actually, we're the ones who are active members of a website dedicated to a racing game series that has never offered weather or time-of-day options, aside from the rare wet version of a track. ;)

You're right, though, most people won't really care. Except for PS3 diehards, who, as noted here in this thread, have already started ranting about BluRay vs DVD, etc.
