Are they now going to post one car a day until launch?
Looks like they sourced Chassis #011. Final car by Pratt & Miller, had all the last improvements to the car.

Is there any news on the damage model? Like visual damage of body panels and mechanical, engine overheating, brake fade etc

That what I like. Overheating, suspension failures and I’d like to see flat tyres from curbs at low tyre pressures and from too much wheel to wheel contact.
I recall having been forced to wait about 30-40 seconds after forced to pit in during a qualification in PC1 due to electronics failing in my car. I'm guessing this is the kind of stuff that could happen.

I had PC1 on console so I don't recall the electrical failures. However, back then, ertain flashlights on cars were operable. I remember the BMW GT4 car being one of those cars.
I remember in PC2, there was stuff like gearbox failure, brakes overheating, being able to permanently destroy the engine, etc.
Yeah, the overheating was awesome in PC2. When I got the call from the engineer, it really ramped up the immersion of managing my TC races.

Now, about the damage. Ripping apart a Ginetta Junior at modern Hockenheim was as crazy as it got for me.

This happened.

PCars. Hockenheim GP. Ginetta G40 Junior.
Using cockpit view, it always surprises me what the car looks like, when I view the replay. I thought I just had a wheel missing.

I still can't see GT having this level of damage. This would actually help player's racing etiquette.

I can remember doing a multi class race at LeMans at I was in one of LMP1s and I was slowing down for the 1st Mulsanne chicane and an BMW slams into me and run into the back of another AI turn up my front end and engine so I am limping along and I get slammed into again and my wing comes off so I couldn't go hardly go straight and I had limp threw the rest of the lap. After that I quit the race because I was done. I lowered the AI aggressiveness and started over. I wish they had a tow truck come out in instances like that

An optional AI Safety Car would be perfect for big crashes.
Would certainly add to the immersion on endurance races in particular, not sure we'll see it in this game but I imagine it's something for the future, seen a lot of people requesting it. Once they nail rolling starts post launch, that gives a bit more platform for them to program a safety car I reckon.

I think I would be happy if if they have a yellow flag when I crash and just the ai
We've seen yellow flags already in certain gameplay videos with early AI. Haven't seen any caused by the player yet but everyone seems to have kept it on the road in play tests so far.

That'll buff out easy...

I swear I remember clicking back to pits and I couldn’t participate in the race any further. However, I couldn’t spectate until the finish. Loved that realism in my solo play.

New video by overtake says the full damage model will come after release, along with a few other things like native triples support and VR. As ever, wait a while for the game to be actually complete.

AI still not working in this version as well as the expo one, but they did get rid of the concrete chicane walls so some progress! Also the heavily promoted wet track stuff doesn’t seem to be working yet either.

Old cars seem to work well, modern stuff like GT3 and Hypercar not so much (which may annoy some of the multiplayer community, those are the popular categories in most other games).

It does look better now, more vibrant. Seasons look good but no snow. Some performance issues on PC, hopefully they can be ironed out and console is ok.

In the real world vintage racing are still big. I know GT3 and GT4 are happening now, but revisiting classic cars would be an eye opener for new enthusiasts. Imagining how fragile drivers were in those days with car technology and more connected to the road they were.

Here's a more in depth analysis of pre release now Overtake have had a chance to play it in their main rig.

What I gathered from the discord is that they made a lot of fix and improvements to the AI in the last few days and that Overtake did not have these improvements in the build they tested.

That said, I’m a bit worried about difficulty balancing when there are huge changes to the AI behavior so close to the release. It seems impossible to me at this point that they’ll have time to fine tune the AI per car, per track and per the slider difficulty.

Wait. At 6:33, bigger grids than 31 cars?!

I wondered the same, unless the Devs have told him specifically something different, I think he means via modding, as it's been said it can be increased that way. Some circuits don't support more than 32 so I can't see them officially doing it.

The damage model comments are interesting and seem to be different to what has been said in the Discord server. The damage model has been discussed and detailed there with zero indication it's missing launch.
