It looks promising but to me it doesn’t really look like something that should be releasing in three weeks time. I’m coming round to the GT focus given some of the old classes like GT1 (still remember the FIA GT Championship in the late nineties - Schneider, Webber, Zonta etc in the CLK LM around Donington after the F3000 highlights on a Sunday afternoon!) although it’s a shame we’re not getting Le Mans for some time. It’s a different focus to all those GT3 games and covers all manner of weird and wonderful stuff. But for a game that’s almost about to be released there look like quite a few things to iron out and things like the damage model maybe coming post launch etc just makes me worry that it’s not really ready yet and will get a fairly harsh reception.

Nowadays, most games seem to be released in a "not quite fit for purpose" state. Particularly those that have loads of DLC in the pipeline so I would say most racing games fall into that category. The only games which seem to be released in a completed and polished state are offline games like Silent Hill, Alan Wake, Alone in the Dark, etc.

The literal 'damage control' of a paid presenter popping in right after that to say it's been reported and won't be like this upon release was gold.

Well, 4 tracks and 30+ cars by the end of 2026 is a solid start to that.I'd love to see it succeed and have a second season to expand it, would be great to see this almost be a bit like Automobilista 2 and just keep expanding with new disciplines and such like.

Yes that would be a stinger, £150 odd for the full contingent of AMS2 content is a lot. I have just purchased AMS2 on my laptop and it runs well, but I cannot justify that amount to get everything, hoping for a Steam sale to reduce it significantly.

It certainly sounds though, like the Hadron physics engine is very adaptable, or they use the term 'modular' (info here https://projectmotorracing.com/newsArticle.php?articleCode=YzU4MTRhMjdl very in depth). So perhaps things like Open Wheel, Stock Cars, dare I say Dirt racing? Maybe could come in the future, be it as expansions or a new title.

Certainly mods should provide us with some of that content if creators get on board and Hadron is Straight4ward to work with for the mod creators, that should give us good indication of exactly how adaptable it is for any potential future titles.
 
It's interesting how they're keeping these last cars such a secret. Do they think that revealing Ferrari, McLaren and Alpine at the last moment will drastically boost sales of the game?

Some people will be motivated by that but not all. I think most people that plan on buying will do so regardless of these cars being in the game. But I could be wrong though

I think given the classes involved, Ferrari is definitely a draw. Alpine I think miss this game and McLaren, who knows.

Licensing can be a tough thing to negotiate, not just getting the licenses for the cars but also the various approvals for the promotion and marketing stuff needs to be done by manufacturers etc. So that small shot of the BMW LMDh will have had to have been sent to BMW for approval separately to licensing the car itself. BMW may have looked at it and said, yeah this is fine but xyz sponsor is incorrect or not and then it has to be corrected, redone, sent again for approval and who knows how quick that chain of communication or frequency of responses from the brand is. So it could be a process of a few days or a few weeks.

Ferrari are notorious for being quite selective in how they are represented in media, demonstrations, promotions and so on, if, and it is still IF at this stage, Ferrari are in the game, there's like a few marketing hurdles that need to be jumped by Straight4 to get everything how Ferrari want it, lots of approvals to do and so on.

In my opinion McLaren are currently the one I would be most surprised to not see announced soon. There's always been a question mark over Ferrari as we have seen one in game and then seemed to completely disappear from subsequent builds and the class it was in on the website doesn't indicate any cars TBA. Not that it should be taken as gospel truth but there definitely seems to be a bigger question mark over them than Ferrari.

Regarding Alpine, if Ferrari are in and the 499p is part of that, the Alpine would then be very notable in it's absence from that class.
 
If we look at the IMSA partnership the LMDh field is now full.
Then we also have Toyota Gr010 which leaves the door open to discussion about Wec field.
It's also true that the IMSA deal happened after the Toyota one, so Toyota may just be an outlier
 
I'm just thinking if Ferrari and McLaren are absent, what are they going to put in their place? We still have 20 odd cars to be revealed. Can't believe they're all going to be models from existing manufacturers....🤔

  • Region-specific championships to mirror all the major ones.
  • One-off endurance races you can enter, with big payouts.
  • Adjustable race lengths, from 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, can adjust this in-between seasons. It's really not meant to be played this way but we added it as a bonus.
  • Classic allows you to restart races and choose the difficulty. Authentic locks it to 100%.

Also Career is fully moddable and resembles what modding looks like for other sims, so with a text editor you can either edit existing championships, make new championships, set your own payouts, assign them logos and event posters, assign them a custom grid, so the sky is completely the limit here (I hope my overlords are ok with me saying this).

You are correct, Sir. I'm buying everything the second it's available and I couldn't care less what cars they announce. I expect game to get better year over year.

The modding is what I'm mostly interested in with this game and combined with the buying cars and race economy I can see people making a faux Gran Turismo type career if enough mods come out for it. I'm going to wait and see how it's implemented and then decide if I'm going to purchase.

I am also very interested in the mods as well. I am very excited that once a sim racer on the console will have mods. I am not expecting Asset to Corsa mods but being able to download different cars and tracks is exciting. Hopefully you don't need PS + to download the mods. I say that because Car X drift racing has tracks mods for the console but you can only download them with PS+
 
This video, and one he just made before it stating he'd made a tool that combines a bunch of tools for hassle free AC track modding sounds good.

On console here so haven't ever looked into mods but track builders in arcade games sound like the best option the three new titles with mods could provide us? Or that generative draw a pattern and it makes a road like Unreal offers (although that only showed off-road tracks so far).

He says it might work in other titles soon (think he's meaning AC Evo) but maybe he'll get it working with PMR?

Farming Simulator has tons of mods so expect this could provide similar. Between PMR, AC Evo and Rennsport it could all come down to which title has the most, and best mods?

Recent Gameplay videos definitely show progress, but i hope they can still improve a lot.

I want this game for 2 reasons:
  • Single player career for quick offline fun
  • Crossplay with PS5 because all my former GT5 and GT6 buddies have not made the switch to PC yet and we desperately want to race together again

btw, can anyone on the discord ask if midsession-save will be a thing? that would be great for longer career races

Well, I don't know much about modding, but the fact that it said "so with a text editor you can either edit existing championships", makes me wonder if a text editor is a thing on Xbox?

I think it'll be more a case of being able to access to editor files on the Mod Hub (can't remember the actual name) on the website and then doing the edits and uploading it to the central mod platform and downloading it in game via the mod menu accessible on the console versions.

For Farming Simulator you go here and download the Editor or Studio or whatever you need and go from there, presumably PMR will be the same.
