There's a fine line to be walked in the Discord. The way some people are bringing things up is clearly intending to just be inflammatory and a lot of people have then attacked the Devs who, in my opinion, bravely put themselves on the Discord to talk about the issues. They don't have to do that but they are.

They definitely responded to the radar chat and said it's obviously something that they will work on as there's demand for it. The people who then respond to that by attacking the developers are then an issue.

I don't think their interactions are disappointing personally, the alternative is that individual developers just wouldn't communicate with us and we'd get a media/social media/community guy just fronting it and that be that, 'pass on the feedback' type thing.
I disagree, I obviously don't see the messages that get deleted but some of the recent discussions that I've seen get shutdown have been completely civilized. And then the mods/devs in the discord shut the same discussions down whenever it comes up again. It seems quite heavy handed to me, even in contrast to Forza forums and discord.

Hmm. I tentatively got on the hype train, now I’m kinda weighing up whether to sneak off at the next stop. I haven’t pressed the emergency brake yet, but I’m fully prepared to vault the ticket barriers and run for my life if needed. I think I’ve milked that analogy dry now.

I’m kinda glad I haven’t pre-ordered this yet at the moment, but it still has time to win me over.
Well, now it's time for you to choo choo-se...

GM not holding back.

If they copy FM and release like this, maybe they can do the updates better than FM and not abandon that. They did seem quick to fix their AI so maybe they can get it out of this "pre-alpha" quickly?

Not all people like GM, but I think his channel is the best. He's completely independent and usually doesn't hold back, as you said.

That's the only way to get anything improved. Fanboysim doesn't take these games forward. GM is not always right though, but most of the time he's spot on.

I haven't watched too much because influencer sim snobs are horrible, but it's looking pretty good to me.

Visually it looks nice; about what I'd expect on PC. It still looks hazy/washed out like every PC title.. GT7 still king here. I had totally forgotten there was like actual career mode with damage costs and buying stuff, so that seems fun and new but also scary to screw up a race. Menus still feel a little flat but, all the PC games are. They put zero effort into the UX. PMR menus look like a slight improvement over PC2 or AMS2.

The AI seems slightly rough? But also some of that could come down to the driver. Just like with GT7 (and other games), some people over drive a car cause they feel like thats what people do in real life. So they saw the wheel back and forth and hurl the car into turns and dive bomb, believing that because its a computer it should just be programmed to avoid them.

Sounds seem good? Hard to tell from a stream or videos. Thought I heard an engine sound very synthetic for a second.Force feedback will probably need to be tweaked because it's less about realism and more about what I person thinks is real. So they want it how they like it.

All still aligns with my expectations. I never expected this to be some radical new perfect sim because they never are. This will get better with time like they all do. I got all my new PC parts in today except, sadly, the RAM won't be here til next Friday apparently.

@Apocalypse211 GM is one of the examples I can't watch. He seems like a miserable $^&@ in everything I watched so I "Do not recommend this channel" to me on youtube.

I once got banned from the SMS discord for moaning about no pitstops and magic tyres ( you know the ones that changed from dry to wets out on track ) in PCars3 I remember Ian Bell actually posting ' if it's not for you then don't buy it ' Which I didn't.

This time around I was hoping that PMR will be what they've been hyping, and maybe it will over time. Maybe by the time it drops for real next week, they may have fixed a few things, or maybe the pre release build was not as up to date as we think and it'll be a decent game.

I may still end up getting it but it's not a must have just yet. All I can think of was when ACC released and I got that on preorder. Up to that point I'd been racing on PCars2, and I didn't like ACC as much. Plus it was quite a buggy mess until it got fixed into what it is today. The downside to that is it took at least 4 years to get it up to scratch, so I hope that it won't take as long as that to get PMR up to what they've already promised.

Or I may be overreacting and on Tuesday it'll be great. Lol.
At least it's not as bad as Rennsport haha.

That could be the advertising tagline.

Project Motor Racing - Not as bad as Rennsport

I wouldn't mind Early Access the way AC Evo did. I'm not really too upset that it's not complete because I didn't expect it to be but it would have been nice if they did call it early access and maybe take $10 off or something like that.

This really disappoints me and it points to a bigger problem in the world in general. Instead of just shutting down negative talk, is it open discourse. Man, I really wish I was a developer. I would simply say, "we noticed that too and we're glad you brought it up and it's something that we're going to continue working on". I don't understand why that's so difficult.

Banning people is a little tricky. When somebody gets personal or political or is clearly raging without facts, they should be banned.

However, if a person is pointing out things that are obvious and doing it in a reasonable way, the receiver of that information will always be better off for continuing the conversation as long as nobody is insulting each other.

I've supported these guys and I gave them a lot of money up front and I'm probably going to enjoy the game, but I am disappointed in the manner in which they are interacting with the community.

Whatever happened to working together to make a better racing game?
They weren’t answering my simple yes or no question about Trueforce, I asked like three times before getting ticked off that they kept avoiding answering, so I essentially backed them into a corner and forced an answer out of them and they didn’t like that and started getting smart and snippy. I’m good with a ban. That discord was unreal. And fanboy city too.

I can understand why gaming developers become defensive and start banning people. Plenty are just there to be obtuse and annoying and their questions are phrased in such a way that makes it sound accusatory and personal.
Particularly since they have no clue about the developers' budget, licensing agreements or anything else that goes into creating the game. It's just a case of "Hypetrain didn't deliver yet again" etc. Sounding like entitled brats. Not saying everyone does that but when enough do, people shouldn't be too shocked when the worm turns.

As said on Discord, Bell is cocky but he and his team are the ones that stick their neck out and make this game. I respect that. Carlist is fantastic, tracks are great an varied and I really want them to succeed. I might get burned but it is a risk I am willing to take. I haven't watched many YT vids, only the one from a girl that got the PS5 version. Discord I've read briefly but I'll experience the game for myself next week.

Rennsport was a different story but I expect PMR to be great fun and personally as a 'casual' some points raised don't affect me as much as those 'pro's' 🤷

After watching a few more PS5 Streams and it might be what I am watching on but all the base PS5 footage of the interior cockpits there seems to be no glass at all in the windscreen and dials. No reflections or anything, it all looks very flat and texture quality non existent in car interiors where I thought I read car models should be same as PC on the consoles. Trackside details look downgraded quite a bit, is this just the stream and could be different on day 1 patch?

Edit: I have since watched a few more different videos including the one by Justin below and his looks much sharper and better than what I saw yesterday so it could be different streaming devices but overall consoles seem to be as expected. 👍

If only sony had a refund option, we could try for ourselves.

Also has anyone seen on recent livestreams any confirmation the adaptive triggers work well on controller like GT7?

Edit: I have just read on the discord some one mentioned there is feedback on the triggers and settings to adjust.

You've definitely heard wrong here then, all I've heard and what we've been told is the AI are on the same physics as the player. Specifically because of the issues they had with pCars running different/simplified physics.

I quoted one post about those car number limitations. But my answer is to all of this discussion 2 pages ago.

Assetto Corsa Competizione - you have easily 32 cars on track with no simplified physics and full time of day, weather etc.

I think devs of PMR are just searching justification of this. I think they had problems with optimization and just went easy path. There are several racing game working on console with better performence and „more stuff” on track.

I will pass for now. What I see this game is in early access just for a full price.

I would love to see someone play the game with the minimum required specs on PC. If that handles 32 cars on track with decent frame rate and graphics settings I can't understand how the PS5 cpu can't handle it.

I think we'll have to see what happens AI wise on launch and the consensus of how they race. ACC is a decent example as it uses full physics on the AI as well, however, couple key things to remember with that:

1. ACC physics refresh at 400hz, PMR at 720hz. And that's before you get into all the detail of the engine between the 2.

2. The AI in ACC is pretty rubbish to race against. I'll concede that so far it looks like a mixed bag for PMR, but, I've also seen a lot of positives.

I also think @Fezzik isn't far off the mark with the XSS thing, some of these compromises may have been made so it can run on XSS and the other consoles just have to suffer with it.

Speaking of AI, I asked about the possibility of modding the career events to have more AI cars, this was the answer:

And for those not on the Discord a may miss some of what's being said by the developers:

They've also worked through the night to fix the CPU bottleneck issue and caching issues. It's also believed an AI issue has been identified and should be fixed for launch. No Logitech True force at launch.

Let's see what happens.

Thanks nice to see more PS5 footage, are you happy with it so far, physics and graphics, cockpit views etc 👍
Physics wise, I think the main issue is a lot of people will be coming from ACC, LMU, etc so when they drive something older like a Lister Storm, they won't like it. Not because it's a bad car, but because it's genuinely hard to drive. That's how it was in 1999, thats how it is now.

As long as you rationalize the car you're about to drive and the technology (or lack thereof) in it, then you should be largely fine.

Graphics are good, will likely get a bit of extra polish in day 1 patch and additional support as the title evolves and all that.

Lastly, cockpit cams are fully customizable. And I mean fully! Height, tilt, fov, you can even move the camera to the middle of the car and do a sort of "TOCA 2" style TV cam! Very happy with the options here.

Thank you for the quick reply, I am seeing more and more PS5 footage this morning and this is good news. I think until you have it on your own personal settings and set up it is so difficult to tell in videos so I am looking forward to trying it. Much appreciated it sounds like lots of adjustable settings included on console like PC2 (PC3 didn't have many at all).
