I feel like the main problem for me isn’t the fact it might have a few bugs, frame rate issues etc to iron out - PCars 2 was a mess initially, ACC has frame rate hitches still, most games have teething problems, I can accept and even expect that - it’s that it’s still having these issues despite being down to 16 cars on track. To be honest, the 16 car cap has kinda drained away my interest in the game. I had these images in my head (that certainly weren’t discouraged by any of the pre-release PR) of big, multi-class grids a la PC2, but done better this time because tech is better and this was a truly ambitious project led by a bloke who’s annoying and makes big bombastic promises about his games but ultimately loves what he does and eventually delivers. But sixteen car grids just aren’t what I had in mind here, and that’s fine, I was dreaming about something that isn’t the reality, that’s not to say it’ll be a bad game. I’m sure the Lister Storm is brilliantly recreated to the nth degree and it’s challenging to handle lots of the cars and people will find a lot of good in this, and that’s great. It’s just not going to offer me what I thought it would offer and that’s a shame.
