So yeaaah. About those physics concerns we see. This is supposed to be like that its different and revolutionary and they hope we like it.
To be honest that makes me worried because hypercars and gt3 won’t be fixed probably.

Honestly I simply wouldn't pay attention to anything Bell is saying. The Devs on the discord have confirmed an issue with the GT3s which should be fixed in the D1 patch. The LMDh is proving tricky because not everyone is having issues but they are investigating.

Ian Bell is simply a salesman and hype man, I don't imagine he's making the developers jobs particularly easy when it comes to addressing issues on the forums and the Discord.

The Hypercars team said on Discord that they're currently working on it, as is the AI, and that the GT3 team was also working on it over the weekend (they mentioned something about a problem with downshifting).
So, I don't think the AI and Hypercars will arrive in today's patch until the next few days.

Just watched another video and the hypercars are a mess, fishtailing like crazy at the final turn in Interlagos. Driving games are a precious commodity anyway, but it seems competently made driving games are rarer still. Sigh.
 
Ultimately we will find out in about 4 hours. With the day 1 patch loaded in and more people playing, we will get a better understanding of where this game really is. I disagree with the sentiment that it should be early access or is a year too early in the basis of what I've seen.

I will report back with my views this evening.

The thing about hypercars is strange because some seem impossible to drive, while others are handled well (ManuRodry94). So I don't know what the problem is.

They quickly went from "everything will be fixed with the d1 patch" and "reviewers are not playing the version with the d1 patch", implying it would be much better, to "don't expect a big difference". At this point they are just lying to salvage what they can of this wreck of a release.

To be fair, at no point has anyone said everything will be fixed with the day 1 patch. The developers have been very clear on the CPU bottleneck and some UI issues being the primary focus.

I can't be bother to get all the quotes from their discord and Ian Bell online. I know you're trying to be positive and your intentions are good, but I've been following their discord and they have at the very least implied things were being looked at and saying a lot of times that there is going to be a d1 patch, implying things will be fixed.

And often times they have dismissed things like the LMDh and GT3, saying everything was fine on the factory program version, and now are admitting that may need fixing.

Not to mention the half answers or in some cases giving false information like the 16 cars offline and TrueForce. I know an unfinished product when I see it.

I do have to praise their marketing. They have hyped up a single player career mode that seems to have atrocious AI and bare bones structure and people believed it (myself included). The only deck of cards that in my view is still standing (becase the T2T is only relevant if the game doesn't struggle to run and the handling is, it seems, very hit and miss) is the online and maybe that's just because people haven't really delved into that.

There's a big big difference between saying things are being looked at, and things will be fixed day 1, big difference. I've at no point had the impression that they've said everything will be fixed day 1. Honestly I don't even think the game is that broken, a lot of the issues are relatively minor.

But, until we actually go hands on with the day 1 release version, it's all speculation. It's not just about being positive but there's a lot of misinformation coming from outside the developer circle as well.

Good question I have seen a few FDP people talking about it and they've all been pretty much universally positive about it and their experience. Whether that's just for show at the behest of S4 I don't know.
 
Re the LMH: I did some testing with a friend and the pre-release PS5 version number is lower than the one currently on PC.

All posts I have seen about the hypercars being undrivable have been from PS5, whereas PC seems fine.
Hopefully that means it's something already fixed.

Just for clarity, here's me having the same issue on PS5. It is essentially gliding across the track, turning when it wants unpredictably, or not responding to my inputs at all.

 
Good luck to all that give it a go today and hope there is a some enjoyment. I have decided to wait based on the early access comments. Was getting close to purchasing based on all the daily face book promotions that would receive. AMS2 and it's latest major content update will keep going until end of the year. Then perhaps PMR will be good enough to purchase.

Is it just more of a presentation thing? When I think of "more career" for a racing game of this type I'm imagining something like the new F1 games which, at least from what footage I've seen because I don't play them, doesn't seem great? It's like a lot of fluff. Managing minutia and fake social media crap. I don't think I'd want that in this.

So then I come back to not really sure what else would make career mode better beyond more presentation flare.

I think the wish for some people is more of a structure than the usual box-ticking exercise of most sim careers, something like a real life progression (karts, juniors, one-makes, F4 or GT4, etc). This one seems to be race whatever you want until the money runs out, a bit different but maybe not the most engaging. It will please others though, just being able to jump straight to whatever class you like. You can't please everyone.

Bigger grids (for console) and functioning AI (that is actually aware of you on track) would also help. Those may be coming. Let's see.

The AI is the best in any sim for me and mirror reality. They do fight each other if the one behind is faster or if pit strategy intervenes. You can race them like real cars also -

This claim from Mr Bell could well be true. It might be the best and most realistic AI but what I've seen of it it doesn't look the most fun and that's what I'm after. Honestly give me Simcade Sophy instead.

Patches can take 1-2 weeks to pass console certification. This is after internal dev work, QA testing and release management sign-off.

Can the player not pick the MX5 cup to start and then progressively choose to climb the ladder so to speak? And if they added karts or the skip barber trainer thing, would that not function the same way and just be an additional tier? I'm not poking to be confrontational, just wondering what the career mode is that people are dreaming up in their mind.

I can understand it from a presentation point of view. Like having some footage of the real thing with some info explaining the history of the class or type of racing. Maybe period appropriate tracks. But I'd really only expect something like that from a Gran Turismo game at this point as Kaz seems to appreciate history and showing how things came to be. These "hardcore sims" always spend all their time and effort on making some tracks and cars as realistic as possible (which I can't blame them because you see how the community reacts to anything they don't deem to be as realistic as possible) at the expense of general gameplay. Are there examples of good career modes? Is it like when TOCA had the corny cut scenes and drama? :lol:

What I mentioned earlier, with additional tiers, is something I expect the modding community could do and just add lower tier machines. And if people can really get in there and mod more core elements, maybe they can add more.. features?.. to the career mode. Whatever those are.

At least in my case, I'm kind of only interested in driving the types of cars I like, which aligns with what you touched on. And it's also why I'm not too concerned about the newer cars not driving well at launch lol But yea, I guess a career mode in that sense for me is sort've just a championship with some money involved.

How are then COD/BF, GTA, Gran Turismo's, Fifa's and other getting updates sometimes even two in same day...
It's about money and size of dev team.
