Just here to say I think it'll be a decent game if they tidy up a few things. If you're going for a largely console player base it doesn't make sense to make it too difficult on controller, especially at launch. Way too many settings for my liking (with no in-game explanations - what do they do?) We are not all sim aficionados, nor do most of us want to spend hours of precious time fiddling with settings.
Having said that, driving is good at times, when it clicks it's great. And what happens when you get on the grass or clip a barrier is much better imo than what happens (or rather, what doesn't happen) in GT7.

Tested the Porsche 963 after the 1.5.0.1 patch.

It doesn’t feel like the thing is on drift tires anymore, nor does it sound like it has a high-revving V6 anymore. Already a step forward.

It seems like they mixed up the sounds of some of the LMDh cars. The Toyota GR010 sounded like it had a V8, at least before this latest patch. I haven’t used any of the others as of yet since getting the patch.

Toyota sounds correct now, but I'm by no means an expert.

I just saw a hypercar stuck behind a gt3 at Dayton in the banking. The AI seems to be better in terms of awareness, but it still needs fixing.

I'm curious to know if the game feels better on ps5 and if the online ranked issues have been fixed.

After spending 4 hours straight on Project Motor Racing last night, I've pretty much done a 180 on my view of it.
It's not bad. I thought it was at first, it's not. This is however a ridiculous early release. Sure there's bugs. Things like the the mouse scroller not working in certain particular menus to changing graphics settings makes the game crash to lods of the GTO Cougar making the whole underneath of the car disappear including the wheels and tires right in plain view. These will be fixed though.

It took a WHILE to set up the wheel, this was what caused the error of my judgment at first. Once the wheel is set up correctly and you understand what all the settings do, and mainly the FFB settings in the car setup too, you will have a much better time. Right along with the wheel, if you're in a sim rig, setting the Field of View in the main menu didn't do anything, but in the car Seat Setup menu, you can set it in there and it will save for each car at least. Kind of a PITA but another bug that will be fixed. I found setting my FoV down to 45 and then moving the seat back gave so much more of a sense of being in the car. Apexes are easier to hit and braking zones are easier to judge as well.

The AI is pretty fast, they lack lateral awareness. I'm testing out some of the parameters in the files. Which by the way, PMR has complete folders that contain "tweakers" files. That's what they're called. Plenty of parameters to adjust and a full folder just for the AI alone.

You're going to need to be able to setup the cars too. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of flak on PMR comes from people who have no clue how to setup a car nor care to learn, therefore PMR bad. No. You need to realize that tire temps and pressures come up with use, brakes smooth out with heat, track racing line rubbers in with time. This isn't a start at the back and do 3 laps and finish first game.

Looking forward to the fixes and what else they bring. Already have a modding group that is piecing apart the process to add cars and tracks.🍻

(I forgot to add one thing. Turn off TAA and use DLSS. It makes a world of difference.)

I was able to run 2 ranked races without problems but it didn't count any points or anything.

There's an element of negative comments from people who don't know how to setup the cars.
But when you have the majority of seasoned YouTubers with years of sim racing experience ( and IRL racing experience ) saying he game was pants, then you know there's an issue.
However, according to comments today since this patch has come out, it does seem that a corner has been turned and the game is now more like what was expected of it earlier in the week.
It will be interesting to see if and when any of those reviewers have another look

Tried new update, drove 3 cars with Dualsense.

I'm on PS5 Pro and you can see some huge frame drops...

At the end, It threw me out of game.

I’ve checked my YouTube settings. It’s playing back at highest quality and still I can’t get over how bad this game looks visually and it’s having frame drops to boot.

That’s really the best graphics they can muster up for next gen? Yikes. I wasn’t expecting GT7 graphics but the game does look almost ten years old.

I couldn't possibly care less what anyone on yootoob thinks or says. They don't pay for my hardware and they didn't provide me with the game. If it was so bad then how could I spend 4 hours on it and have fun? Why didn't I just quit after one race if it was sooo bad?
Because it isn't and with further updates it can even get better.
Stop letting other people tell you what you're supposed to like or not like.

Everyone would like a game custom-tailored to their own preferences. But hardcore sim racers who like spending time setting up a car are a small minority. Most want to spend their valuable time driving. Does this dev team not get this? Is all the feedback they get from simmers? As is, it's a PC game, not ready/suitable for console.
A racing game hoping to sell well to the huge console player base is shooting itself in the head if it makes pad usage too difficult or too complicated/tiresome to set up.

It won't even let me map buttons/triggers to my preferences.

Should be a good week of console racing for me. :)

They cram so much realistic features in the game though. Something has to be scaled back for consoles. We see it with the past PC games and AC franchise.

What's with the flame?
You said when the game came out you thought it was bad. So did they.
Now after the patch you say it's good. More than likely they will too.
This obviously points to the patch going a long way to fixing some of the release issues.

Not sure why you needed to have a go at me over that

The patch sounds like it’s actually done a lot of good, which honestly makes me tempted to pull the trigger again. I suppose the question is, if the game was released like this rather than what it was two days ago, would the reception have been so awful? I’m still doing my due diligence on it but I’m liking what I’m hearing so far. I want to buy this game and enjoy it so much.

I don't even think it looks that bad, sure it's no Gran Turismo, but YouTube does it no favours. It looks far better actually playing.

I think it would have been mixed, rather than wholly negative. It still has problems but some of the key things are now significantly improved and much more stable.

In my head I kind of said the same, that I might consider getting it but in the end there's still a lot of things to iron out. The earliest I plan to possibly pick this game up is January providing the get even more stuff done by then. And by then we should know whats coming in the first expansion by detail. I'll be watching and waiting...

I played for a while after the last update, and for me, several things have improved. The cars no longer pull to the left in the pits or when braking. And the force feedback now feels like it's actually responding to the road. Before the update, I think I said it felt inverted, but now it's fine. Sometimes you push the car to the limit in a corner, and I don't feel anything except the turning force, but no vibration. If I go over a curb, the feel of the curb reappears, and for 3 seconds, the road vibration. But if I go over the same spot without touching the curb, there's no road vibration. The force feedback is a bit inconsistent, but the important thing—feeling the car, its weight transfer, and things like that—feels good.
The steering wheel display still isn't working. I did the test to access ranked online, and the game crashed when the test ended.
I tried an online race on social with the MX-5 on Lime Rock, the shortest version, and I think there were about 20 of us registered, and around 8 of us finished. I was second, so I only had one car in front of me, but there were no problems online; it ran smoothly and the car behind me didn't have any time jumps or weird issues.

No flame. Just writing sentences. I thought the game was bad because they made it difficult to setup and make good. That still is bad. However, once you cross that bridge, you know and understand what to do. The game then comes into form and is not only usable but rather enjoyable. Not perfect but it hasn't even been out a week.
This should have been early access and it should have been half the price. The biggest problem is that your spending full price for something that won't be worth that price for a year or longer.

They told us from the conception of this game that they wanted to make a sim. They wanted to push the boundaries of what a simulation can be. All the sudden it's supposed to be easy and you shouldn't have to setup a car? They never marketed this like that at all.

I have absolutely no patience, never have. In deciding not to pre-order or buy this on launch I’ve accidentally put myself in with the (sensible) watch and wait people, objectively I think the right group to be in given the problems, but that’s just not me, I’m all about buying on impulse and then feeling guilty about spending money that could have gone on something sensible instead. I’m waiting for an excuse to pull the trigger even though I know waiting makes far more sense now. But it’s boring!

Bro didn't even try to get the tires warmed up and then push 🤦🤦
Ask yourself how many people, what's the percentage of people using PMR that don't even know what cold tires are, what they feel like let alone people who are purposely trying to make the game look bad even though they know better.
I drove in a 20 minute race in the Porsche 963 at Daytona before this latest patch. Setup the car first. Didn't spin once. (I didn't do great though, holy crap the AI was fast and I couldn't drive like them.) It's wild how these people would rather get their "look at me" clicks then to encourage a developer to do good.
